  • what´s the exact date of that event?

  • did moondog go down to CWF in 88 as detroit demolition ?

  • These guys are like a...walking disaster or something.

  • what year did demolition debut

  • @nightwolfe28 1987

  • hahaaa MOONDOG REX!!! Traded the denim for the leather..

  • Rip off or not, these guys were good.

  • goofy face paint. bad haircuts. total LOD ripoff. never liked em.

  • @90038jhon The Legion of Doom moniker was not given to them until 1990. Demolition was wrestling in the 80's. How then would they be ripping off a group that wasn't around yet. And yes I know the LOD are the Road Warriors. Who were wrestling at the same time and before Demolition was formed. But I don't see any resemblance to them.

  • @DJBillHype In all fairness, they were in a group with Jake Roberts in GCW called the Legion Of Doom. But I agree. With the exception of having face paint (which alot of guys had back then), there was very little resemblance.

  • @Rayla840 alot more then just roberts in it. hawk, animal, arn anderson, jake roberts, king kong bundy, skeik and i cant remember the last one.

  • @brokenwing36566754 Oh yeah, I know. I remember Roberts, Warriors, and Spoiler in it.

  • The look on Mancini's face after they boo Bellomo is priceless...Lol...

  • I like how the fans boo both teams in the introductions

  • man they looked horrible here. they said nwa/wcw had bad gimmicks. put them in an nwa/wcw ring and it would be one of the worst gimmicks ever.

  • road warriors rip off? more like a mad max moive ripoff.

  • @TheShootTruth10 That's where they got the idea from. Specifically from "The Humongous"

  • the jobbers back in the day can out wrestle cena mvp and the entire new generation

  • They sure can't draw like Cena, though. Grow a brain. Bashing Cena is so old and lame.

  • @Edgehead10075 ....a bit like your typical Cena match.

  • Yawn. Cena's matches are "old and lame"? How can a match be "old"? Dumbass.

  • @Edgehead10075 there not old they just suck ass

  • Just accept Cena's greatness; he's the Hulk Hogan of this era. He puts the asses in the seats and sells merchandise.

  • @Edgehead10075 Not even close. I can't stand Hogan or Rock, but Cena and the WWE dream of Cena being just a fraction of what Hogan and Rock were, even if that fraction is only for a few minutes. I feel bad for the young wrestling fans that missed out on the 80s and 90s.

  • I disagree, but you have a right to your opinion. I will say that the young fans really like Cena.

  • @Edgehead10075 Thumbs Down!

  • The reason that Rex was replaced because many people recognized him as Moondog Rex even with the facepaint on.

  • I saw Demolition when they came here in Winnipeg man they where old but it was kool seeing them casue it brought a lot of good wrestling memory's

  • best tag team ever, the DEMOLITION!not this moondog crap tho, darsow woz lot better1

  • Still mad they never made a wrestling figure for Smash. I had to buy two Ax's.

  • @zao24 If you're interested, Mattel just made a Legends set that includes both Ax and Smash.

  • @guysanchez oh that's sweet but I've always been an LJN guy.

  • @zao24 yeah they did make a Smash figure. i had it. around 1990/91. in fact it's still probably at my mums house....ah memories....

  • You can tell at this point Demolition were just a raw throw-away tag team gimmick that easilly could have gone south very quickly. but ended up becoming one of the best tag teams of the 80's. Also did you notice the banner on the ceiling is on some sort of pully system? I wonder if that if that was done to cover different camera angles?

  • @SuperstarOfWrestling I think your right about the banner. I think maybe only some of the matchs were to apperar on the superstars show, so they would raise or lower the banner according to the match. Just a guess idk.

  • If Bellomo and Mancini had a Mini Cooper they'd have been known as 'The Italian Job-bers'

  • I was disappointed when first saw Demolition, Because I knew it was the masked Superstar and the moondog.

  • "coming down the aisle, Ax and Smash The Road warr... er, I mean Demolition!!!"

  • Mario Mancini grew that same beard when he wrestled again in 2007 in the Northeast. The same kind of facial look.

  • a piece of history, pay your respects

  • @fan40 Is there even a thing such as the tag division aside from David Hart Smith and Tyson Kidd? As bad as they first looked it was still innovative. Plus this is when WWF had classic commentary. Now Raw has a face Jerry Lawler just pathetic and Michael Cole lame miss these Fink house show voice overs.

  • wow moondog rex.. as smash.. i never knew...

  • @arlichar11

Didn't last long. People still recognised him so they changed Smash to Darsow so they could establish Demolition as an original new group.

  • these guys came from the wasteland. lord humungus!!!!

  • yeah mantuar was the man back in these days

  • No wonder they where undefeated for a while.

  • @clipsryan and champs for about 485 days

  • I liked them better when they were called the Road Warriors. ;-)

  • The golde ole days ... when they still had real jobbers ... pale, ugly, and out of shape! LMAO

Can't believe people were willing to pay to see jobbers get beat up like this.

  • @calculus79 back then guess you had no choice but to pay and see jobbers get beat up

  • Federettes, 80's music summing up the recap of the match, Bruno Sammartino, Jesse Ventura, Howard Finkel promoting upcoming house shows in a town by you and, of course, jobbers used to make up awesome Saturday Morning wrestling.

  • bring out the gimp...

    gimp's sleeping...

well i guess you'll have to wake him up then!

  • this was the original demolition Randy "moondog rex" and Eddie "Ax" before Barry came along as the new "smash"

  • what I find funny is Smash (Barry Darsow) was also Crusher Krushive who teamed with Ivan & Nikita Koloff and fought the LOD In the NWA. I had no idea Johnny V was the fake LODs manager before Mr. Fuji.

  • Loved this tag team.........im sure everyone remembers Axe saying "gimme the boot" LMAO smash would put his boot on the top rope and Axe would throw some poor buggers head str8 into it LMAO .......what was their finishing move called?

  • Finishing move was called "Demolition Decapitation"

  • thanx 4 that buddy

  • Man, it's so Odd to see this version of "Demolition". Just doesn't seem right. The other team should have been called The Mama Mias.

  • @ylwapple45 or "Gay Mob" lol

  • weird...i thought mr.fuji managed them right from the beginning

  • I went to this tv taping in the meadowlands in jersey and this was the first time demolition appeared on a tv taping smash is moondog rex and ax is the masked superstar after this everyone knew it was moondog rex they got rid of him and then it was krusher kruschev the rest of the time

  • Ax was Bill Eadie, who was better known as The Masked Superstar and The Super Machine. Randy Culley was originally Smash. He would later come to WCW as Rex and later Dead-Eye Dick as The Texas Outlaws with Dutch Mantel and Black Bart. They wanted Stan Hansen in that skit, but Hansen refused. Hansen never believed in silly skits like that.

  • Dont forget though, Rex for a brief time continued using the Demolition Gimick after he left and went under the name, Detroit Demolition. He wrestled for COntinental.

  • @JamesTClement Excellent call!!!! I rememebr that now that you mention it.

  • the only promotion that i know of with the original smash was the wwf trading cards around that period.

  • Smash looks different...............

  • @originaldeadman1190 That's because it's the original "Smash" Randy Culley aka "Moondog Rex", which was replaced soon after w/ Barry Darsow who went on to become The Repo Man after his Demolition Run.

  • @JeffTheFutureJaros Yeah, Vince McMahon was stupid for disbanding Demolition in favor of Hawaiian "Crush" and "Repo Man" LOL. Wtf was Vince thinking?

  • I've wondered that so many times during my Life as a true Wrestling Fan that it's not even funny anymore, but i'm still laughing, LMAO, who knows, I think he was probably on good drugs in those days.

  • @phelpstherapper My understanding is that Crush was only brought in as a replacement for Bill Eadie (Ax). They left the 3 together to allow Smash and Crush to gel as a team pending the departure of Ax. But they never did, so when Ax left they broke up the team and let Smash (Repo Man) and Crush pursue singles careers. I could be wrong on all that but that's what I understand.

  • @ojiisanhikui

no they were together for about 7 months after ax left. (left in early 91 officially)

  • Repo Man was hilarious initially.

  • @phelpstherapper what hes always thinking about playa...........MONEY.

  • How many bouts did Randy Culley do the Smash gimmick with demolition before being replaced by barry darsow??? does anyone kinow exactly how many matches he had with Demolition??? Is there any promo pictures of culley and eadie of the team around anywhere???also when randy culley later went behind the mask of the tag team The Shadows who was the other masked man does anybody know ???thanx...

  • The other Shadow was Jose Luis Rivera.Ther are not many if any Promo photos that I know of.There is a imformaqtive sight called Obsessed with Wrestling you will see some photos!

  • Two tapings. Probably two matches, but it wasn't unheard of for guys to wrestle several times at the tapings, so can't be sure.

  • @wrestlebash82 I think he wrestled with the gimmick for about 3 weeks. So, not many.

  • I just noticed & realized that Mario Mancini wrestled against both the Debut of Randy Culley as "Smash", & Barry Darsow as "Smash", wow, what a coincidence.

  • Yes ,I noticed that also!!

  • Yeah, isn't that crazy, that couldn't have been planned, it had to just be coincidental, but that'd be a cool story to tell people for Mancini, if he's still live & kickin', don't know much about him.

  • Mancini---Jobber Personified!! Lol!! Yeah you are right Jeff!

  • Gotta love Mancini's face when Salvatore gets booed, sorta like "Yeesh, you hear these people booing you?"

  • I think this is the very 1st time I've seen the "original" Demolition with Randy Culley as "Smash" before Barry Darsow replaced him. Needless to say, Bill Eadie & Darsow really made Demoliton work during their time in WWF:-D

  • I'd love to see the match that Barry Darsow replaced Randy Culley as Smash, that'd be a gem worth watching for sure.

  • now a days Bellomo runs a wrestling school in Belgium, its funny that my fav. Tag Team debuts against 1 of my former teachers ....

  • Im surprised WWE hasnt brought back the Demolition gimmic. The Bashams would have mad an excellent new Demolition

  • McMahon punished Steamboat since Ricky screwed him by going on a leave around the time his wife was pregnant with future WWF start Ricky Jr

  • classic...glad they got Barry Darsow..he was better if ya ask me.

  • Demolition's spikes were so unthreatening that kids could pat them walking pass and nobody would even get scratched.

  • wow I never new Barry Darsow wasnt the orginal Smash

  • I had heard that Moondog was in the role first but I had never seen anything that proved it. Good video

  • Nope, It was ol' Moondog Rex.

  • Looks like Mario Mancini was starting to grow a beard at the time. He kept it mostly to a moustache. But you can see that Demolition was brand new. They didn't start doing that ax/smash pounding on their opponents' backs until six months into their tag team career.

  • Thats Randy Colley and not Barry Darsow as Smash. Darsow came in later to replace Colley

  • demolition was one of the better tag teams in wwf history!!!

  • Shame how Demolition were jobbed out in 1991

  • Classic Golden era

  • Road Dog Rex as Smash. Why does wwe do stuff like this

  • Ah, day one of the greatest times for me in wrestling.

  • WWF's version of the Roadwarriors

  • haha. Demolition sporting the furry boots, and the dominatrix outfits. That takes brass right there

  • WOW -people here are brutal. Culley was just fine. Relax.

  • Agree! He also has Tag-Team experience with the Moondogs who won the Title on 2 occassions! He is also not bad Technically! I think being rcognizable should have not been a big deal considering all of these other guys and their gimmiks later on in the Federation!

  • I agree .Especially with situations like Dolph Ziggler and Repo Man..

But the worst was when they tried to make Ricky Steamboat seem brand new ,when they just billed him as "The Dragon".

  • Yes , there you are!!

  • Thank you for posting this. I have wanted to see this forever. Wow, it is surreal to see Culley in there, he looks godawful. I am glad they got rid of the terrible hair and makeup as well.

  • YES! Ive been dying to see there actual debut My life is complete now lol. Thanks man!!!!!!!!

  • great video thanks.

  • Culley just looked like shit.

  • "look at Smash's eyes." ...oops, wrong character!

  • classic!! glad they brought in Darsow too!!

  • Culley looks like an out-of-shape obese version of King Diamond.

  • Das waren noch schöne Tag Teams :-)) genau wie LOD oder Nasty Boys :-D

  • Wow! Fascinating bit of history here! Thanks for the upload! :)

  • Demolition with Bruiser Brody boots. lol. Thankfully they brought in Darsow, Culley was horrid.

  • sweet ive been lookin for this video for a long time, ty :D
