a) The SUV was really a taxi waiting in front of the hotel, playing music for the fursuiters and was bored waiting for a "call" to pick someone up (which he later did)
b) These were furries/fursuiters, so reaction to someone yelling "Get the fuck on the sidewalk" was mostly "lol", but with other types of crowds, the same action usually results into a riot (for example, the riots that happen when a pro sportsteam wins a championship game)

You know, I'd rather see a swearing staff member on Youtube, then a police officer, or worse a REAL reenactment of the furry CSI and someone plastered on the road in their fursuit because they were hit by a car.
There was a parked vehicle blocking that lane and nobody in that crowd had crossed the broken line; cars were honking in recognition. Was someone afraid that another vehicle might turn around the one that was parked and head for the hotel, crashing into the crowd? The driver would need to be pretty blind to miss a herd of giant animals crowding the street; such a person should not be allowed to drive in the first place!

While he didn't use the right words, Frosty acted with only the best of intentions for everyone involved. People had complained about the noise, were likely to call the cops, and on top of that there were safety concerns with the traffic, and CBS is right next door. (Their initial report was great, but it could easily turn sour with a follow-up report)

I was not there BUT given the video it was not the right choice of words. At least u didn't drop it during the day when there were kids & seeing the cars in the vid would have made anyone concerned. Different words could have been used, but otherwise.. give me a break. He very quickly diffused a situation that could have turned into something much more serious. Why the hell are people complaining over 'is cussing illegal in public'? Who cares? He did what he did to keep people safe, not just to be an asshole. Fursuit visibility sucks, plus it was dark. On dead dog night they were probably drunk and it could have quickly escalated to the start of a CSI episode.
Curious who the suiter was who stopped Frostyorca and looked at his badge, and visa versa from Frosty? It almost seemed the suitor escorted him away? But For me traffic makes me nervousness, cars don't like to stop, I know from experience! and plus you cannot see a car coming up behind you. There are many ways to look at this.
@SachiDK That would be me. I also started the whole thing by dancing in front of the van, not out on the road. It did get a bit out of control and looking at the video it was the right thing to at least get people on the side walk again. After Frosty dropped the F-bomb I went up to him asking who he was and told him this was way out of line. I then asked him to come inside so we could have a chat about this. It's a shame the whole thing escalated into this big mess.

The fandom doesn't really deserve a good reputation now because all the crap said about is true, not for all furries but enough for people to believe its all of them.
They are not breaking con rules, it's not the con staff's business. They were outside, sidewalk/street belongs to the city. If they're breaking laws, law enforcement will deal with them, and that'll be the suiter's problem. I understand the "I was just looking out for them", great! Then you say "could everyone please get back on the sidewalk and clear the street?". But the "I'm staff, wanna come back next year?" threat and cursing? No excuse there, ESPECIALLY when your staff.
But really, playing in traffic, in the dark? I've spent too much time cycling/motorbiking/hiking/driving to trust drivers at all, I did my suiting on the sidewalk. Furries are nuts, who knows what they would have been doing in five minutes.
x3 from me, a registration staff member, I'm shocked at the lack of professionalism as demonstrated in this video. This reflects poorly on the staff as a whole and from my experience the staff are the nicest people around.
To his credit, he's well intentioned. The execution is the big issue.
That's not fair. Every single person that I know on staff (myself included) put their heart into making this a great con for everyone. Frosty messed up and let frustration get the best of him, but he also diffused a situation that was beginning to get out of hand and could have made a mess for everyone.
When I worked at an amusement park back in high school, swearing AROUND a guest was instant termination. Did not matter why. Stubbing your toe and saying, "DAMN!", and you were up to the office for paperwork, and escorted off the property by security. I think Frosty had the right goal here. The fursuiters were doing something very hazardous to themselves and the drivers on the road. However, upon dropping the F-bomb, it's all over. Don't care why he did it. Done with staff, IMHO.
Don't ever go to Six Flags in Vallejo. I worked at that park and cussing was not only expected but everyone used it. People would yell at the guests, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!" like there was no other way to do it.

Yeah, that would sound about right. :P I... don't think I ever heard it that bad in my 5 years at SFGA. You heard ABOUT it, but you never saw the person who supposedly did it again. I did see someone whisked away for a particularly coarse bout of language at a guest, but it wasn't that bad. Course I could go down the list of things wrong with SFDK, particularly in their ride operations department. Rules broken we would NEVER have gotten away with out in Illinois.
Just because you're not being paid doesn't give you the excuse to:
1. Pull a 'respect my authoritah' line when you don't have it.
2. Threaten to ban someone from the convention when you don't have that power either
3. F-Bomb an attendee. Attendees are the only reason why one has a con to volunteer at.

I just don't think it's fair to say he should be kicked off staff. Being a volunteer, he clearly has no incentive to work for FC other than wanting to contribute to the community. I think it would be a horrible gesture to deny someone the ability to contribute to the community because they made a mistake.
Frosty has apologized so many times already. Shouting for his head on a pike is a horrible way to treat someone who slipped up and has done everything possible to make up for it.

Frosty has my support. While the swearing might have been a bit over zelous, yelling at people to get on the side walk was the right thing to do.
What he did was right, part of his duties to make sure the con is represented in a good light. To be honest, if I was a guest at the hotel non con wise, and there were people in the street creating a rukus there would have been complaints made.

@DanielJuno i am not a flair staff member. i was AV tech. i was acting out of concern for the safety of people in a street and for the fact that while con was over the group out there was still representing the fandome and the con. i acted out of line in how i said things, but my aim was to protect my fellow furries, not to piss everyone off.

I really do sympathize with Frosty. Used to do ride operator at an amusement park. Bringing a ride with a couple hundred people on it crashing to a halt because some asshat wants to go for a stroll in our ride area to find his hat... it's so fun. Explaining to everyone that they're going to have to wait 10-15 minutes for a reset because someone else misbehaved, even more fun.

To tell Nekomon, who was obviously making a joke about it, that if he wanted to come back next year to get the f*ck off the sidewalk (which he has no authority to do because he's AV staff)... IMO, he should be fired for representing FC staff like that. That is highly unprofessional.
There was no need for profane language, and staff shouldn't use it, yet the con was finished by that time and the suitor shouldn't have taunted the staffer.
The fault is on both parties; the suitor taunting the staffer and the staffer for not better controlling his mouth.
Dude's doing his job, but I think he could have gone a little easy on the language and personal approach. I would have just pulled him aside; no need for F-bombs.

I defend him on two points only:
1. He was trying to stop cute fuzzies from doing something that was very, very dangerous. If a suiter had gotten hit, the con would have been ... a very painful memory. His heart was in the right place, and fuzzies don't always listen well when on a fursuit high. (I know, I am one)
2. This tack of trying to destroy his entire life and gloating over it in exchange for an F-bomb is NOT appropriate.

a) The SUV was really a taxi waiting in front of the hotel, playing music for the fursuiters and was bored waiting for a "call" to pick someone up (which he later did)
b) These were furries/fursuiters, so reaction to someone yelling "Get the fuck on the sidewalk" was mostly "lol", but with other types of crowds, the same action usually results into a riot (for example, the riots that happen when a pro sportsteam wins a championship game)

There was a parked vehicle blocking that lane and nobody in that crowd had crossed the broken line; cars were honking in recognition. Was someone afraid that another vehicle might turn around the one that was parked and head for the hotel, crashing into the crowd? The driver would need to be pretty blind to miss a herd of giant animals crowding the street; such a person should not be allowed to drive in the first place!

While he didn't use the right words, Frosty acted with only the best of intentions for everyone involved. People had complained about the noise, were likely to call the cops, and on top of that there were safety concerns with the traffic, and CBS is right next door. (Their initial report was great, but it could easily turn sour with a follow-up report)
Please don't hate on someone who made a mistake while trying to help a community that he truly loves and cares about.

Different words could have been used, but otherwise.. give me a break. He very quickly diffused a situation that could have turned into something much more serious. Why the hell are people complaining over 'is cussing illegal in public'? Who cares? He did what he did to keep people safe, not just to be an asshole. Fursuit visibility sucks, plus it was dark. On dead dog night they were probably drunk and it could have quickly escalated to the start of a CSI episode.

Curious who the suiter was who stopped Frostyorca and looked at his badge, and visa versa from Frosty? It almost seemed the suitor escorted him away? But For me traffic makes me nervousness, cars don't like to stop, I know from experience! and plus you cannot see a car coming up behind you. There are many ways to look at this.

It did get a bit out of control and looking at the video it was the right thing to at least get people on the side walk again. After Frosty dropped the F-bomb I went up to him asking who he was and told him this was way out of line. I then asked him to come inside so we could have a chat about this. It's a shame the whole thing escalated into this big mess.

They are not breaking con rules, it's not the con staff's business. They were outside, sidewalk/street belongs to the city. If they're breaking laws, law enforcement will deal with them, and that'll be the suiter's problem. I understand the "I was just looking out for them", great! Then you say "could everyone please get back on the sidewalk and clear the street?". But the "I'm staff, wanna come back next year?" threat and cursing? No excuse there, ESPECIALLY when your staff.

When I worked at an amusement park back in high school, swearing AROUND a guest was instant termination. Did not matter why. Stubbing your toe and saying, "DAMN!", and you were up to the office for paperwork, and escorted off the property by security. I think Frosty had the right goal here. The fursuiters were doing something very hazardous to themselves and the drivers on the road. However, upon dropping the F-bomb, it's all over. Don't care why he did it. Done with staff, IMHO.

Don't ever go to Six Flags in Vallejo. I worked at that park and cussing was not only expected but everyone used it. People would yell at the guests, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!" like there was no other way to do it.

Yeah, that would sound about right. :P I... don't think I ever heard it that bad in my 5 years at SFGA. You heard ABOUT it, but you never saw the person who supposedly did it again. I did see someone whisked away for a particularly coarse bout of language at a guest, but it wasn't that bad. Course I could go down the list of things wrong with SFDK, particularly in their ride operations department. Rules broken we would NEVER have gotten away with out in Illinois.

Just because you're not being paid doesn't give you the excuse to:
1. Pull a 'respect my authoritah' line when you don't have it.
2. Threaten to ban someone from the convention when you don't have that power either
3. F-Bomb an attendee. Attendees are the only reason why one has a con to volunteer at.
His demand that fuzzies move onto the sidewalk was fine. Not a great choice of words, but got the action needed. His handling of the one remaining suit.. :P

I just don't think it's fair to say he should be kicked off staff. Being a volunteer, he clearly has no incentive to work for FC other than wanting to contribute to the community. I think it would be a horrible gesture to deny someone the ability to contribute to the community because they made a mistake.
Frosty has apologized so many times already. Shouting for his head on a pike is a horrible way to treat someone who slipped up and has done everything possible to make up for it.

Frosty has my support. While the swearing might have been a bit over zelous, yelling at people to get on the side walk was the right thing to do.
What he did was right, part of his duties to make sure the con is represented in a good light. To be honest, if I was a guest at the hotel non con wise, and there were people in the street creating a rukus there would have been complaints made.

@DanielJuno i am not a flair staff member. i was AV tech. i was acting out of concern for the safety of people in a street and for the fact that while con was over the group out there was still representing the fandome and the con. i acted out of line in how i said things, but my aim was to protect my fellow furries, not to piss everyone off.
all i can do now is say i'm sorry for the way i acted and hope that some will be able to understand what my intentions were and perhaps forgive me.

I've known ya for how long Frosty? Couple of years now? Granted I know what its like to make yer voice be heard. But know Nekomon was being playful and wouldn't do that intentionally to upset you.
Always remember that you may be staff hun but remember to handle things a little more professionally and things will be better in the end.

I really do sympathize with Frosty. Used to do ride operator at an amusement park. Bringing a ride with a couple hundred people on it crashing to a halt because some asshat wants to go for a stroll in our ride area to find his hat... it's so fun. Explaining to everyone that they're going to have to wait 10-15 minutes for a reset because someone else misbehaved, even more fun.
Herding cats raises blood pressure. It's just... clamping down on that desire to scream and curse, takes skill.

I was quite upset to hear Frosty say that, especially when the issue of "furries were heard using bad language all over the con" was discussed in the Hiss and Purr panel.
To tell Nekomon, who was obviously making a joke about it, that if he wanted to come back next year to get the f*ck off the sidewalk (which he has no authority to do because he's AV staff)... IMO, he should be fired for representing FC staff like that. That is highly unprofessional.

I defend him on two points only:
1. He was trying to stop cute fuzzies from doing something that was very, very dangerous. If a suiter had gotten hit, the con would have been ... a very painful memory. His heart was in the right place, and fuzzies don't always listen well when on a fursuit high. (I know, I am one)
2. This tack of trying to destroy his entire life and gloating over it in exchange for an F-bomb is NOT appropriate.
