I know what you mean about the voice thing. I've seen these dudes five times and each time the show is drastically different. The problem is that Alec (Ounsworth) seems to like experimenting with his voice a lot on stage, which is cool, but it can make for some unpleasant vocals. I'd say two of the shows I saw were out of this world, and the others were mediocre for the most part. I love this band, but their live show seems to vary quite a bit for sure.
