Jesus Christ. I cannot believe this is still making the rounds on the net. It was over 5 years ago! I walked away from it fine. I had a splayed muscle bruise diagonally across my back and my left shoulder blade was too swollen for me to raise my arms for a few days, but I was okay. It just looks funny.
BTW: For those who care. It took place on November 3, 2001 at Excalibur Gymnastics in Virginia Beach, VA. It was my 3rd attempt at a Kovacs release. Never did master it. I was 18.
what's funny is that he squeezes so much that it doesn't hurt him nearly as much as it could. That probably got him bruised muscle, but he could have broken his back and got whiplash and then broken an arm or leg hitting the ground
You gotta hand it to him, that was a crazy save. Not to mention his balls of steel for even going for a DOUBLE KOVACS
@iHarmonicDissonance Not sure what a "double Kovacs" would be unless you mean quad salto release skill. It's a double salto though. And I probably had a better chance of breaking the bar (I was kind of a chubby gymnast) than my back.
I bet he landed it...:P
