I'm chorally trained and I know from experience that covering songs is hard, but she's a professional. The song was fine, don't get me wrong, but I'm disappointed that she couldn't do the song without going into droll bout of pop slides at the end. Those few during the song were mildly acceptable because they were necessary to stylize the performance a little. Don't get me wrong, overall I liked it, but the ending made me cringe.

A for effort, but that was hard to listen to. Why does she always have to belt out that "YeaUhhohhhuhhoOhh" on every dang song? Way to ruin a claasic...and sound like a lounge singer at a Holiday Inn. Nina Simone she's not.
I think she did fantastic. Did a tribute but made it her own. Thats one of the things that makes a singer a singer. Someone who can sing a song and make it their own. In my opinion.
@mslit204 but that's her touch on the song...that's what she's known for. I get your point, she's paying a tribute to a jazz singer, but no one's gonna sound like Nina and any attempt to duplicate will fall short, so she made it hers:)
@mslit204 Christina is Christina , she can only be Christina , she is doing a tribute she is not going to sound like Nina because she is not Nina every on has they own sound and the own way of sing , i do agree about the ending but that is how she is ,her riffs , her runs ,her finger moves and the tapping of the Mic as she sings that is what makes her comfortable on stage .

What a surprise!
Should Christina rise to jazz-level?
I hope so, I would be her fan, as I listen this performance.

Whether or not she does the greatest version of this song, God bless her for paying homage to Nina Simone and the Gerswins,

Doesn't sound like Nina, plus how can you tribute her without playing piano? Half the work.

@xaviere89
Because she is not Nina
SHE IS CHRISTINA

She does a pretty good job. She does a good job of fitting in Nina Simone's shoes with the song.

Great job, Christina. Now it's back to your regular job, of wearing the sluttiest thing you can find and singing songs like "Dirty".
What a complete waste of God given talent. She could do so much more with so much less.

who's on the piano?

She has a beautiful voice, but she certainly doesn't know subtlety like Nina did. It was going so well until that final line.

@mslit204 a wonderful ending to add the christina flare we have all learned to love
missmcmahon 11 months ago
@mslit204 yes, the final line is slightly overdone, but overall she did it pretty well.

I Love her in that lower register. And then she brings it home with the POWER she's best known for ;)
