Hello, not a religious person in either direction as I thought we came to this country so that each Christian may practice his conscience. That said, Generals Longstreet and Beauregard, two of the Souths best, were Catholics. Sorry but Catholics played huge role in the Confederacy. Ireland is not my country, Pennsylvania is. But their were entire regiments of Irish Catholics in the Southern Army too. The South is not homegenic, it is an idea - and one worth fighting for.

The politics of Ulster are for the people there to beside - not to be imposed upon them. I am certainly not a socialist, however, I have no problem with them governing themselves as they see fit. As a believer in self-determination and liberty I think that's the best position for us to take. On a cultural level though I think Ulster and Dixie share much in common and could certainly be close friends.

I haven't been to Northern Ireland yet, but I have lived in Germany and briefly in Ireland and England, besides visiting Scotland once. And I tell ya, buddy, by Euro standards maybe so, but for American standards, he is the most radical leftist president that we ever had. And hypocrisy aside he is a colored man. It is very unusual, including for European standards, as I do not recall an European colored prime minister, or king.
