countryhoney28 - I knew exactly how you feel, I too as a young girl fell in love with Charlton Heston, I remember writing to him and getting his autograph. Many years later, I have come to fully appreciate the film Ben Hur, in all its story line, and love for our fellow man, and of course the story of Christ. (not quite how I see Jesus's story, but beautiful too). The Music Score cannot be beaten. xx
As a young girl I watched and fell in love with Charlton Heston. I yearned and hoped for a man who would love me as he loved the women in his life. I have always been touched by the romance and love-how he said that the ring he wore became part of his hand. My goodness, what woman would not want to hear those words and to be cherished so! Such a great film, it deals with every emotion a human being feels. The chariot race is as good as ever.
the only explanation i have to offer comes from the bible. john John 15:18-19, to be precise. but still, i've never understood why so many spit on the guy. he did nothing but good works. but he also told the truth, and people have always hated the truth. it's very inconvenient. very uncomfortable. very......unsettling.
@Dictator300 a remake was made, and released last year as a two part series and broadcast on canadian television. it was a low budget work, 20 mil or something. not bad, but it's nowhere in the heston league. actually, they shouldn't have bothered.
there's a couple of episodes on YT, and they're in my faves if you're interested.
@Dictator300 no prob. always willing to share ben hur stuff with others. i've been looking for the entire episode, but yt keeps pulling stuff. the entire '59 version was on for a while, but they got that too. however, it appears the '25 version is making a comeback - slowly.
dang. it's a complicated business having to put my vids in chronological order every couple of months or so, a real puzzle. but it is my passion.
@benhurfanclub Good luck with that. I just finished watching the videos. It's quite displeasing. Ben-hur marries in episode one, only commit adultery in later episodes? Dude, it's a tale of Christ!
@Dictator300 actually, he doesn't marry, but like the '59, he does get romantically involved with Esther. however, taking up with a prostitute is a bit much. also, the scene at the well was the worst of the movie. Jesus comes across as looking like some fanatical spaced out hippie. no emotion at all there.
@Dictator300 jews have always controlled hollywood. makes sense, since they virtually built the place. but to be fair, william wyler was a jew, and he did a good job back in '59. however, any jesus films today are for the most part made by independents. hollywood won't have anything to do with the guy. strange, since jesus flics are sure money makers.
@benhurfanclub Why do they hate Jesus so much? I think it's time Hollywood returned to their true owners. The Christians, or at least someone who won't eliminate Jesus. An atheist might show more respect. Maybe; huge maybe. Or a Buddhist. Yes, a Buddhist would show much more respect. Definitely show more respect. A Buddhist would definitely show much, much more respect. -nods-
@benhurfanclub There are plenty of Jews that both have respect for Christians and are at odds with the Hollywood elite.
I suspect it's more an issue with the socialists in Hollywood - like in academia or the arts, they don't have a controlling interest but are deliberate, spiteful and vindictive enough to often get their own way. And socialists utterly despise Christians, at least the ones I've met who weren't liberation theologians...
A great movie. Everyone has their own image of Christ, but this movie never shows His face, but instead shows the reactions to people's encounters with Him. Wonderful!

It's really funny because both MGM 1925 and MGM 1950's versions don't have a lion roaring

@benhurfanclub Hollywood and movies just haven't been the same since the 90's. =[
For some reason, Jews have control of Hollywood....
And they've done everything they could to eliminate Jesus Christ from movies. And these damn TV series haven't made it any better. =/
