  • P.S. If you'd like to use a modernized version of Fixedsys that also supports Unicode characters in a multitude of languages, check out Fixedsys Excelsior. The current version 3 is set at 12pt instead of 9pt, but otherwise the characters are exactly the same size. This may change back to 9pt in version 4, which will hopefully be packaged with mIRC.

  • David: That is an accurate and thorough walk-through; thanks for the video.

I thought I should point out that selecting "[x] Use default" would also work, providing you hadn't previously selected "[x] Set as default channel font" trereby changing the Default.

Also, the reason Fixedsys doesn't appear in Vista/7 anymore is because it's a deprecated (according to Microsoft) bitmap font [fixedsys.fon] rather than a TrueType or OpenType font [.ttf].

  • The font can't be seen in the program because of a setting in Control panel / appearance and personalisation / fonts / font settings - hide fonts based on language settings.

You can uncheck this to get the font back in the mirc list of fonts
