Enya does lead and backing vocals herself. She also does most of the instrumentation...that is why she never goes on tour. Yes, this was a lip synced show, since she cannot do everything all at once. Now, listen to it again and imagine her as the all the backing vocals and virtually all of the instrumentation....she is pretty freaking amazing

the guitar is hooked up to the speakers, and you can never see close enough to say they don't have microphones. I think if they were going to mime their playing, they wouldn't forget to still hook them up to microphones.

......if you have heard anyone play live...there are VAST sounds differences.

every TIME. There are literally hundreds of her voices, all singing at once in a song, Even the HUGE choir parts...alll her.Consider how much more flawless effort it takes to play and sing everything.

There are tons of performances out there that are played by live musicians that sound just like the recording. I'm a musician too, a music major, but it doesn't matter because neither of us are in that professional world actually working with Enya or anyone else where you can say you know for sure they're miming. If you were you wouldn't be spending time leaving comments on YouTube

Yes she's very accomplished at miming hence being so good at it. Listen to the recorded version then listen to this one and tell yourself they're not identical. Believe me i'd prefer to believe she didn't mime her songs, but every 'live' performance i've seen her do, really hasn't been.

Maybe this show has a rule, like TotP used to have in Britain, that all artists must perform to the original track, but as there is so little live Enya stuff out there, & as the song is not particularly taxing vocally, she would feel comfortable singing it live or doing a whole dvd live for us fans. :-)

Neither. It's all fake. You can't get the tonality that she appears to be producing because the sound is her voice recorded repeatedly over her own voice.

Even more, the backing track is fake because it sounds -exactly- the same as the song does. Even with a lot of precision, a group of musicians couldn't *exactly* reproduce the melody, beats and synchronisation of a studio-edited track.

Pay attention at around 2:03 -- why do the backing singers sound exactly the same as Enya herself?

Nicht nur, dass sie playback singt, sie steht auch wie eingepflanzt auf der Bühne rum und wedelt ein bißchen uninspiriert mit den Armen... Und dann dieses bieder angezogene Pseudo-Orchester und die dauergrinsenden Background-Mädels... gruselig. Wirkt alles irgendwie lieblos hingeklatscht, schade, von einer so tollen Sängerin hätte ich eine bessere Bühnenshow erwartet. :(
