He was considered a great sinner by contemporaries. Wnen he hurt his hand and couldn't perform (age 20), and was consequently cured, he wrote an enraged letter to God, in which Scriabin generously forgave God he had overthrown. Later he considered himself the Creator.
Besides that, he had a phobia for infection, often washed his hands; he ate neither a cookie that has fallen on a tablecloth nor a soft boiled egg ("What if a hen who laid it was phthisic?"). He died of streptococcus (sic!) on lip.
MY God from the Bible does not make my life easier on me, and if you think by being a Christian, you can do what you want and keep sinning - you are Not Christian, period. What do you think longsuffering means? Sinning is fun, easy way out - try to be Christlike for 24 hours and see how far your Christlike mind gets you then you will see how close to God you are.. Yea you will have temptations but THE SPIRIT fights the flesh as we should when we have immoral thoughts - do not manifest the sin
Thank you for posting this performance (that is a live performance(!!) at lord carnegie hall 05/09/1965) I think it is the most faithful I know, especially about timing.. I suggest many pianists misunderstand the "allegro-più vivo-allegro molto" and play it too fast, so that all become muddled, the time signature is 4/8, not 2/4, so the allegro referrs to the qavers, not to the semibreves.I don't know wich recording are nickus talking about, but I don't think it can be cleare enough if so short
the person who disliked this is a religious scum
zombiepunkthrash666 4 months ago
@zombiepunkthrash666 Scriabin was a member of the Theosophical society. He was a religious man, although a very heterodox one.

I'm not usually a fan of atonal music, but this piece paints such a vivid image. It's awesome.

Stanislav Yovanovitch has more dark atmosphere and is less fussy.

Wasn't that mysterium?

I was thinking, what if they destroyed the foothills of the Himalayas? Then Mysterium could never be produced and the world would never end.

Scriabin is Scriabin and Horowitz does the best he can with it, though it could be a more lyrical piece.

There's a better earlier live recording of this piece by Horowitz with a timing of around 6:50.
Horowitz owns this piece for sure.
