Thankfully, my wife (girlfriend at the time) kept this a secret from me the last month or so of the deployment. I was completely clueless to the whole thing. @CARMINEOWNZ despite the fact he is in the military. being in afghanistan for a year is all tax free. guessing his wife has a job and just not living off his pay. he could bring 20,000 us dollars very easy. add a trade in on his last vehicle. probably has very low payments on his dream car. that is how this is done. by the way since he got the car while being deployed he is not going to pay taxes on the car as well.
@CARMINEOWNZ just because they live below their means doesn't mean they can't afford a second car payment. Of course, a lot of it is about reducing the principal to avoid paying on interest on a compound loan if she didn't pay for it outright. Of course, haggling well below MSRP helps.

@CARMINEOWNZ despite the fact he is in the military. being in afghanistan for a year is all tax free. guessing his wife has a job and just not living off his pay. he could bring 20,000 us dollars very easy. add a trade in on his last vehicle. probably has very low payments on his dream car. that is how this is done. by the way since he got the car while being deployed he is not going to pay taxes on the car as well.

@CARMINEOWNZ just because they live below their means doesn't mean they can't afford a second car payment. Of course, a lot of it is about reducing the principal to avoid paying on interest on a compound loan if she didn't pay for it outright. Of course, haggling well below MSRP helps.
