Roger was great but I'd say Nadal was simply exhausted after back-to-back tournament victories. Prob played this tourney to lessen the gap between him and Fed pointwise. But full credit to Roger for taking the opportunity after a rather poor season (for his standards), I really thought he was done after the 1st set.

Let's go back in time to Wimbldeon 2001, Federer defeated Sampras in the fourth round. Plus, Sampras earned 14 Grand Slams out of 52 appearances and Federer has earned 11 Grand Slams out of 33 appearances, and Federer is TEN YEARS younger than this guy.

I was surprised Nadal even played this tournament. He grinded out a full weeks worth of tennis the previous week in winning the Italian Open. Last year he skipped this tournament after the Italian Open. Federer went out early in the Italian Open, and got to rest before this tournament. Rafa admitted he was tired after this tournament.
