i really like that number of recent apps thing. My gs has a little window that pops up when you long press the home key and it only shows 6 apps. It COULD be an easy way to switch to different apps if it was designed better :/
Wow, the barcode scanner launched in less than a second, on my 2.1 Galaxy S it usually takes three seconds or more. Can't wait for the firmware update.
@devo229 I flashed it yesterday...it doesnt have flash yet...as far as I know...Ive been playing around with it but theres no flash...hopefully theyll have it soon. Everything is working on my mytouch3g. On my wifes mytouch every once in a while she gets a FC in android market. And the apps2sd doesnt use the ext but instead the fat32...I dont really like that. Im hoping theyll get out a version with flash and apps2sd. Thats all they really need to add. and itll be perfect
great video, once cm 6.0 is officially out i'll probably have to motivation to finally root my g1, and mess with danger spl.... cm 6.0 looks great, i'm starting to wonder why google doesn't just hire you guys and make cyanogen the default for all android handsets
@raydar670 it's already officially out...and there is no point because Cyanogenmod is not the only ROM out there. Theres also Bugless Beast...Chevy....and a lot more.
Is Power Strip for Froyo only? I've got my Magic on CM4 still (waiting to skip straight to CM6) and I see it in searches of the android market... Either way, the app looks cool and CM6 looks great, can't wait for a stable release (use my phone for work so can't risk the nightlies).
whats that extended power controls widget called? i'm not talking about powerstrip, it looks like a modified version of the original android power controls widget with more features
@maglovato I know ADW very good. I compared both Launcher many times and i believe that LauncherPro is definitely faster than ADW, especially with activated LiveWP. Also the new Dock-Notifications (iPhone-like) in LauncherPro are very good!
I dont say ADW is "bad" but i say LauncherPro is better than ADW with the actual Version.
@z3ntn3l It's open source and has more options. Only reason drawer can be slower due to LWPs is because it can't "pause" the LWP if the drawer is transparent.
Excellent video! I have been using CM ever since JF stopped making builds - didn't know of a lot of these features - might be worthwhile for somebody to make a video of all the cool stuff in CM that isn't in the stock OS!
@z3ntn3l All software included with CyanogenMod is open source. While it can easily be argued that LauncherPro is a superior replacement for the stock Android launcher, LauncherPro is closed source, whereas ADWLauncher is released with an open source license and is thus eligible to be included in CyanogenMod.
@Okand2 I'm not a fan of the rounded corners either, but you can hack them out yourself. There's usually a themer on the forums willing to do it too. I think the rounded corners are one of those visual clues that you're not running AOSP, but CyanogenMod, so I expect they'll be a part of CM for a while.
@jokeyrhyme Yeah, I did it once but then there was a CM update that just messed it up again and I couldn't be bothered to fix it.. Back then there were updates like twice a week though.
The only thing stopping me from permanently switching from 5.0.8 to the nightlies completely is the lack of EXT support. Otherwise, my G1 is already perfect. Great job to the CM team, and I have to say, the stable release is gonna be one helluva ROM.
@mastermind7771 CM6 is super slow and unresponsive on G1. :/ Don't be in a rush to install it.
And the lack of Apps2Ext means you'll run out of space after installing only a few apps. Then you won't get SMS or voicemail notifications, and people will be pissed at you. :D
Is there another better Froyo ROM optimized specifically for the Dream? Cyanogen seems to be doing it as an afterthought. He's totally opposed to swap even though it makes these old phones much more responsive, for instance.
@jigglesnap Well, I discovered Firerat's Apps2ext script, so that's not as much of an issue for me anymore, since I can use my apps again =D (All 1GB of them >.>)
Also, CM6 runs fine on my G1, no swap. It's all in the settings, I guess. Try experimenting to find something that works.
(I've actually been running the nightlies for quite a while... didn't even stay on stable for more than a few days ^.^)
@mastermind7771 I'm worried about using that script, especially if they're going to implement it for real in a later release. And I haven't changed any settings. It's slow and laggy out of the box. :/
@jigglesnap Works fine for me. (Although surface dithering is on by default, which degrades performance for better visuals... I turn it off whenever I wipe and have to setup my settings again.)
