arthur was a tool, allways had been....but you cant help but pitty the guy, and be happy he got to the reunion befor he died...REMEMBER killer kane long haird woman cut , i dont no how much he had to do with makeing that song , but the song is pretty f'n cool. the only thing he did post dolls that was cool . arthur pretty much was a tool.
buster poindexter was an alter ego type thing, he also wanted to not be associated with the new york dolls and their failure due to heroin and stupidity. david wanted to go to the next level and proved that you could party and do just that, but it the heroin jinx that killed the dolls, he did not want to be associated with that....jerry could hang, but johnny couldent. hey man the facts r the facts.....
@nimrod1957 Good God... I must have been at that same show ! My old stomping grounds... ( Raised in Rolling Meadows) Haymakers hosted some great artists.
Make sure you all watch til the very end. All the early 80's commercials will really take you back (totally LOL at the stereo test clip, complete with "call your cable company for a stereo hookup" announcement because TV's were still mono in 1982).
Watch the very first hour of MTV as well as 6 hours of Uncut MTV from this day ...Right Now !!!! Including this clip.....Come to my Channel and Check out my playlists!!!!
Just amazing. He stomps ass and inspires even now. And be sure to stick around for the commercials. Colecovision, Atari and Intellivision. Holy good God. The veritable triumvirate of early 1980's home video console heaven.
Saw this line up at Club Foot in Austin Tx. while they were touring in support of the "Live it UP" album, had drinks with the guitar player after the show...those were the daze!!!

Yeah! The guy with the bandana! I love that guy! He's just pouring his guts out! This was an excellent vid that would come on MTV in the early eighties. Waiting for the Van Halen concert vids to come on, this vid would be one of the better ones that would come on MTV while waiting! Awesome cover Johansen pulls off here.
@JohnFPorcaro that is SO funny! My sister and I used to talk nonstop about this guy while we were watching this video. It is great to know that other people were observing the same thing LOL.
Around 1:35 guitar player Huw Gower winks at David Johansen. I don't know why, but it cracks me up. The big biker dude with the bandana in the front RULES.
Thanks very much for posting this one, definitely an old time favorite of mine from MTV's early days. Anybody know if there was a video of Johansen's '82 hit "Funky But Chic"?
Does anyone know (for sure ... there is some misinformation on this) where this was filmed? It's not the actual MTV concert, is it? I ask because I think I'm in the video, but I've never been sure, and it's not like there's a closeup of my face. I think it was recorded at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco, and the guy who directed the video told me once he thought that might be the case.
This is a great performance and video; glad to see it back after so long. Don't mean to be negative but is this the best video quality available? I seem to remember it being a lot crisper. Still a great song.
Terrific video ! Great memories of MTV watching this again. This is the way it should always be. This is just a taste of what Heaven will be like. Great Mtv all over again !
The left-handed guitar player is NOT Chachi. Sure does look like him, though!

The guitar player giving the one-eye to David is Huw Gower, of The Records. He was with the band for 2 years and plays on 'Live It Up'.
