i dont know wat to tell you guys i was a horror movies addictor but it ended up with a serious mental issues im not going to tell the whole story but believe it or not till now i cant sleep well and mirrors scares me, im just giving a small advise, dont watch horror everyday coz it will end up with u like me
this movie is based on a true story, that's why the situations were so natural and spooky to death. I couldn't sleep well for about a month after I watched this movie 10 years ago. After few years, The Eye (Jessica Alba) came to remake this movie but I think it's a remake-fail cause the american version can't bring the asian horror feeling into west culture as the story was happened in Asia.
I caught this on cable one night and loved it! The ending to this movie was so much scarier and horrific than the American remake. I was disappointed when I saw the remake ending.
question, whats scaryer? the american version or HK? usual the original is scarier but to me when it came to the ring i felt that the remake was scaryer O.o..
I'm not big on horror movies, but this is one of the best horror flicks ever. Don't waste your time watching the U.S. POS version. This is the one you want. The elevator scene is one of the creepiest things ever!
@Jklsays101 ....no, "The Eye" was inspired by a HK newspaper article about a young 16 year old girl, who after receiving a corneal transplant, committed suicide shortly afterwards. No one knows why the girl killed herself, but the Pang brothers wondered if it was something she saw......hence the inspiration.
I've seen about a hundred of horror movies and this remains the scariest of them all. too bad some idiot made a shitty remake with jesicca alba which can be mistaken by people.
@rellalita93 ....this version of "The Eye" came out: May 9, 2002 (Hong Kong).....June 27, 2002 (Singapore). The Jessica Alba version came out in February 1, 2008. BTW, Jessica Alba was nominated for a Razzie Award in Worst Actress category.
Asian cliched, pathetic excuses for horror movies with pale girls with long dark hair over their faces are utter crap!!!! I have NOTHING against Asia, but their moronic, badly acted horrors SUCK ASS!!!!! AMERICAN REMAKES RUUUULEEE!!!!!!!!!!
for me, this is the best horror movie I've watched! i watched it several times and i didn't finish it because i was really scared. but i was only able to finish it because i red the plot. lol :D
Jesus H. Christ! This looks horrifying! How ironic that the more horrifying a movie is, the more I want to see it. Instead of being the other way around. O.o
I think it's because we get a lot of excitment and pleasure from seeing things that are very different and shocking. Our attention always goes out to the most interessting stuff.
@KusMelody .....you think so? Curious as the general consensus of critics was the Jessica Alba version was inferior to the original, strong negative reviews and Jessica Alba was nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress because of this movie.
Who the hell would want to watch a flimsy flake like Jessica Alba replace the beautifully talented actress from the incredible original? I'll tell you who - Idiot Americans.
Been researching underrated scary movies. Ill ask you guys. Ive been told to buy The Eye(this version) and A tale of two sisters. If you have seen them and recommend either let me know. Thanks.
@MMAGuru08 i've seen them both! i'm a die hard fan of korean movies but i gotta say that "the eye" is a lot lot better than "A tale of two sisters". The eye have this kinda jaw-dropping scene, while the tale of two sisters is just a dull common horror story. And the other bad thing about the tale of two sisters is its more of conversations than suspense and action.
well, thats only my opinion! :)
PS: you should watch "the doll master". its freaky. :o
@cookiemonsterisheart Thank you. Ill check out the doll master also. Someone recommended Shutter. I watched it and really enjoyed it. Where would that rank with the eye?
@cookiemonsterisheart ...please pardon my nitpicking but "The Eye" is not a Korean production, rather it is a Hong Kong/Singapore production. But this is a very common mistake as there are very few Chinese horror movies out in comparsion with J-Horror and K-Horror.
@geekeing Oh I know it is not korean. i do know and can actually understand the korean language, I am talking about the tale of two sister which is a korean production. As i said, i'm a die hard fan of korean movies BUT i gotta say that "the eye" is a lot lot better than "A tale of two sisters". :D
@cookiemonsterisheart ....understood. Your comment implied "The Eye" is also Korean and I felt it best it be clarified that it isn't. There are so many who mix up Korean for Japanese or Chinese for Japanese or Korean. I once read a comment who thought a Chinese girl's grandfather must have fought for the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and when challenged insisted it was possible!....lol.... I often wonder....do these same people mix up British for Scot or for Irish?
@MMAGuru08 ....I strongly recommend purchasing both "The Eye" and " A Tale of Two Sisters". Both are very dramatic and suspenseful, good directoring. More cerebral than cheap blood and gore.
where can i watchthis version. when i search "the eye" all that comes up is the jessica alba one which because its an american horror i'm assuming its stupid
Theres this movie about this guy who is being haunted by this Asian girl he used to date. The guy broke things off with her. She was mad, and started stalking him, so him and his friends did something to her and she died. The movie has alot to do with pictures. In the pictures of him, there are white spots in it. The guy gets neck and back pains, and his picture is taken. In the picture you see the dead Asian girl in his body with her head leaning to the right or left. Know the name of it?
@Singerchiq11 ...you're thinking of "Shutter". But since you made reference to the girl being Asian, it seems you're asking about the 2008 American remake of the original 2004 Thai movie.

Is this a remake of a dfferent one or something? and if so is it american? because there is an english one snt there with jessica alba...
CoolJessie74 11 months ago
@CoolJessie74 this is the original version of the film. Hollywood, as usual, remade it and created an inferior version (in my opinion)

Watched this yesterday only two scenes scared the crap out of me....But the scariest one actually made me cry....:OThe scene where a ghost says ''why are you sitting on my chair?'' that whole scene made me cry my eyes out from fear! :O But I gotta admit it was a awsome movie!
