  • Thanks for the tour!

  • @6sxpressdotcom, Thanks glad you liked the tour.

  • Hi Bill, tanks you for giving itself these wanderfuls videoes, with historical content, beatiful places, and that teaches me a bit more on the history of your country, apart you are a good cameramen, soon I will raise videoes with places of interest of my country, i would be been grateful if you saw them .... a greeting my friend...

  • @fernando140887 Hi Fernando, Thank You very much, glad you liked it.

thanks for watching, be looking forward to your videos of places if interest.

    Bill

  • Great little school house. Looks like they are trying to keep it preserved as it looked back in the 1800's.

There are several old 1 room schoolhouses still around in my area. One of them has been turned into a full time meeting place for AA.

  • @JeffN727 Hi Jeff, Yes they kept it like it was in the 1800's, thats the way it should be.

  • Hi Bill, Thanks for sharing this historical place. I am really glad to see it is been preserved this long. This reminds me of my high school building in (1978) my village, which is no more and all came down due to termites and no maintenance at all. Again thanks for sharing this video with us.

BTW 5 STARS ***** for this.... but I don't know how to give that :(

    Ravi

  • @rrangana11 Hi Ravi, I am too, I hate to see history left to rot away.

Yea the stars are gone, Youtube has a "good" or "bad" rating system (Thumbs)

    Thanks for watching.

    Bill

  • wow that's pretty interesting! there's an old 2 room school house within bike riding distance of my house, bigger than this one, and it's been abandoned for years! the town keeps going around in circles trying to figure out what they want to do with it. maybe I'll make a video of it sometime. my mom went to it back in the 50s before the public school was built. this used to be a really rural area.

  • @coolbluelights Hi CoolBlue, I always like local history and old buildings, yes if you can post a video of your one room school that would be nice.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Bill

  • @old64goat Sure, next time I go on a bike ride i'll bring my camera :-)

  • @ControlledExplosions Yes you never know what you may find in your travels.

  • Yep, Bill, I started school in one of those. All 8 grades and one teacher. She got her room and board in a students home as part of her pay. We had a wood shed attached to the school and a girls and a boys toilet attached to that. One time a little girl told us boys to lift the clean out door and we could watch her go to the bathroom. I think we got more education during recess than we got during class, LOL... ...Bill

  • @cariboubill Hi Bill, Yes you got your education out behind the barn, as Little Jimmy Dickens would say.

    Thanks for watching.

  • why is the flag at half mast?

  • @xle5363 I was wondering the same thing.

  • @xle5363 I found out later that Voluntown lost one of its own a 19 year old soldier seving in Afganistan, he got killed by a road side bomb.

He was only there one month when he got killed.

    So tragic.

  • Fantastic video! Shame you couldn't get in to video the inside.

    ~Cindy! :)

    ..

  • @CindyBradyTooh Hi Cindy, Yes it is but if they kept the building open the vandels would distroy it.

  • nice video..

  • @RAYGproductions Thanks Ray.

  • Bill you are a great producer!! This trip with you is a real treat. I remember that picture of G Washington in almost every room at my school. Thanks for sharing with us.

    Carolyn

  • @Ansalems Hi Carolyn, Yes we also had that picture in our class rooms though I went to a larger school.

    Oh the good old days.

    Thanks for taking the tour.

    Bill

  • We have one in my town, although it's not as large as this one. It was used for school until the early 1930s. Today it is privately owned and is used as an art studio. The owner thankfully keeps it in good condition.

  • @vwestlife I always liked it when they kept is as a school building, but at least they did not tear it down.

  • Bill,

I really enjoyed this video. I love our history. I wish more people cared enough to film our heritage. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Rich

  • @ncautoman57 Hi Rich, Thank You very much.

  • Bill,I sincerely appreciate all the time you take to do these videos for us,my parents went to one room schools.Next week if I can drive and walk better I'm going to my old elementary school and take a tour through it and take some pictures and videos.I hope I get to go because they are going to tear it down soon.I have some great memories there. They are also going to tear down my High school, times are sad,but they have to make room for progress, whatever that might be.Take care Bill-5*****jERRY

  • @jc6154 Hi Jerry, By all means please post that video, I would like to see it.

It is a shame that some people have no regard for history, they will most likely tear it down and make a vacant lot out of it.

    Shame.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you feel better.

    Bill

  • I really enjoyed this video. I guess the hole with the seat was for the rich kids lol.

  • @jefferyb304 Hi Jeff, YES I guess it was...LOL.
