  • 404 don't have hair! BUT CUTE SONG!

  • I got my daughters " I LOVE MY HAIR" shirts here for only $22 and includes shipping:

    search: Brown Sugar Collection

    on Facebook

  • I encourage all African-American women to read Hair Story: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America by Ayana D. Byrd and Lori L. Tharps. Black is beautiful, and our hair is beautiful. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

  • I love this song. Its so cute! I wish i heard this when I was younger!

  • This is a great song. I didnt like my hair when i was young.

  • Looove this!

  • I love this video! XD ♥

  • Love it

  • Fantastic video. I really needed something like this when I was a little girl and non-black people would tease me about my hair. Luckily, I grew up to eventually appreciate what I have. :) Sadly, a lot of black people, young and old, haven't yet.

  • Soo cuteee yayy encourage young girls to love their hair aww too cute.. Sad people have to make this cute video negative it

  • I loved this, when I have a child I'm going to make sure she watches this video.

  • lmfao...you know...I don't know how I feel about this...

  • I think the puppet is adorable! :)

  • i love this! wish i was this about my hair when i was her age, but now i luv it:)

  • i found the video! Sesame Street: Change The World

  • i love this puppet, she also has another song on S.S that sends a great message that you can be whatever you want to be! wat is her name!??

  • dang she change her hair bout as much as i do!!! lol

  • Q1

  • aaaw too cute love it :D

  • must be 399 bald people that don't like this video!

  • Lol, freaking LOVE THIS.

  • at 1:56 watch closley. then its 1:58 thats wut i see

  • 395 people love someone else's hair.

  • @Broadica LMBO sooooo true smh ;)

  • Little kids understand ethnic differences even before they reach elementary school. Since I was only four I knew my hair was different other girl's who went to my school. I saw that their hair was straight, shiny and really long. I saw my hair was puffy and kinky. This is a great video, and I'm glad they had a colored puppet do this. We black women can do so much with our natural hair, we just need patience and learn how to care for it!

  • This song swept over my soul

  • It doesn't matter what race or age you are! :).

I'm a 14 year old girl and I sing this song everyday! See how I didn't say what race I am? That's because it doesn't matter!

Enjoy this song and smile about it. :)

  • I WHIP MY HAIR at 1:19

  • @MissMiaLisette its funny you say that cuz the voice sounds a lot like willow smith lol

  • i really needed this growing up :( with type 4, kinky coily "nappy" hair, i finally got the satisfaction i always wanted as a child, watching this. a struggle so massive yet so over looked and under estimated by those not of color...

  • this video is tooooo cute!!! I love my haaaaiiiir toooo!!!! lol keep smiling everyone and dont sweat the small stuff!! its about time ethnic people had something encouraging for our children so they can love themselves and not encourage parents to keep relaxing their little girls hair all the time!!!!!

  • On the one hand, I think black women should wear their hair naturally, on the other hand, I don't think a puppet needs to explain that to children.

  • 394 people are bald

  • wow cute that was sooo sweet

  • If you have nothing nice to say don't say it Duh O_O p.s i love this so shush :P

  • her hair isn't even that nice ERGH. it's just hair everyone has it. ERGH. even monkeys. even barney. and fruit pastilles. GODDDDD.

  • @fruitpastillesRus "her hair isn't even that nice ERGH."

HAAAA Youre so pathetic that youre hating on a puppet!!! LMFAO

    You fuckin' FAIL

  • @0099396 dont be mean it is a great video ok it was sweet what he did for his daughter k

  • @0099396 You are are literally the biggest moron i've ever met. That comment is obviously not meant to be taken seriously, I mean, have you read it? Please never mention my username again, I don't want to be associated with such idiocy. And to @kailee13ful, nothing rude was meant. It's a good video, just idiots taking things too seriously on here.

  • @fruitpastillesRus << Speaking of idiots taking things too seriously on YOUTUBE smh

You knew what you said was dumb and and you feel like a moron for saying it. Thats why youre so offended now. So now youre trying to "hurt my feelings." If you werent, you wouldnt have dedicated not one, but two comments to my user name hahaha Grow up. (Youll probably reply back to this even more mad than you were initially talking about how everyone's stupid but you. Ignorance is so blind.)

  • @0099396 Firstly its you're*. Secondly, it was obviously a joke as it was followed by private jokes that you obviously wouldn't have got because you don't know us. What are you? A moron?

  • i love this

  • I have very curly hair and I am Italian/Caucasian...I wish this little Muppet was around when I was of the age to watch this show daily. It is terrible when you go to the salon and they want to straighten your hair after a cut. I HAVE CURLY HAIR. I wear it curly, I wore it curly into the salon so they could see that. Thank you little Muppet Girl.

  • Why is race being bought up in this conversation. You guys are so pathetic. Its sesame street for God's sake! Hair is hair so stfu already.

  • I loved this video! I give a lot of great hair and makeup tutorials on my channel.

  • um...this was WAY to awesome, like one of the most awesome things I've seen all year. Something to help little girls appreciate who they are, while the rest of the world is constantly attacking them and trying to push them to change and conform. I LOVE IT! At least Sesame street cares! Be yourself Babies!!

  • So thankful for this!! Everyone should be comfortable with the hair they were born with. It is BEAUTIFUL, no matter what anyone says!

  • I wish I saw this when I was little!! I hope more children see this <3

  • I got tearful when I watched this, I agree with Tazz LPN, If it changes one little girl's neg impression of her hair, its worth it, well done Sesame Street, A needed response to a social crisis

  • Thank you so much for this sesame street

  • Dana

  • This video makes me cry happy tears every time I see it! So beautiful!! In fact, I listen to this song whenever I feel down about my own hair-- and I'm 20! lol. Love love love Sesame Street for this!

  • i'm 19. I state every day how much I hate my hair.

I don't know if I will ever be able to say out loud "i love my hair"

but this video for a split second makes me think...maybe i do love my hair.

one day i will happily say that i love my hair.

  • <3 Sesame Street for making this.

  • This made me cry. Tears of joy, of course.

  • When someone is proud of being black, it doesn't mean that that person has anything against white people. It only means that person likes being herself.

Some people seem to bem afraid of a future when the patterns of beauty that media show us will have nothing to do with race or ethnicity. Why all that fear? Do those people really like to feel more beautiful than the others, only because of their race/ethnicity? Are they afraid to lose such "privilege"?

  • im like way to old 4 seasame street but i love this song it really made me smile because i have natural hair and most of my frends hav a perm or weave and they look nice but i also like my hair cuz it makes me different and im all about being individual and diverse also it makes me remeber how sometimes i wish i had straighter hair or if i rather be bald but i kno for me and others this is gonna help their self esteem - so kudos to you seaseme street

  • For the record if the puppet was a white no one would've said anything like "not to be racist..." or anything like that the song was meant to encourage little girls to love their hair why in the world are you bringing race into this it's just a video of child singing about her freakin' hair.

  • @FreakinToasterz25 Clap...clap....clap. Some people cant appreciate anything anyone tries to do.

  • @FreakinToasterz25 well some girls think that strait hair is better than their own hair and they are just saying love your hair if it is afro textured or naturally strait or wavy or curly

  • @FreakinToasterz25 because it is a matter of race African American woman are the highest consumers of hair products and are taught to believe that their natural hair is inferior by their own community but i do agree ppl should lay off its a cute song

  • @FreakinToasterz25 agreed...

  • @FreakinToasterz25 this song is clearly meant to encourage young girls of non-white backgrounds to be proud of their hair and to not listen to the possibly hurtful things other young girls may say about it. It's a song about embracing what makes you different and overcoming bullying.

I mean really, if the puppet was "a white" as you put it, I don't think they would have said she likes wearing it in an "afro". You can't make comparisons like that.

Yes, it's about race, but not negatively.

  • @cameronparker The story is that a writer of Seseme Street had an adopted daughter from Ethiopia who told him that she wanted her hair as straight and blond like the other girls' hair.

So he wrote this song for her to show her that she was beautiful.

  • @FreakinToasterz25 I would agree with you if it weren't for the media constantly telling little black girls that they should have straight hair. In this country white people set the standard (often a narrow standard) of what it means to be beautiful. I would love to live in a world where a video like this isn't about race and isn't novel for portraying black women as beautiful and valuable but we're just not there yet. Keep up the good work Sesame Street!!

  • I'm a latin girl, and even my hair is not afro-like, it's really thick, dark and kind of wavy-curly. I've hated my hair for a loooong time, even when I was 5 years old I knew my hair was differente, was "ugly". It tangled a lot and didn't look as nice as other girls' hair. So yeah, even when you're a child you're aware of your differences and what people consider ugly. I love this video. It's amazing for adults as it is for little girls and boys.

  • @MoonlightPlaylist Honestly my hair was relaxed when I was six. Little girls with straight hair know it's beautiful. You say it perfectly, tight, kinky hair is the minority. We're not pointing fingers, I just wish this was on Sesame Street for my generation.

  • My lil sista showed me dis I was like IM GETTIN DA GROVE IN DIS LOL

  • OK I'm 12 but I luv dis song

  • @CupOnkMaster11 if i had your face, i would shave it all off.

  • 2funny

  • yo lms if u wanna noe how it gro so fast

  • me 2

  • ok im 11 but I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • ok im 1 BUT I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • This is too cute, I wish Sesame street had her when I was little.

  • It's Willow Smith at 1:18

  • @MrWafflex7 lmao.

  • Not trying to be racist... but this is for us black girls... cuz alot of black girls are saying they want white girl hair.. thats why we wear weaves.

  • @LuVzHeRwOrLd lmao tough luck for you guys

  • Well, I can tell you that there was one black girl I talked to on Youtube, and I said I loved her hair, and I also told her that I'm white. I saw a video on Youtube of her Afro, and I said I loved it except for the part in the middle. She then told me that her hair was a different texture on top and that's why her Afro parted in the middle that way. I tried to talk to her some more, but she didn't respond. I was pretty much ignored. Was it something I said?

  • @luckyshiningstar101, yes like with most women it was something you said. She probably felt that you were being insensitive given that you don't know anything about her or her hair. What you didn't mean in a bad way she probably thought you meant in order to offend.

  • @FungSukLo yet "black ppl" dnt get lice, bugs in ur hair yet wanna call somebodys hair nasty, lol ppl now a days

  • Does Willow Smith sing this?

  • @C0C0LiSHiS Hell. No.

  • @C0C0LiSHiS Sorry. I hit the post button by mistake. A girl by the name of Chantylla 'Chauncey' Johnson sings the song. She's played Nala in The Lion King on Broadway. :)

  • You know what? I think she loves her hair.

  • I love my hair!!! i really, really love my hair & this video!!!

  • i was watching this with my four year old sister and the whole time she was asking 'can you do that one with my hair? no don't do that one instead' when she only has fine hair in a pixie cut.

    x

  • I love my hair.... Even the ones down there ;D

  • i really like this video. i think they need one for little black boys as well.

  • It's not that this video isn't great, it's that it's for little kids, yeah as adults we know that black women don't always accept their beautiful hair, but little girls, who don't have that kind of hair don't know about relaxers and weaves, so they don't understand the problem this video is addressing, so yeah it's gonna make them feeling upset about their hair,

  • @MoonlightPlaylist You completely missed the mark. You honestly believe little black girls don't know about the future struggles they may have with their hair? I'm sure their are little black girls that have seen the hair struggles of their mothers and have asked questions. It's a part of life. Nest time you go to Wal-mart, Target or any other retailer look in the African American hair section. WE get a small end-cap, that's it. Most products aren't geared towards our race.

  • @intellectualprinces I didn't mean little black girls, I mean little girls who don't have that hair, my cousin was using these products for long time but even though I was her cousin and saw her all the time I never knew, Kids aren't born with the cultural ideas we have, I really like this video please don't get me wrong,

  • I wonder how they did all those hairstyles on the puppet. Does the puppet have a wig or did they use more than one puppet?

  • I'm glad she loves her hair, I happen to have the very same type of hair.

My dad calls my natural hair kinky, nappy and ugly simply because his WHITE girlfriend has long red hair.

    Bah!

My hair is awesome, black hair is awesome, one day it can be straight, while the next it can be in it's incredible S curl pattern.

It's amazing, I'm glad my hair isn't limp and ick boring like most white folks.

  • @ESUTERURE lol, sounds almost like your dad is being racist and is teaching you too. I always thought it was similar to pubic hair, but if you like it better than icky white folks hair, great for you! At least your dad is around, anyway.

  • @zunk11 I'm not racist.

My sister called my hair pubic hair.

    That's not nice.

  • My lil baby need to see this!

  • Gdo

  • this is adorable, plain and simply cute

  • willow tryed to jack the muppet swag

  • THIS IS SO RACEIST

  • Why is everyone talking shit? This video was made for LITTLE black girls so they grow up loving themselves. So why are these 25 & 18 year old people talking shit? I'm here because my baby sisters love this and they should because it was made for them. Smh. Get a life!!

  • Fuck this

    Wrong song

Whats the pop song that goes like this: blah blah blah ma heh or something like that pls tell me I'll subscribe

  • Yoh. Can people relax? It's for those people who were told black or kinky hair is "bad hair". Whether you like it or not, this is the reality for most kinky-haired people and it's just an encouragement to embrace who you are and what you were born with. So nobody's saying that you shouldn't like your hair if it's straight or blonde because look around you, that's what's being portrayed as ideal anyway, so stop getting emotional and get over it. Your straight-haired baby sisters will live.

  • @TheBlackPumps Right, because little six year olds know about weaves and relaxers and read vouge.. no they don't! So they don't think, wow, its great they are addressing this issue, they think, wow why is her hair pretty and not mine, oh and ps:, pretty much ever other ethnicity of women have relatively straight hair, so don't start pointing fingers, gosh.

  • I love this song because I have super curly hair and I get crap because I don't fry my hair straight. Thanks sesame street!

  • is it me or her voice sounds like willow smith ? o.O

  • baby stuff, songs, hair that looked like a mop,and sesame street

  • Lol come on people! it's just a sesame street video about a girl that loves her hair.

  • Soo if Ur white don't tell us we need to love r hair cause yall don't love Ur hair either..so UNTIL MISS PIGGY MAKES A VIDEO SAYING FOR YALL TO LOVE UR HAIR DON'T TELL US BLACK GIRLS HOW TO FEEL IT'S NOT UR PLACE! are self hate wasn't caused by us!

  • When we were n Africa we luved ourselves! It wasn't until we came here excuse me (shipped) here we started to hate the way we look but it wasn't r fault being called big lip animAls.nappy headed wenches for years we started to feel self hate like it was our fault.so are grandparents called us nappy headed their grandparents called them samething a horrible sm mentally carried for generations! But! I came to this site looking I'm how to apply clip ons wher I seen nothin put white women tutorials.

  • And its not all kinky hair when have curly straight kinky all types with out being mix!!!

  • First off as a black girl I love my hair but jus because I'm black I half to love a fro and braids??? Um no I like my hair many different ways straight curly whatever I rock weaves but how come when white girls add in hair no1 tells them to love there hair?? Are when they rock braids no1 tells them they tryna be like us.as human beings we should b able wear are hair how we want to!!! Shoot and not all black ppl have same tex hair if u go Africa wher there's no mix race ul c different hair tex ha

  • ..Everyone, just shut the fuck up, stop acting so ignorant, and love yourself and those around you. Seriously. I just KNEW people were gonna hate as soon as I saw this video. Get a fucking grip.

  • I DO love my hair

  • Thank you!

  • I love this song! It took me a long time to love my hair. If this changes the way even one little girl thinks about herself, then it's worth all the ignorant a** comments some of these nut jobs have made. Kudos Sesame Street!

  • lol

  • This is so cute! Love it! A must see for my niece.

  • 365 ppl hit dislike if ur african American u don't love yourself n if u have a daughter smh at you!!!!!

  • @zunk11 go die in a hole

  • It's weird how her get longer and it looks like she goes to the beauty shop because she get corn rolls locks weve

  • Who is the voice of the little girl singing?

  • @RethaJ1 sounds like keekee palmer to me...

  • Comment removed

  • And then Beyoncé walks by.

  • @blottomulatto - LOL! Yes... but then we laugh at her cause her lace front is slipping and the glue is drooling down her temples. :-)

  • my litte sis love this lolo haha loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • This song is too cute

  • Does anyone know where I can download this song??? I loooove it!

  • Love it.

  • Omg I love my hair too! I actually have a sesame street tank top tht looks just like that character. She has a fro and it says "I <3 My Hair. haha Im wearing it right now!

  • @shazam15 Everyone has the same opportunities in life right now if you work for them, respect yourself, and stop blaming the man when you dont get success. I dislike when people play the race card as an excuse for being lazy. Im not saying that there NEVER is a time when people actually are refused things for their color, but I hate when people throw the accusation around when its not the case.

  • @shazam15

When the population of blacks starts to outnumber white, you still cant call yourself a minority because you get treated badly sometimes. Everyone of all colors, sizes and shapes get treated badly on a daily basis. Doesnt make you a minority, it makes other people jerks. We have latino and black people in positions of power all the way to the President.

  • I love this song, soooooo cute

  • My little white sister was watching this and asked me why her hair couldn't do any of that stuff.

  • @JosephMFaulkner I wish I could vote that up a million times

  • @JosephMFaulkner, because she was created in a way that in uniquely hers and uniquely beautiful as are girl's who have afro textured hair.

  • MissKekeBLUE, your right, if you are mixed with black, then yes you are part black too. That comment was meant for people who seem to think that thats all you are. I myself am mixed, but my primery gene is african. Life is hard enough without the identity crisis. I just wish women as a whole could see just how inportant they are as part of society. Too many women, black women especially suffer with not knowing their own worth. I wish that women could see that they are more than just skin!

  • here we go, seseme street gone ganster

  • @MsLarissalove gangster? how?

  • Love this!

  • dc

  • My apologizes to the people who are reading my rebuttals. This is not really the place for this kind of discussion but I couldn't help but reply. Ignore them and enjoy this awesome video!!!

Ladies, we can learn much from this muppet! Let's love ourself, shall we? :D

  • @Jmgirl I couldn't help reply either. Some ppl were being completely offending towards race and i thought they should know that. i didn't know my comment would offend you so much so my mistake. My point was that there are too many labels as far as race. I love this vid for the same reason as you.

  • @Jmgirl Why ignore them all? Some ppl are saying good things for example the person who said that this video is incredible. Also, some ppls arguments towards what other ppl r saying r good. Some ppl are saying unruly things on this video that wasn't mean for bickering and what they say should not be ignored bcuz it is not right (for example some of the racist comments). Just like u couldn't help but reply, others couldn't help but reply either. don't make it personal.

  • @MissKeKeBLUE It's ridiculous because it sends the WRONG message to kids. Beauty comes from the inside no matter what race you are. Most children are going to be ignorant of the hidden message here and thus think that this is really teaching to admire the wrong things. Whether it is hair, shoes, or whatever... it sends them down a path of vanity.
