I just got my Palm Pre in the mail. It's a great phone, but the only thing I don't like is that you have to have cell service in order to do anything. What I mean is, you can't do nothing...at all. Your only looking at the "Palm Profile" and of course, I have to wait three more days for it to be activated :/

Question, I'm a person who likes to run apps music and text all at the same time, basically I like to multi-task. I was wondering which palm should I get? The Palm Pre or, Palm Pixi? I like the look of the pixi better than the palm Pre but I also liked how much extra stuff you get in the Pre, but I don't like the style of the pre. a smartphone typically has bad battery life, that's not something new. at least they give the option to swap batteries. apple's battery lasts a while, but you can't swap it, it's about a draw.

i really don't think it's worse than a blackberry keyboard, just slightly smaller. the BB keys are angled weird.

WebOS is also a LOT more developed now, there is hardware graphics acceleration in applications, video recording, etc. a lot of the things people had problems with are no longer a problem now.

I do not reccommend this phone. Like he says in the review, the phone is small. If you have smaller hands, I'm sure you'll like it more than a\someone with larger hands. The keyboard feels very plasticy. It is a solid phone though. The Palm pre does lag quite a bit. Downloading can be very slow. As someone said below, the Pre does take a while to finally turn on and the battery life needs a fix. As you shoud do with all phones, go to the carrier and test it out before you buy it!

@deftones133 the hell are you talking about. it works while charging, at least it does on the touchstone. it automatically sets it to speaker phone, doesn't restrict calls though.

i bought a touchstone for $20 on ebay so i haven't really used it with a standard charger.

I really wanted this phone... But the capacitive touch screen just ruined it for me. I hate capacitive touch screens because you can't use a pen or stylus and they only work right if your fingers are the perfect temperature.

I have this phone, and it's been pretty good to me. The only thing I don't like about it is the limited variety of apps. The only good one that I have is Sky Climber, but that freezes alot. I just wish there was more of a selection for the apps.

I love my Pre. With the recent update 1.4.1.1 I now have video recording. I ordered a tandem series (two part) OtterBox for it which is great. I've dropped the phone a few times and it keeps on ticking. Not one scratch on the phone or the screen not to mention the OtterBox gives the phone a whole new feel.

Theres too many things the Palm Pre has that just seem to have been copied right of the iPhone, like every big phone nowadays is trying to beat the iPhone, except Sony TBH. But look at the Wi-Fi icon, that is such a copy of the iPhone (The bit at top right)

Also the outside seems to be a big copy of Blackberry, and slightly iPhone.

This review was very good and I'm tempted to buy one, just too copied off iPhone, and I'm getting an iPhone in a week.

The palm pre has a proximity sensor when you are talking so it turns the screen off when you are talking to someone.

there is no landscape keyboard the only keyboard you have is the one that slides out. if you have slighty large fingers it's okay, the keyboard looks small but you really get the hang of it. and no, what is really cool about the palm pre, when you talk on the phone the screen turns off so your cheek can't turn off, but when you stop talking it goes back on so you can hang up or whatever.

3) I am coming off of the Samsung Rant and sometimes have the tendency of sending 2-5 page text messages... Does this phone have that ability as well?

listen i have 2 of these palm pree's. THEY GET WAY TO HOT. FALL OUT OF MY POCKET TO MUCH. SINCE THERES NO CASING ITS VONERABLE TO GETTING BROKEN. THE SPEAKER IS SHOCKEY.. SO THE VOICE WILL HURT UR EARS. IT CANT TAKE VIDEO. and the web browsing is hard. the keyboard is all smushed.
