  • dict.cc tells us, that in british english you can write it "artEfacts".

so not really an error here.

  • @Pproets I will not hear anymore of this communist malarkey. You are all wrong (yes, all of England is wrong) and I will smite you with the gray (GREY) hammer of justice.

  • Oh, christ, that dream scared the hell out of me. (and, DC, I used good puncuation for you. I know I misspelled 'puncuation,' so it sort of defeats the purpose.)

  • this game is brought to you by the old man from saw

  • Trilby has some creepy dreams.

  • This whole house is letting people in reminds me of Silent Hill. And, judging Yahtzee, I wouldn't be surprised if Silent Hill influenced it.

  • Why eat them alive if they're already dead?

  • I love how their heads just teleport back and forth instead of moving. Well, like my black friend says, all white people can teleport. It makes up for our lack of jumping skills

  • I seriously think this game should be made into a movie. It would be the first horror movie I'd actually want to watch.

  • How do you kill someone, then eat them alive.....?

  • @LunatheMoonDragon Very carefully.

  • @DeceasedCrab i guess the hermit just kills the person randomly revives him then swallow his whole body

  • @LunatheMoonDragon I think the game meant to say he killed some people, but ate others alive. xD rofl

  • Hmm..I know why they're all there! Someone wanted to throw the most awkward party of all time! WITHOUT CAKE! MY STOMACH it hurts!

  • How the heck did Simone get past the fence?

  • "Finders Keepers"? Really? Doesn't the property revert to the local bank or whatever, who then auctions everything off? Or is that only in the USA?

  • Hold on a second. How do you kill someone, then eat them alive? Such acts in that order would prove quite difficult, if not downright impossible.

  • he speaks the truth... not that I'd know or anything... um... YOINK!

  • God, that music always startles the hell out of me!

  • My school was like that, broak my collar bone while playing piley-on. Shut up Phillip

  • This bit reminds me of The Fallout Games, SO much Questions to ask!

  • it's alwavs a staple of the horror genre to have nightmares about killing everyone else.

  • The secret camera theory really does sound like an idea for a reality show. when you get voted off John Defoe kills you.

  • "killed them and ate them alive"??

  • wait... theres a bunch of stuff they could have used to break the windows!...or stack up stuff to get out...i guess that would destory the game though....

  • O.O I actually went holy fuck right that was freaky

  • Q: how do you kill somone and then eat them alive

A: You clone the somone, kill one of them and then eat the other one alive

  • I love these games but Yahtzee is still a fuckass.

  • I have just played this game, nice walktrough dude^^

    Really enjoyable :)

  • How could anyone KILL someone, then eat them ALIVE?

  • Stranger: "How old are you now?"

    Jim: "Nearly sixteen."

Stranger: "That's all I wanted to know."

  • Reminds me of saturday night at michael jacksons house.

  • how do you kill someone and then eat them alive

  • Very, very carefully.

  • exactly what I was wondering.

  • This has been bothering me. I think in an episode of Red vs Blue someone screams "She's beating me to death with my own skull! That's physically impossible!" or something to that effect. This reminded me of that.

  • The supposed hermit killed SOME people, and ate the others alive.

  • sorry i had to laugh! seven min of talking then BAM lol i knew about the music so i turnd off sound he he

  • "I'm not a thief, I'm a treasure hunter"? FFIX rip off

  • God. Not only are you wrong (Yahtzee hates JRPGs), but it's FFVI.

  • Agreed. :3 And Zidane is no Locke either.

  • Totally.

  • Yes, he's better than Locke.

  • That exact line has been said in a LOT of games, and probably some movies as well. >_>

  • @DeceasedCrab

It could be a reference to a work that's even older: Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables". The character "Thénardier" is seen looting the dead rebels after the battle (musical)/riot (book).

  • A.K.A, Big Brother!

    D.C is watching..

  • And the glowing lemur is watching him. Save his soul...

  • its not simone documentary its dc's "what happens when you trap people inside a house for five days!"

  • With only being able to watch DC's Let's Plays!

  • I love this game series. My husband found it, and I just had to play them myself. I can't wait until you LP the rest of the series, DC...but I won't spoil anything. The series speaks for itself.

  • I like how Trilby sleeps standing up.

  • Thank you for putting commentary! Thank you! :[

  • you're making me want to play these games again....

  • Poor english or australians they spelled a word wrong and now they have to deal with the wrath of Deceasedcrab!

  • best ending to a LP segment ever

  • How would he kill people AND eat them alive?

  • Maybe he meant killed them BY eating them alive.

  • One theory I have is that the supposed hermit killed some people and ate the OTHERS alive.

  • @reaperman2010

    I was thinking of that...

  • I am so excited to see you lp-ing this, but the anticipation of waiting for you to get to the third game is going to destroy me.

You do a great job blending the foreshadowing of you knowing what's coming with the sort of commentary that doesn't spoil anything.

  • Sorry for removing your comment, Tidale, but I did warn you guys in a previous video about calling this series by its proper name. No spoilers if you will!

  • Interesting game, but an occasional grammatical error is always a turnoff. Stuff like that is always worst in games that heavily depend on information.

P.S. That was the best way to end a Let's Play segment ever!

  • I was like o my god what happened.

    Seriously

  • To all those upset with the dialogue:

Shut up. It's Yahtzee. Yahtzee is an excellent writer, and it shines through in these games.

    So, again: Shut up. Philistines.

  • Yes. Up until 6 Days, he's a good writer.

  • Damn, didn't see that coming.

  • That scared the crap out of me. It's seems to be a great enviroment for a game.

  • Wow, this game is getting intense! It's starting to be somewhat like Clue lol

  • A good eight minutes or so in the same room. Exciting :p. I actually looked this up after i saw the first part and played through it. It took rather more thought at some points than i expected though :p

  • IT WAS YOU!

  • That actually WAS rather disturbing. I hope to hell the Grolly doubles as an incredibly effective weapon.

    ...Yeah.

    It doesn't, does it.

  • Not until Art of Theft, several years...before the events of this game.

...Way to disable your only defense, Trilby.

  • When I first played the series this year, it was the first time in a while I was generally scared during a game, despite how silly the plot *can* get. Of course, then I played the third one and the series lost its magic.

  • You're joking, right? The third one takes the series up a notch.

The FOURTH one makes it lose its magic.

  • That's Trilby's Notes, right? The ordering of these games is just a little confusing.

  • Trilby's Notes is the third one.

  • Holy scuz, this game is epic!

  • Hopefully the powersaw won't make another appearence anytime soon, unless it's Dexter paying a visit. The big dialogue is a lot to get through to see a glimpse of the horrors to come, but I never minded it. Any thoughts on LPing Ben Jordan: Paranormal Investigator?

  • Wow, that was a little freaky, reminds me of Clock Tower. That's an idea, it would be great to see you LP Clock Tower DC.

  • Thats what I said, The bathroom in the 1st part made me think of Clock Tower.

  • Jesus DC, i was about to go to sleep too. This game is bloody brilliant.

Silent buildup for a good 7 minutes, THEN THAT. I'm actually genuinely frightened. This is so different to the art of theft.

  • DC, I know this is off topic, but you seem to be well tapped into freeware games. I'm looking for a good freeware metroidvania game, but I can't find one. I know about La-Mulana, but can you recommend any other, even if it is not freeware?

  • ....Cave Story?

  • I've never noticed before, since the music won't work on my computer, but it's such a big part of the scariness factor of these games. Now I know why these never scared me.

At least I could hear the whispering in Trilby's Notes. Still not outright scary, but it added so much to the atmosphere <3

  • This is certainly a unique LP. And I'm loving it ;]

  • Philip reminds me of Locke from Final Fantasy VI. "I am not a thief! I'm a treasure hunter."

  • so tense

  • Nice LP, DC! I'd heard of this game before this, but I think I'll give it a go now.

  • I'm thoroughly enjoying this LP so far. Will you be doing a death reel out of curiosity? Part of the fun of any adventure game is coming up with ingenious new ways to push yourself off the mortal coil and in this game I only know two ways to off yourself, which I won't get into because of spoilersithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurtsithurts

  • I bet it does.

Actually I'm only going to show off one. The deaths in this are kind of unspectacular. They don't get really good until the later games.

  • 1. That dream was hilarious.

    2. That music was from RPG Maker 2003.

    3. Philip sounds like Locke from FF6.

    4. DC rocks.

    5. Numbered lists rock too.

  • Excellent work, sir.

  • This rocks.

I don't care what anyone else says, this rocks.

My goodness, this really drags ya in.

Even in the slow parts this is Quite a

Lovely game. Although It does have

    odd and not very

realistic in any way shape or form

    dialog.

  • The whole *nightmare* thing was a nice touvh. Made ya think it was really happening. XD

  • This LPs got everything!

    Eggings, Beatle references. Huzzah!

  • I remember playing this game, i thought someone got hung early in the game.

  • Well, the ending of this vid has certainly caught my attention. ._.

  • that scared the shit out of me

  • Hahaha, I love the reactions these are getting. Wait until later in the game and later in the series. Then you'll be in for a treat.

  • It hurts?

  • Oh yes it does!

  • I got the feeling that there is gonna be cannibalism soon.

  • Hey DC, doesn't this sound alot like 'And Then There Were None' by Agatha Christie? You know, people having their own reasons to coming to a house, they get trapped inside, odd things start happening... Mind you, if the game does play off the book, I'm kind of glad, since the formula is amazing.

  • The picture changed! ;)

  • what is this game made for just the pc like one of those old floppies?

  • Actually it was made a few years ago, to look like one of those games.

  • St. Trinian's Boarding School? There was a movie on that. A really awesome one. But it was a girl's only school.

    ...

    That is a boy, right?

  • The Hermit killed them and ate them alive? How does he manage that?

  • Well jeez, this doesn't seem good. Lets hope no one else is having crazy slasher flick dreams.

  • ROFL, ignore that last comment DC, ha.

  • Okay, but for goodness sake don't make anymore like em!

  • Im loving this LP this game is great!

  • I'm a little curious how someone could kill them then eat them alive. Just one of the greater mysteries of this house.

    5:36 was awesome!

  • the "Day 2" thing was so poorly done.. Even though this isn't like Majora's Mask or something it should still be done better and not just be the most boring text ever! Especially considering the awesome "you see yourself who is the murderer" dream immediately afterwards.

but I suppose that's an idiotic complaint

  • You are cordially invited not to comment again for the rest of this four game series.

  • If only AJ had been able to remember his cocoon dream.

  • Phil calling himself a treasure hunter reminds me of Locke from FFVI.

  • Haha...Trilby's already started to snap. I know I would, especially considering my hypoglycemia. Hunger and I do not go well together.

  • yeah we're all watching you.... wait.... Simone's T.V. special idea.... DC recording.... oh my god!!!

DC how much is Simone paying you to keep Trilby trapped in the house?!?

  • The other Trilby game was already a masterpiece and this one looks much like another one.

  • This game (and Let's Play) is really ratcheting up the tension with each video... I can hardly wait to see where this goes next.

  • I can understand why some people are complaining about the dialogue, but I still find it entertaining.

  • It was Stonehead. A distant cousin of Pyramid Head.

  • Speaking of dialogue, there's a joke in here if you keep looking at doors repeatedly (of course you may already know this)

  • I'm going to show that off between games. Yes, thank you for reminding me.

  • I'm from england, I say Artefacts. Artefacts, Artefacts ARTEEEEEFACTS.

  • Chip chip cheerio, spot of tea guvnor!

    Seriously. Artifacts.

  • Oh no! It's Living Lobster come back from Bizzaro World!

  • Trilby could use that umbrella he has in the last game that shocks people, he could protect himself from crazy murders with that.

  • Or he could use it to kill all the bats on screen at once.

  • Merchant: "Youre that thief, Locke, arent you?" Locke: "Hey! Call me a Treasure Hunter, or Ill rip your lungs out!"

  • Wow, the LP is starting off pretty nice! I hope to see more of Phillip Aka Locke soon.

  • woohoo! ^_^ its gud 2 finally read some propper English again.

    Also, 8:42 O_O

  • The mystery thickens!

    A conversation nets clues.

    The house is a trap!

    Rest your little head...

    Blood! Mayhem! Murder! Killer!

    You are the mad one.

  • Oh, I think this is a good change of pace, myself. An interesting, plot-heavy adventure game with dramatic elements is never bad to take a look at. Besides, as long as you full-screen, everyone should be able to follow along. Good game so far, DC.

  • I love adventure games. Played this one awhile ago, but it's good to watch it again. Love the game selection.

  • Wait, what? "Killed people and ate them alive"

If he killed them he wouldn't be eating them alive.

  • He killed people, then ate them alive?

    What?

  • "who killed people and ate them alive" wait a minute... well I suppose it could be separate acts of madness/violence/whatever, but looking at it like that makes it seem like he did one after the other.

  • Deceased Crab is watching you(Obscure 1984 reference).

  • do you plan on dying DC?

  • When you think about it, that's a pretty silly question.

  • Trilby with the candlestick in the Dining Room.

  • Trilby with the machete in the kitchen.

  • Phillip with the stick in the Conservatory.

  • OH MY GOD!

    DC Won the cluedo game!

  • This is one of those times I really wish you posted more than once a day. Hopefully things are due to get even better.

  • If you don't call Phillip a treasure hunter, will he rip your lungs out?

  • I don't know about you DC, but unless his research turns up at least 200 Whale Burgers and 300 Cans of Cat Food, I'm not going to be impressed.

  • 8:20

    "what was that noise?"

    MO-MO-MO-MONSTERKILL, i would assume.

  • This is an unbelievable game, considering it's basically one guy making it and with no budget or staff. I played it last year I think, and was really impressed.

But I always wondered: why don't the people just break or remove a window? How hard could that be? I guess they must be Super Windows of Unbreakable Evil.

  • How can you kill someone and then eat them alive?

  • You sound depressed when reading the dialogue.

  • You can't tell the difference between quiet/serious and depressed. I guess when I'm not shouting "HUZZAH BAKE SALE" every 10 seconds people think I'm depressed.

  • We do worry about you, DC.

...Do you...do you want a hug? I'm pretty good with hugs...

  • wait wait wait wait... he killed people and ate them alive?

think about what Jim said there.

killed people THEN ate them alive?

  • I might have to go check this one out myself before I continue watching this lets play.

  • Did anyone else notice the picture in the background? The man in the picture was there sometimes and gone othertimes, strange.

  • That music is what nightmares are made of. Don't let it get me DC!

  • Philip: "Call me a treasure hunter or I'll rip your lungs out!"

  • "I am not thief, I am treasure hunter" Where did I heard it before, maybe Final Fantasy VI?

  • Has anyone tried:

    a) Smashing the windows?

    b) Breaking down the doors?

    c) Building a human pyramid so at least one person can get over the wall and get help?

    d) For that matter, hauling furniture outside to help climb over the wall?

    e) Making paper planes with messages for help and throwing them over the wall?

    f) Posting a watch by each possible entrance so that next time somebody is lured in they can jar the door/window/etc. open and all hurry out that way?

    g) Burning the house down?

  • a,b) Seemed quite effective on the library. Depends on how well constructed they are, though; and how strong the capture-ees are.

    f) This sounds like it would take a suspicious amount of cooperation - something which the group seems to singularly lack.

    g) Just make sure not to get stuck inside. Since it can apparently lock entrances at will, it'd probably be best to set it on fire from -outside-, then chill in the pool. Don't know if they have any fire aside from the fireplace, though...

  • a: Glass Hurts

b: With what? Your bare hands?

c: Other side just has a ravine, and the wall is just too darn tall.

d: See answer c, and include the fact that furniture is really heavy.

e: See answer c, and add the fact that nobody is looking for them at the manor.

f: Not enough people to do that.

g: And kill themselves? Bad idea. Even assuming they go outside, just...bad idea.

  • The title is very odd and almost scary. "5 Days A Stranger" I don't know it just feels creepy.

  • Okay... questioning game logic! How can you kill someone, THEN eat them alive?

  • HOLY CRAP! that was quite the dream.

  • I acutly don't mind these mostly dialog videos. They add to the game nicely and the dream at the end was suprising. Good job DC as always.

  • Well good, because there's at least another one like it on the way.

  • You are going to play all four of these?

Count me in for an exciting year's end.

  • Whoah, creepy dream... Or Future Sight?

  • I couldnt have survived this video with out the high quality, so much talking I couldnt be able to read.

  • How can someone get killed then eaten alive, that does not make sense ! Jim must be hiding something.

  • Damn that music is creepy.

Still, it sets the mood perfectly after all the silence.

  • Sounds like the Shining!

  • It's impressive how these LucasArts-like Point'n'Click-Adventures always manage to build up some kind of special atmosphere which totally drags the player / viewer in.

  • Haha, I was just thinking how much this game style reminded me of Monkey Island :)

  • This is the part of the game that just sucked me right into it.

  • You've got that right! Indiana Jones - The Fate of Atlantis.. Monkey Island.. Lara Bow (damn was I stuck in that game, grrr...) It's cool until everything just grinds into a halt, and you start pulling hairs.

  • Arghh... look into the game before you coment about it, please. This IS NOT a LucasArts point'n'click adventure. It will not run on ScummVM. It's LucasArts P'n'C adventure STYLE if thats what you mean.

This game was made by one guy on the AGS (I think) engine.

  • Indeed it was. Thankfully, however, the poster you're replying to said "LucasArts- like ", rather than just "Lucas Arts".

    Irony is a beautiful thing.
