@niels718 Armies back at the time used several lines. The first line went into the firefight while the other lines acted as reserves or needed to stay there to be deployed somewhere else later on. If for example the first lines are faced with a sudden cavalry charge, they might not be able to form square and resist them. The second line can, so that the attack can be withstood and they can then fill the hole created in the first line.

@TheRock784784 i wasnt disputing that point at all but alot of people dont know that about the film, however the only reason you won was because of the French and Spanish, in 1812 we proved that by fighting to a stalemate, including the burning of the now white house in Washington ;)

I never discounted the role of France in american revolution , doing that would be same to regard the minor cold war era conflicts like afghanistan as being genuine and untouched by outer forces , the only thing is that the superpowers were divergent in every era :) every war has it's partisan activity , i would assume burning of the white house to that list , and plus , don't be misjudged by my avatar , don't speak of that victory as "mine" , i'm not american :)

@niels718 Armies back at the time used several lines. The first line went into the firefight while the other lines acted as reserves or needed to stay there to be deployed somewhere else later on. If for example the first lines are faced with a sudden cavalry charge, they might not be able to form square and resist them. The second line can, so that the attack can be withstood and they can then fill the hole created in the first line.
