What i thinks is also cool to see in this vid is when you look better at the black hawk as the dude walks aroud it, you see (special?) air intakes and exhaust covers, does anyone know if these things are an "add-on" or does it come with this type of UH-60??

those are ibf's. basicly they are just big k&n filters that we put on the engines to try to keep the dust and dirt out of the engines. and they may look cool but they are a pain in the ass lol

lol..thats awsome. im a crewchief for a medivac unit and we had a birdstrike that left bone fragments imbeded in the nose of the helicopter for months. and no matter how much we scrubed and scrubed the impression in still there lol

One Helicopter out of sixteen was close to running out of fuel about 1.5 miles south of the polish airfield. THe UH-60A had to "PL" in a muddy dirty area. Still Pictures are amazing. We had to use water jugs as a portable fuel tank and made numerious trips flying back and forth to refuel the stranded aircraft.

Iraqi birds are idiots. Most birds dive to get away from the plane, Iraqi birds climb, right into the flight path. When I was over there in 91, a flock flew up, right into my path. I hit 3 birds, one of them went about 1 foot further left than this one, taking out the whole chin bubble and filling the cockpit with feathers and a god awful stench.

Once the M-240D was fielded in Iraq to all Aviation Helo's requiring a door gunner (UH-60/CH-47) June 2005 there was no need to attach/install a brass bag and/or a deflector to the LEFT SIDE M-60D Machine Gun. I loved that new gun. Amazing best item the U.S. Army ever purchased....

The bags are to stop the brass falling into something people find useful ... engines or suchlike. If you'd feel safe in a copter with casings and links flying all over the place whilst the engines are operating good luck and godspeed!

140 knotts, impact broke loose some of the paint from the honecomb nose door. Are unit over a 12 month period had over 20 bird strikes, causing damage in the hundreads of thousands.
