  • Oh the joys of Youtube Haha. Sweet regardless. Picking up my camaro within the month or 2. Its probably going be a z but I like the gas mileage the v6 has if you like saving money. :) funny comments

  • @Noelleannie the v6 and v8 camaros' mpgs are nearly the same. my old 94 v6 (2:73 rear) auto got 19-20 mpg adverage. my current 93 Z28 auto gets 18-19 mpg (3:23 rear) adverage. both with mixed driving (mostly backroads). the v6 handled better (more nuetral handling due to lighter weight), but the z28 is faster and more responsive.

  • In a v6? sorry, you should have spent money on a v8. I don't have anything against a v6 but you might as well spend the money on a v8 because it has more potential.

  • does the cam add more power to the 3.4?

  • @mcstracer1992 The 3.8L v6 series 1 is a much better platform then the 2.8/3.1/3.4L v6 family. the 3.8L is a stronger block and flows far better. the 3.8L series II is junk with their plastic lower intake that will leak coolant into the combustion chamber and kill the engine before you realize its leaking. its a shame no one makes a metal lower intake for the series II. their faster and more efficent then the previous series 1 (but mated to only FWD).

  • Just throwing this out there but umm... why do u ppl get so angry cuz ppl put money into v6's? I thought modding cars was about how u do it not what u do it too.... If it's done right it shouldn't matter. Besides v6's aren't that bad, I'll beat a 5.0 automatic any day of the week, and I've stayed right at the bumper of an lt1 automatic. An besides, it could be worse, we could be driving hondas!

  • @quiksixx95 I agree. the origanal hot rodders used what they had or what they could make. back then there was no jeg's or summit. so i have no issue with someone building what they've got.

  • I find the best part about owning a v6 and modifying it is getting to piss off all the v8 owners who are so insecure about their own lives that they feel the need to come bash my car. its so satisfying and funny when i read comments like the ones here, knowing that you are here to try to make me feel bad because you are so unsatisfied in your lives that you have to stoop to calling people names on the internet.

  • Dude everytime I see v8 owners like these assholes get pissed over a v6 that has something modified on their car I think of you and a smile comes to my face. You took a motor that everyone thinks is crap and with some inginuity you added the grand am gt heads and intake and made a v6 that will make all those haters forced to give you recognition, and for that I thank you.

    I dont plan on doing the same to my motor, but I respect what effort you put forth to answer the question "what if?"

  • this means you can do the 3500 top swap also, correct?? Can you tune this easily with hp tuners or is it not OBDII?

  • @95PurpleHaze That's what I'm saying! My father owns a '94 Camaro with the 3.4 V-6. He want's to beef it up and many people don't think it's worth it. They always talking about swappin it over to a V-8. Even though I'm a V-8 person myself owning two V-8 motors, I wanted to see what I could do with that little "piece of shit" American V-6; and it's people like this that let me know it's possible.

    My father's 3.4 is running 310,000 miles and still going strong! FUCK THE HATERS!

Its easy to make a v8 pump out power, and you see it all the time, but for somebody to see the challenges to making a v6 have power and then putting in the effort, well, that just makes people like you scratching their heads in confusion. Its better to put forth the effort in a v6 rwd camaro or mustang than to have a ricer think his 4 banger fwd hatchback with a fart can and a cold air intake can beat anything on the road.

  • Nice. I still like the Melling MTC-5 cam. Idles great, nice power. Use it in the same 3.4, just in a Jeep and it goes well past 6500 with no problems at all. Gonna use it in my 3.2 for my Fiero

  • Sounds interesting, might have to look that one up. It's funny how many people don't do their homework on the car or the engine and just come here or other places and flame me for comments i put on here.  You would think that if someone has the intelligence to work on cars they would know what they are talking about.

  • because the camera is too close to the exhaust and the vibrations from the bass in the exhaust note are distoring the camera.

    i'll do up a better exhasut clip later. my car - believe it or not - sounds like a 305 while rowing through gears...

  • Just a V8 has a deeper sound. Thats all and mechanic like myself for 25 years can hear the difference between a 350, 302, 454, and a 262.

  • (its a M5). The cam is a comp cams custom grind. not too hefty, just a little over stock. im running a 10.5:1 A/F ratio which really makes it sound deep. hopefully i can work the bugs out of the system soon - a Megasquirt ECM is going into the car asap...

  • the 3.4L is a bored/stroked 2.8L - thats probably what hes referring to; hence the nice deep sound. The mic was a little too close and so its a bit buzzy.  the car actually sounds like a cammed Lt1 at idle, and driving sounds about the same - (going through the gears). I have been followed off the freeway and asked to race several times based on the exhaust note of the car at 70+mph in 5th gear.

  • m5 = 5 speed. the 60*v6 is a 2.8 block boared to 3.4 then w/ the 3400 upper its faster than the v8s of the same year .
