ANIMAL PARADE!!!! cause i mean the events are muchhh more in depth and more bachlors and bachlorettes. But i did enjoy tot but if i could go back in time i would buy ap first and prolly never get tot. Thats the truth of my opinion :/

Animal Parade has better grapics, you can have two kids, there is a camera, even when you finish there are alot of side quests adn randomcutscenes to unlock or complete, and your children have personalites!

Actually i perfer animal parade. It is the exact opposite to me. The characters were more dull in tot than ap. There r some things i liked better in tot, but overall ap ( animal parade) is my first choice:)

However, Tree of Tranquility goes by far too fast. I hate being a work-a-holic in a game and that is the first game that has got me to not playing it anymore. I managed to go through one year, marrying Jin and having a daughter and it's annoying since I have nothing to do but take care of my animals every day. I have 15 animals and I don't have time to do anything else when I finish. It's also harder, IMO, gaining affection to people/animals in that game than Animal Parade.

Animal Parade! It's the first Harvest Moon game that doesn't finish quickly! I'm glad that it takes almost a half an hour to finish a day. It goes by quickly if you do a lot of things. This also gives you a lot of free time to whatever it is you want to do. Plus.. Hello?! You get two kids! Finally, I don't have to dispute over which gender I want! I can have BOTH. Although ToT has a better mining system, AP winds by a LANDSLIDE.

there area lot of pros and cons of each, but i only like ap a little bit more. a lot of people are talking about how much less personality the characters have, but that's not all true. in ap, the harvest sprites (one of my favorite parts of hm) have more personality and you can actually talk to them and befriend them after you coplete their mission. but, yes, most characters' personality isnt as good...

my all-time favorite tot/ap character is julius, but he is too annoying in tot.

It's more Likely and logical that animal parade is better, since it is a new and an update to tree of tranquility, there is way more land to explore and you can marry the harvest goddess like I did, you cam also marry the wizard or the witch, I mentioned them since there story is most romantic, (that my vote.)

I find myself that there is both good and bad to each game.

In ToT, you do not have to pay money to go to the Island, but your husband/wife are never home to help you with the chores.

In AP, Chase ( that is who I married ) waters the garden, mines, fishes etc. whenever I want him to, but the scenery and well, all of the land is so ugly.

My vote in the end is for AP. : )

I think I like ToT better. :) Firstly, the female main chars look funky in AP (the body looks a bit weird). I liked the town better in ToT, and that the time doesn't take forever to pass. I don't like all of the running around in AP, and the chars are just so sad. I think I like the story a bit better in AP though, the story seems a bit more in depth. But I hate how everyone keeps whining, lol.

I like AP better...one because I like the new feature that u can have two kids. two because theres more events and ur child doesnt take forever to grow up like in TOT. I also think that ur horse runs more realisticly in AP. In TOT the horse ran really weirdly...so i never rode my horse. :P some things in TOT are better...like how u can have more that 3 types of animals in ur barn at one time. I also like the "smoothness" of the game. The graphics are also really nice but so are they in AP. :)

The only thing I like more in AP is the second child, as well as the fact that your children look different depending on who you marry. But all-in-all ToT is better. I HATE how you have to get your rivals to 7 hearts in order for them to get married instead of just three or four hearts. And also there's just way too much pointless land in between places.

The graphics are (for me) in AP better, and the feature that you have a few more events and that you can have 2 kids is really good, but if you cancel that it's pretty much the same as TOT! The storyline.. well it's a nice idea, but bells and rainbows.. = the same. And it's true that the characters have like no personality! At the beginning everyone was so emo! I mean the people in TOT accepted the situation they were in and made the best of it. So I have to say that I like TOT better than AP :3

Well I truly must say that I think that Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility is better. I have both games so you can't say anything like that but first of all the days are shorter in TOT, which I thought would be bad but I feel that the days are so long in AP and I have barely anything to do once I have accomplised everything! Next, the characters look so ugly and their personalities seemed to have vanished! Sometimes I get really bored while playing AP. I pulled many whole-nighters in TOT.

haha i'm so amazed that i finally found someone who noticed the same things as i did! epople seem to think AP is so much more amazing than ToT because of the more things you can do, like have 2 kids, or marry 4 other "wonders." but i am SO happy that SOMEONE else noticed the bland personalitites in AP and the boring looks. luke looks less hunky, too. his hair looks greasy and he's short and not muscly anymore. i don't like it.

anyway, i personally like the scenery better in AP, and i don't feel limited to where i can go, unlike ToT. i found it REALLY easy to get people's affection. all i had to do was give luna apple pie twice and she got another heart. and there's that amazing circus (which you have to save) and you can teach pets tricks and you can ride cows and goats and sheep...

i don't really upgrade tools...

i like the layout of the island better in AP, even though it does mean i have to walk farther....but i do miss the gull islands..there was some pretty goood fishin there.

animals also the stuff you can do treasure maps and more cut screnes XD

Yup the exact same, except different quality of the game, but that doesn't really matter. Yeah the Harvest King is cool but I would never marry him. Lol. 1. He is super tall and like twice the size of the character. 2. He is kind-of scary looking and looks like he's wearing eye make-up. 3. You have to finish the whole storyline before marrying him, and there are barely any gifts that he loves. 4. You have to see him on his throne, which is hard to get too, and he doesn't live with you.

No they actually only have one more heart event, and that is the love letter which actually isn't a heart event, when you think about it. And they don't make any more sense than ToT. I think the ones in ToT are much sweeter and more meaningful. As far as the cutscenes, though, and rival events, and opening and closing, etc. were much better in ToT. I believe in quality over quantity. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Plus the Harvest Goddess was in ToT. And riding cows doesn't really matter to me.

Yes, you can play as your kid in ToT. Only thing is, when you do and give them your journey rucksack, you start over as the main character of your child's gender, and have the same story. The only differences are you have like the same name as your child, you have the same amount of money, and level 5 tools or something like that. In Animal Parade, you do NOT get this option, your game just restarts after doing the pureheart event ^^

Yeah, I totally agree with the characters not being unique. And animal parade is, like, 3 times faster than ToT! I think AP is too slow, and ToT was a little bit too fast. When you get to the point where I am where you have a barn and coop full of animals and like three different plots all that need to be checked on every day and tons of crops and a kid... So, yeah. :3

I, too, noticed those slight personality changes; I agree: AP-Candace/Gill = not shy/mean enough. But some transformations I rather like. Luna went from brat to semi-bratty entrepreneur, which especially works in her new pairing with Gill. ...

Indeed, many "good things" about AP were originally introduced in ToT, but I think AP took the best of ToT and then expanded on it: the only reason I call it "better".

Maybe you can ring Bells relatively fast, but then there's that "Pure Heart" part for which you need a kid and stuff. Also (from the very start, but particularly "Nature's Bounty") ...

... Example: Talk once, and they mention the melody. Talk twice, and they say their heart level based response. Thrice, and they talk about marriage; four times, your kid; five times, the season/weather, etc.

I think the child system is nice in AP, too. Although it's TECHNICALLY less varied than in ToT, it results in much more resemblance to the spouse.

Although I could go on forever, I really need to shut up before I take up any more comment space. Very sorry. But it's a great debate. ^^
