People dont pay the majority of their taxes in one hit, i dont know how you figure that, they pay this tax at a rate of 10% on an item whenver they purchase it, spread evenly throughout the entire year.

Man Keating was an absolute legend. He had all the bases covered for a great PM; he ripped into the opposition in parliament with avengeance, he made the tough decisions for the good of the country, even if they were unpopular, and most importantly he was a humble statesman. He didn't like Hawke, but as seen here he did the honourable thing.
The reason why the liberals lost the 1993 election was b/c Hewson lacked any political knowledge. He had his economic vision but in politics there are different rules and tactics. Keating had tactics whilst Hewson didn't. Thats why finally Howard beat him in 1996
