  • Goddamn dirty apes!

  • Anyone notice the guy getting mowed down in a hail of bullets @ 0:03 ? Look closely.

  • A couple of aspirin and a lie down - he'll be fine.

  • fantastic film, end of story

  • Taylor > Brent

  • The "Apes" series were infused with biting social comments on America. At work here; religious zealots who use "illusions" - media lies? - to control their enemies and pray to their nuclear superiority. (Let's not overlook their racist hatred of "apes".)

Onto the Ewoks in the childish "Star Wars" franchise. How do you not cringe in embarrassment? The aliens in the "Cantina" scene sure look convincing and Yoda bouncing about in those ridiculous CG fights. Dissect those scenes for meaning.

  • Does he survive these minor bullet grazes...

  • Forty years later, that scene still shocks me, especially when you consider that the movie was rated "G". I still think parents today are wimps.

  • @VonWenk The question is, does he survive these minor wounds?

  • Where the hell did that firing squad of gorillas come from?

  • @Theakker3

Good question. Notice the position James Franciscus is in ( hint: the wall and stone foundation behind him ) when his gun malfunctions and the position he is in when he gets shot.

  • @time708090 Had to fly all the way back and still be standing up. And thus...quite lame.

  • @Theakker3

LOL. A bad case of "sequel-itis"

  • That just sucks, man! I mean, Chuck Heston refuses to do the whole movie, so that get Jimmy to take over, only to have Chuck come back in the end. Here he has one last minute to be the fucking HERO, basically doing what he did a year earlier in VALLEY OF GWANGI, only to be unceremoniously shot in the head when he wasn't looking! Damn! What a sucky way to go. Poor Jimmy. He's the George Lazenby of the Humans in these movies.

  • Shoted!

  • James Franciscus. Shoted. By APES! This scene was unforgettable.

  • Avatar is shit without 3D effect

    And yeah,this is :/

  • Bad sequel? This was one of my favorite endings of all time. It was amazing.

  • @WarfighterStudios1 right on the best of all apes films

  • i thought this one was really good. not as good as the first but i dont think anyone expected it to be. the ending wasnt that great, but they only put that ending cause they didnt want to make another sequel.

  • I thought this was a really well done movie. Franciscus was a very good actor and nailed the role as well as Nova. Great ending with Heston pushing the button

  • Bad sequel? R U kidding???? this movie was great!

  • This was a very good sequel, I was so transfixed as a kid watching it, the whole Doomsday bomb premise and New York a pile of rubble captivated me, Franciscus, although he is no Heston, does a fine job taking the lead acting and the film works!! Very Good!

  • @bedank wow, I'm glad I wasn't alive in the 70s if this roll of used toilet paper was considered good. Think about Avatar, that's how good a movie can be.

  • That bad it was good!

  • I remember it well-I was so shocked when J. Franciscus character was killed..he was my first crush, and I remember I balled mao in bed after watching it on one of those friday night movie when it premiered on CBS

  • a esos simios les gusta es golpear y golpear todo el tiempo , bad apes,+.

  • They killed Longstreet! Those damn dirty apes!

  • It's doomsday! Doomsday!

  • Who cares how bad the film might have been - it's James Franciscus baby! Sat in the matinee and watched this over and over again with a friend-we were 13 and lost track of time.

Got in trouble cause it got dark out and we were supposed to be waiting outside as soon as the movie ended, for my mom to pick us up!

For James Franciscus, it was worth it, haha - he was one of our major crushes back in the day!

  • James Franciscus was a very underated actor. He was the highlight of this film. Did you know that he re-wrote the script for this film before accepting it? More than half the diologue in this film is what he penned..............

  • Escape from the Planet of the Apes was my least fave of them all, it had good moments but tooooooooooooo many faults!

  • I think the bomb killing everyone was Heston's idea. There was no way he wanted to leave the story open for another sequel (he only briefly appeared in this as a favour to Richard Zanuck) and he felt this ending was a sure-fire way of ensuring that. He was proved wrong of course.

  • It was Heston's idea - he found it amusing that they still found a way to make more sequels, well - prequels........

  • @venue44mansfield hey yeah the first movie series with a prequal

  • And this was a G-rated film!

Even James Franciscus wasn't pleased with this ending. They could have stuck with the way is was originally written. The bomb was not atomic. It was a hydrogen bomb. Brent, Nova and Taylor escape the explosion that kills the ape army and mutants. Then they start a new society with the peaceable apes. Well, what's done is done.

  • @time708090 true

  • This film is hit and miss, but the last 15 minutes or so is awesome

  • Probably because that's when Heston shows up at last.

  • R.I.P. Charlton Heston

  • The mutants rule//

  • okay, after what u just saw, they both die and the planet explodes. oh, and that nova girl is already dead. it was a great movie but gave me nightmares first time i saw it.

  • This movie is great. DAMN YOUR HYPOCRACY

  • What is HYPOCRACY ... You might want to say hypocrisy ... not defend the indefensible ... the film is shit ... Damn your spelling!

  • Is that bomb out there, is that an illusion?!

  • @bloodarenasterevil

Hypocracy comes from g(r)eek "hypo" = below, under and "cracy" = rule.

He probably meant to say that he d wish you having more confidence in your leadership.

  • Look people! The guy was "SHOTED FOR THE APES"...

    Loser...

Understand film before you TOK... I mean "SPEAK!"

    Awesome movie!

    MB

  • The film is a great fucking ... It was made in 1970 (as tapes were made as a 2001) and the visual effects are sucks, has no emotion, the makeup of those who live below ground is a disgust ...

Fime understand? But if the contents of any film Freddy Krueger is deeper than this aberration.

  • Certianly, Are you sure already seen the film?

    Awesome movie????

    Soylent Green is Awesome.

    This is total shit.

    Ass hole
