  • fair fucks to Marc for making a cameo appearance in this :)))

  • Love this Song, It's also my aids life, after 27 years this past oct' - I had surgery today it's a painful and at times a very lonely disease - men pls play Safe(R). No DL! Peace out!

  • When I sing this song-- it's THIS song.

  • I had the vinyl version 12" I remeber reading the album credits as mentioning it was made to raise funding for Aids research.

  • A superb piece of art. RIP, Jhon. Love to you, Sleazy

  • Lovely.

    QP

  • This makes me PMSL!!! It's good though

  • I love Coil. I have some songs with similar songs. And my song Wound Of The World and my other one Land's End are both in tribute. And so are so many others.

  • this is grim!

  • 93/93

  • good funeral song

  • This is how the song is suppose to be

  • This song is probally one the most depressing and bleakest songs that there are. Not a bad thing at all, it's like being unable to wake from the darkest nightmare.

  • This song is incomparable.

  • The link for this song made me think of Einsturzende Neubauten

    watch?v=eo3TUtRnZi4

    Funny

  • The fastest song i ever heard.

  • superb! I'm looking for a video off "murder in reverse" anyone?

  • Coil sings this song, Best.

    I LOVE COIL !!

    QP

  • Absolute brilliance, love it

  • This is depressing as fuck. Not hating people just making point.

  • @PityOnThePawn : No, the pussycat dolls version is utter horsesh*t. Come on, like anyone would listen to those chicks if they weren't hot? Seriously, pop is cr*p music.

  • @starkfist pop isn´t crap. but the bullshit that is created within highly commercial "music" nowadays is. pop itself is great!

  • @pityonthepawn What about the Living End's?

  • 93/93

  • ...I suddenly became depressed :( this is the power of Coil? D:

  • if they had speeded up this song just a tiny bit it would be amazing!

  • Someone actually suggested tripping to this band. I'm glad I listened to it sober first...

  • @TheEpizootic If you want to trip to coil then grab some of the more ambient stuff, like Worship The Glitch.

  • a sparkling dirge for anyone who has ever loved or lost

  • It's funny because when I make my own music with protools 8, It sound like this !

  • @Staphylin LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happens when you use version 9, hahahaha, does it sound better? Get real man!!!!!

  • Waxx Trax

  • i need a therapy session now

  • after the Soft Cell version, this is the best, love the crashing synths on it:-)

  • @inocookiemonster You can't compare Marilyn Manson's or Coil's or Soft Cell's or Gloria Jones' or even the Pussycat Dolls' versions of this song. They're all different, and they're all good in their own way. Manson's is heavy with a great beat, this is bleak and depressing, Soft Cell's is complete New Wave, Jones' is Motown and funky, and the Dolls' is a pop tune. Each has their own pros and cons. Incomparable.

  • @PityOnThePawn Yes you can compare them because they are different interpretations of the same song, if anything is comparable it is a variation on a theme. So stop being a nazi by telling us what we can and can't do.

  • @PityOnThePawn I like the two versions

  • @inocookiemonster marilyn version is not 80s u prick. these guys dont have a shit load of producers and editors and music editing software etc. so shut ur ugly face hole, since u know nothing from music anyway.

  • Wow! What a version!

  • Coil does this song so much justice, video and all. Beautifully haunting.

  • @cullyvan Oh sigh...

  • Comment removed

  • @cullyvan I don't know what you're trying to imply, but I think I can speak for many that even if the production methods are slightly outdated, the concept is still relevant and highly influential.

Seriously, they almost invented Industrial music.

  • Comment removed

  • @cullyvan Cool.

  • @cullyvan If you had watched the whole video through you would have noticed that all the profits went to the Terence Higgins Trust who provides counselling and information on A.I.D.S. So NOT just another money grabbing scheme.

  • Comment removed

  • @cullyvan wow ignorance. they did this for AIDS awareness and released it as an official AIDS benefit release. Research first, then talk. They donated 100% of proceeds to AIDS fundraisers. Clearly you know NOTHING about Coil. They were artists, not profiteers.

  • @Ikarimalice sorry. I'm taking the original comment off

  • Great cover

  • this song can mean many things.. any way it is done ,, it is a great song ,, but Marc version is always way up onthe list ,, LOVE MARC ALMOND

  • @ShotgunDecoy it doesn't matter that's still a horrible thing to say

  • And now they're both gone. What a shame...

  • u know Brütal legend? theres a fraction whos called tainted coil^^ Déja vú:D

  • @Tw1st3dP00ki3 This version was about aids awareness.

  • @Tw1st3dP00ki3 Kind of hard for me to explain things right now (you can guess why) so excuse me if I don't make any sense. What I was trying to say is that Coil is trying to portray a specific emotion, utter depression, which can come out of unrequited love.

  • Oops, meant to type "this version of the song" in my reply to Tw1st3dP00ki3, I am aware that the Soft Cell version was more focused on your basic bad relationship :)

  • @Tw1st3dP00ki3 Actually, this song is about someone dying from contracting HIV/AIDS from their lover. You'd be pretty effing sad if that happened to you, I'm sure D:

  • @onegirlbanned You're wrong. This song was originally written in 1964 by Gloria Jones well before AIDS/HIV existed. Soft Cell covered this song because the gay community was the first to succumb to these diseases. That was the reason this song was so popular in the Eighties.

  • @SickAmongThePure1 The reason because this song was so popular was because of it's bassline/melody. Saying it's because of HIV or gay shit is just craziness.

  • @WilliamAztech You're missing the point. You're right with regards to the original but this cover puts the lyrics and tone in a different light, giving it new meaning.

  • @err0r I wasn't referring to this cover, but to the Soft Cell version, which became the real hit. I was replying to someone who claimed the Soft Cell version was a hit because gay people were dying of Aids, which is nonsense.

  • @onegirlbanned CORRECTION:Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of The Four Preps, which was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1965.

  • @Tw1st3dP00ki3 Never heard of this band? Not really surprised, but they're one of the most respected bands out there (in their genre). Peter Christopherson, the co-founder, was one of the godfathers of Industrial.

That said, they took the song and, I feel, made it fit the lyrics fucking perfectly showing how utter depressing unrequited love is.

  • rip jhon and sleazy...i miss both and i know both from the early 80´s...still keep my love for this brilliant guys on the road to nowhere....

big hug to all coil fans, friends and "family members"

  • Psycho.. :D I like it!

  • Try Godstar

  • This is so...........not good.

  • @jgreen913

    eat shit

  • @odenskrigare While the banality of your remark demonstrates juvenile thought processes, I would hope that you have the sense to know and understand that coprophagia will, in no way, make this song or this ridiculous musical ensemble palatable. Soft Cell FTW. Coil FAIL.

  • @jgreen913

While the pretension of your remark demonstrates insecurity in the degree of your intellectual achievement, I would hope that you have the sense to know and understand that pomposity will, in no way, imbue your retort with anything even remotely resembling rhetorical sting. odenskrigare FTW. jgreen FAIL.

  • @odenskrigare While the haste of your reply demonstrates an evident compulsivity most likely related to the very same melancholic affect that permits your conscious to enjoy the baseness of this attempted cover, I would hope that you have the sense to understand that my retort was directed towards your desire for me to consume fecal matter, when you are, quite frankly, doing just that in your consumption of this pathetic attempt at music. I do not wish to sting you...rather move you past crap.

  • @jgreen913

    lrn2industrial and lrn2open mindedness

I highly recommend you take an acid trip or something similar; might grease up those neurons a bit

  • @odenskrigare That was fun, but now, I am bored. Good luck with your coprophilic pathologies. You might want to see someone about that. Over and out. Oh yeah, sorry, but I will not respond to you any longer. I actually have a job and need to work now. Have a nice day.

  • @jgreen913

I make 25 USD an hour.

    You jelly?

  • wtf? I don't know why this is so good it's so boring and he can't even sing ??

  • @Luburium

    eat a dick

  • scatology is such a great album. i fucking miss Coil so much

  • best version of this song i've ever heard

  • I'm so bored I think I might go and kill myself just for some excitment!!!

  • dat dx7

  • WOW!!! This is what i call a good house music! Those are some real beats, ay???

    hehehehee ya daft bastards......

  • It doesn't get much bleaker than this.

  • @hermexhermex agreed. This is almost depressing.

  • Shit! I found out only NOW that also Peter left us... too bad! Jhon & Peter were THE Coil, even if I respect Bill Breeze, Thighpaulsandra and all the others collaborators. Well, Coil is now history. Officially.Thank you for all you gave us!

  • the most depressive and painful tainted love....in the memory of all the people who lost their lives because of the cursed disease of aids.

  • .OMG! Blah

  • music lost a genious...RIP Peter

  • rip sleazy

  • RIP bro....your music changes the music of the world.

  • I am sad today. Rest in Peace Sleazy.

  • Every man and every woman is a star. RIP Coil. All my music is dedicated to yours.

  • R.I.P. Chris Christopherson, Genius....Sleazy 4ever

  • RIP Sleazy thank you for wrighting the soundtrack to my life.

  • After I got out of the hospital last year, during the awkward period when I was trying to decide how to integrate AIDS into the life I hoped I would still be able to lead, 'Tainted Love' was the piece of music I kept returning to again and again. Like all the best music, it drew out my sadness, confusion, and fear, the better for me to experience them fully so I could examine and learn how to deal with them.

I owe Sleazy and Jhonn a debt of gratitude that will now never be repaid.

  • @ShotgunDecoy Kill yourself. Seriously. You're worth nothing to the human race. Put a gun in your mouth, pull the trigger. If you have children, kill them too. We don't need you. We don't want you.

  • @JesusKrispies

Woah man, it was a reference to a comedy if you don't know, don't fucking insult me for misunderstanding.

Also, chill out. You seriously don't need to take things that seriously.

  • @ShotgunDecoy whoah man, you're a fucking retard. Even though it might be a comedy reference, that was way uncalled for.

  • @nejc003

Shut up cunt, was I talking to you? No.

  • @JesusKrispies You are amazing, just thought you should know that.

  • @Isosyth Heheheh....that could be either really good or really bad...

  • @JesusKrispies Thats if your telling the truth ??

  • @BlackNeon9 The truth about....?

  • R.I.P. Peter Christopherson. Your hand in music has touched many. You will be missed.

  • @eric1012wi he also directed this vid...RIP Sleazy Pete

  • rip sleazy

  • rip, sleazy. heaven's jam band is fucked now, jhonn and sleazy are both in the house.

  • Sleazy, ceast to exist. RIP Peter

  • very sad time.RIP Sleazy......

  • RIP Oh great man that has gone from a life filled with all sorts of madness...

  • Rest in Peace Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson. Such sad news.

  • @kafkatastic at least he had a dignified death in his sleep at home.

  • R.I.P. my master ;(

  • R.I.P. Sleazy....

  • is this the original song?

  • @GuitarristA1quimista no, the original came form the 60's by Gloria Jones. then soft cell in the 80's then Maryline

  • We continue to lose too many to ignorance...Damn Damn it is not right. G-d forgive us all.

  • i never thought there could be a better version of this song than Soft Cell's, but here it is. Marc Almond knew it too, to his credit for appearing in this video. Rip Balance

  • marilyn who?

  • I'm sorry, but quoting Aleister Crowley at 5:33 immediately reduces this to the level of camp. Crowley is like Ayn Rand for people who do more drugs.

  • lol aids and tainted love... makes sense to me lol!

  • coil were great RIP johnn Balance

  • Wow. What a heavy and powerful video. Bravo!

  • pretty dark. was this song originally about aids? Never thought of this when I first heard the song

  • beautiful!!!!!!

  • Brings back memories of the sad eighties aids crisis It is so moving many of us forgot what it was like

  • very tetric or freaky version totaly strange

  • Powerful.

  • Fuck me! Incredible! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! <3

  • WTF this is awful.

  • Love this group. Deep, experimental and totally out of the box.

Not many acts like these days. Really feeling them and other dark alternative acts like Throbbing Gristle, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, KMFDM, Gary Numan, Allflaws

  • @mindcellest Nine Inch Nails? come on. they don't belong in this sentence

  • Awful... God Awful.

  • this great!!!

  • LOVE IS THE LAW. LOVE UNDER WILL

  • Good, but repetitive

  • i'm not in mood to listent to this song, but i have to admit that is a good job...

  • please watch my version of TAINTED LOVE, tell me what do you think

  • sounds like Leonard Cohen on valium!!

  • Wow................

  • If i want to listen to Coil, what am I to begin with?

  • @milkwithcake "Scatology" is their first, and likely best album ever, though perhaps not for the faint of heart. It's incredibly eerie, but I love it ;)

  • @milkwithcake

most public friendly album is his final one, The Ape of Naples. Has the most traditional songs on it.. "Fire of the Mind" and "Going Up"(ironically enough that one is also the final song he recorded before dying) are two good ones..

  • you don't just throw shit on manson about his expensive set...after all each of these bands has their reasons, manson probably did the gothic-high school thing since this song was the soundtrack...., on the other hand coil has got its tone right too. may b it IS still a matter of opinion, may b u should be more open minded...by the way i do like both of them, but not every song of course.

  • fucking shite... in my opinion.
