  • Fabulous video. Funny and quite amusing. I can totally relate to being the paperboy too...thinking of all the wierd things you experience when you do that, especially when you used to have to collect money from the subscribers.. Great song, and great direction on this one. The 3 women are a great addition to the feel of the video.

  • So what your saying, is you drink a lot of root beer?? LMFAO

  • Hi Jessie, It's cheklove

  • the reasoning behind why this shouldn't have gotten a videofact is ridiculous.

that's like saying someone shouldn't get a canada council grant because their painting is never going to be in the gallery YOU are familiar with.

Videofact gives opportunity to artists on screen and off and serves as a platform for more than just the recording artist. There's an entire concept and team involved.

Be happy videofact isnt funding women's behinds and champagne bottles....you know..the real artistry

  • 4:05 - 4:10

    Is that MC Frontalot?

  • That's Ghettosocks.

  • That's the Wordburglar

  • My favourite Canadian rapper, better than Classified, Ghettosocks, J-Bru, Quake any of those guys I like them all but I love WordBurglars style anyone that can work strawberry milk and the littlest hobo into a rap deserves to be pushing a Bentley in my opinion.

  • agreed Jdetic

  • First off, I think that both The Fresh Prince (ie - not Will Smith) and Biz Markie were dope rappers. And they're far from the only black rappers that use comedy to entertain.

Second, just because a rapper is using comedy doesn't mean they don't take rap seriously. It just means that they're light hearted individuals that may want to bring some fun to the music. It also has nothing to do with their ability to rap. There are many dope comedy rappers and many wack rappers of other flavours.

  • "First off, I think that both The Fresh Prince (ie - not Will Smith) and Biz Markie were dope rappers."

yea...that ended anything you ever have to say about anything hiphop...dont reach that hard to prove a pont that doesnt exist ok...let it go...the truth is the truth...

  • Right back at you... If you don't appreciate the skills of Fresh Prince or Biz Markie, I guess we're just not on the same page musically. Not a problem. I'm sure you listen to a lot of music I would consider shit.

  • Im sure you have on your "Im more underground hip-hop than you" t-shirt right now but trust me, I seriously doubt that you wanna really go there Canadian...

    leave it alone...,

  • Oh, not at all. In fact, I don't even think I own a t-shirt with anything remotely similar to that phrase. My point being that there is a wide variety of hip hop being made out there and you're entitled to like what you like and I'm entitled to like what I like, and it's prefectly likely that our own personal preferences may never meet.

And I don't know what being Canadian has to do with anything...

  • this is on some i dont take rap game seriously shit, i love that shit, props!

  • white people love comedy rap dont they...especially the white people that dont really like rap...

comedy because its hard to be taken seriously when you actually arent that good, so lets use comedy to hide our mediocre or poor emcee styles

    fuckin dane cook hiphop hacks

  • insane talk of crack people, word to your mother

  • I'm sure that was the exact thought going through the heads of Biz Markie and Fresh Prince when they started rapping with a lot of humour in their lyrics... Odd that it might not just be the fact that dude likes comedy.

  • No, I'm pretty sure it's what i said.

Altho Will Smith & Biz are mediocre rappers & only known for the comedy & not the skills, you proved my point

but there's a diffrence in maybe 2 or 3 black comedy rappers & 2000+ white comedy rappers who cant really rap... Odd that you helped me prove 1/2 of my point with that comment but you really didnt mean to.

    thanks?

  • @xpoondiggy Stupid comment imo. Mainstream rap sucks ass....it's all about self absorbed ego....total trash.. This is some of the most creative stuff I've ever listened to....and the vid is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @paulfornasier you dont even like rap..you just liek the fact that he's Canadian...you're not fooling anyone...stop it lol

  • @xpoondiggy How the hell do you know what I like or don't like?? And yes....I can relate to this particular video and some other content of his songs because I'm Canadian. Is there a provlem witht that??? How much content in rap has relation to a particular country or situation??? Blind judgement is not appreciated... Liking or not liking is a matter of choice... Making personal judgements is a whole different story....

  • @xpoondiggy This guy is basically a comedian AND rapper. If you're trying to fit him in a slot....i think it's not a good thing. THis is what the music industry often does... I love alot of his stuff....and that's just the way it is. He DOES relate to the experience of Canadians and I love it... How many US rappers do that for Americans?? If you want to get an idea of my tastes...llsten to the independent music on CBC Radio 3 on the web. I don't listen to commercial radio very much...

  • @xpoondiggy Hey, there's all kinds of rap and all kinds of messages.. I prefer to stay away from the mainstream ego crap about money sex & power basically. I prefer rap that has a real message....and there is a hell of alot of good rap in that respect...and yes..the comedy rap is entertaining and different.. Why do the same shit all the time?...again..as mainstream rap tends to do...? Top 40 music sucks in my mind. I put my support behind alternative stuff....why i listen to CBC Radio 3...

  • @paulfornasier I agree with you and i am from america but there is good stuff in america like this also if you dig

  • @OfficialHelloClick Hey, I'm 49 years old.....I don't care about being an underground hipster. I just know what I like....and I hate most of the crap I hear on regular top 40 radio these days because the format gets really boring. You can have a different opinion..and that's fine with me. I like something more unique, different, and with a great sense of humour. I listen to all kinds of music. And, in regards to this one..I had a paper route when I was a kid, so I can totally relate to it.

  • big up the halifax weather girls doin they thang in the background !

  • big up the halifax weather girls doin they thannd in the background !

  • how music like this gets videofact boggles my mind. no one is checking for this. honestly giving money to artist like this who will never go anywhere is not helping the music industry at all.

  • you're so fucking ignorant it's almost funny.

  • This video was made without the benefit of a VideoFACT grant, but thanks for your clever industry insider opinion anyway.

  • acctually it is go to videofact website look it up and come back and admit that i was right, i'll even make it easy for you here is the link w w w. videofact . ca/ news/ show/ 31 remove the spaces and there is the answer

  • Oh, well I'll be damned! You're right. I thought he hadn't got a grant for this one since it was so soon after his previous one, and since he and Palermo go way back.

But I'm glad he did, because that means my boys got paid!

  • you just proved my point that nobody is checking for this crap and the only reason you are is because YOU KNOW HIM! otherwise you would have no interest in it

  • i meant to reply to this comment. fuck oh well the point is the only reason you take interest in this video or artist is becuase you know them. otherwise you wouldn't care and would be able to admit this is garbage and a waste of money.

  • It's possible, given the deplorable condition of music broadcasting in this country (on this continent, even), that the only reason I KNOW about the video is that all parties involved are friends of mine. But if Burglar and I didn't have similar views on rap, I don't think we'd be as good of friends as we are.

To be frank, this isn't my favourite Wordburglar song. But as a lifelong fan of hip-hop (and erstwhile Halifax paperboy), there's a lot for me to relate to in this.

    Sorry you don't!

  • The artist as well as many underground hip-hop artists from Canada are just as good if not better than the crap most artists outside of Canada are putting out. This may not be one of SJ's best songs but there are a LOT of good songs on this album. Buying the album was not a waste of money.

  • so you are admitting this is crap? anyways my point was that this artist dosn't deserve videofact money because his music will never be popular. so basically he will never make back the amount of money this video costs to make in music sales. thus he dosn't deserve this video because he could never earn it. u may like his music but you are a minority. when you consider other cdn rappers have made videos on shoe string budgets and have more views than this. i.e. richie sosa, luu breeze ect.

  • I didn't say it was crap anywhere in my last comment. I'm sure this artist deserves videofact more than any other artist out there. How can you determine if this artist won't make it big?

  • "are just as good if not better than the crap.." anyways how do i determine if an artist will be big? i'm solely basing it off the fact that he had already received videofact for cream of wheat, that went nowhere i.e. no radio play(in toronto) no much music plays, no international appeal (based on the fact everybody commenting on this vid is cdn) i think Much is helping out east coast hip hop too much because of Clasified's relative success which is largly based off his hard work and touring

  • "than the crap most artists outside of Canada are putting out".

Somehow these artists need to put their music out, even if they're from the East Coast. Classified can't be hogging all the east coast glory. Maybe this song shouldn't have been made into a video? Maybe Spit Fresh with More Or Les or Eight Rappers And The Mason should've been put to video. Maybe I'm speaking too soon.

These rappers aren't specifically try to put the East Coast on the map; they're trying to put Canada on the map.

  • For your information, Much Music loved "Cream of Wheat" and gave it a decent amount of play, especially on Much Vibe. They even picked the video as one of their top ten VideoFACT funded videos of 2008. Anyway, this is probably just not the type of hip hop you dig, but others do...

  • "this artist dosn't deserve videofact money because his music will never be popular. so basically he will never make back the amount of money this video costs to make in music sales"

Videofact isn't bottom line driven. It is a grant. They aren't concerned with turning any sort of profit. The point of giving out the grant is to promote Canadian culture, not to give it to the artist who they think is the best investment.

  • this is the best response. now it makes sense and adresses what i have been saying/ asking. thank you seriously

  • Great song, and not just because I was also a paperboy.

  • If you listen to the song without watching the video first you'll really love it ... The song it's self is much better than the video !

  • ahhhh weird

  • the song is about him being a paperboy , haha , nothing else to get about it

  • I understand the content of the lyrics, but not the video. I don't understand why the day repeats, and what happens to make it change?
