  • Or you could save a pile of money and just buy a 50cc or 100 cc gas scooter. Those will climb any of those hills just fine, and they have the tires, brakes, and suspension to go with the power and speed. If you want to stay with a hybrid bike, the best thing for the motor, battery and your legs is just walk the bike up the very steep hills. By the time you get an effortless electric motor, you have put far too much money into something that a gas engine can do for a lot less money.

  • this project Sucks !

  • We offer a bike with chain drive, the motor and gearbox is integrated into the bottom bracket. This bike with a geared hub motor in the front and rear wheels would be an extreme hill climber. With our soon to be realeased high power geared motor, that setup with the two hubs running at 48V will beat anything up a hill except the Hanebrink.

  • All you need is a motor in the bottom bracket for multi-speed and you got one killer bike.

  • If you choose smaller motos you could 4 of them on this bike! Or maybe 8, or 16!

No im just kidding :-) but i think 1 crystalite 5304 would work better than 2 of these ;-)

    Nice bike! shiny :-)

  • I have a hill steeper than that so it simply won't do.

  • @jurassicpark1255

That old design might not but our newer, high power ones will.

  • @hightekbikes good to know! :P

  • Is this the bike from pee wee big adventure? XD

  • lol that looks funny

  • hat der Mountainbike gesagt? haha

  • That front proprietary motor looks a lot like the motor from the izip enlightened bikes

  • have you thought about wiring both motors to the same speed control or were there issues with that?

  • Most motors now are brushless and need a complicated controller that monitors the motor position with sensors. Knowing the position, it activates the coils in the correct order. Obviously, each motor thus needs it's own controller. You can use one throttle if the motors are the same or similar. You could use one controller with two brushed motors. They are still available but have fallen out of favor mostly because they are not as efficient.

  • It would have been a little difficult to operate a camera when using two throttles. The camera was operated by a lady friend, who I agree did a questionable job. I now have a video camera mounted to glasses to get the POV shots. This video is old, stay tuned for some new ones.

  • Kind of anti-climactic since the guy with the camera couldn't follow you properly. The next obvious question is why didn't you just bring the camera yourself?

  • that spiral wrap is ugggly

  • how long dose the battery last and how long dose it take to recharge? and how long into the ride will u start to notice power loss

  • saweeeeeet good job i built one with a recycled snowblower engine my next one will be electric.

  • What is the weight of that thing?

E-bikes are a nice way to remobilize elderly people or to animate people getting back on the bike to begin with.

SF offcourse is hell for cyclists i completely understand the notion of getting an e-bike.

  • With a Kelly motor controller you can have the two motors run off one controller. That looked fun! Way to promote bicycle riding in what is usually an unpleasant terrain.

  • This is an edited video. I pedaled the first time, on other runs I only had to pedal lightly at the top section which is 24% grade. The top speed of this bike was 18mph. We have refined this design and offer a few models for sale. See our website for more info. Any other questions, I can answer here.

  • That was incredible!

  • lol i diddnt know san fran streets had stairs? like LOL street stairs

  • they have excalators in streets of vegas for all the fat gets that eat too many burgers

  • What volt and watt are the motors you're using? brand? top speed? Im trying to source motors for my own folsom st climb...

  • wow weird frame on that bike, But very nice. I want a bike like that :)

  • what is the top speed of your bike?

  • i seen u peddling

  • the fittest person will only add 250w i doubt u will get up their with just pedaling
