  • i love this piece!!

  • She's screwing up his performace. He's playing beautifully, and she's making too many mistakes for a performace. Did she evern PRACTICE? Or, is she a substitute for the REAL accompanist? Or, is she just NERVOUS? Or is she just jealous of him and is screwing up his performace for SPITE? If this is too difficult for her, then she shouldn't have been chosen to play something over her head because she sux, and she's making the lead pianist look bad as well.

  • Loved this! I've never heard the arrangement performed by piano before. I liked when the girl messed up she smiled and kept going strong - an extremely challenging piece and you both did amazing.

  • Great playing. Don't worry about the few minir slips. We all do that. Overall fantastic. Next time arrange for a better sound recording to do justice to the fine playing and hard work!

  • Cheers! Thanks!

  • What's the difference between a sewing machine and a Japanese Pianist? The Pianist might be faster but the sewing machine shows more feelings for the music...

(My opinion- but a little more emotion isn't too much)

  • I'm sorry for my comment (I chose the wrong tab = wrong clip), so I wanted to write this to another video.

  • ...well, so I should be glad I'm not Japanese...?

...actually, I don't know why you say that...(at least) some young generation of Japanese pianists have truly wonderful artistic minds. Chinese pianists who study in China, however...

Now they are indeed as you described. But it is no wonder really - these Chinese grew up learning nothing but Chopin Etudes! No wonder that's all they can do well...

  • You should see a German trying traditional Shamisen pieces, must be the same horror : ) Just different cultures

  • They are both playing very well indeed. He IS putting some emotion - too much emotion is not to be displayed when playing classic period music. This is the correct historical context.

  • Please consider the poor sound quality of you tube uploads people! There is NOTHING wrong with the Kawai RX6! It is a awesome grand piano! I am a pianist and teacher having played for some 40 years and I prefer the RX6 to the Steinway period! The Steinway action feels "woody" and hard. The Kawai Millennium 3 action feels WONDERFUL to play. The tone of the two pianos (both 7ft grands) is to my liking, however the Kawai is WARMER and more sonorous. Go try out the RX6 - it is awesome!

  • ...I own a 2007 RX-3 myself, and I do like it very much indeed for its warm sound. This RX-6, however, is much older than that (so no millenium III action) and has been thoroughly worn out/bashed by countless students without being given due care - i.e never voiced/regulated.

As regards Steinways, I like them very much - when they are in pristine condition. I have played on as many beautiful, wonderful Steinways as I have terrible (and I mean seriously crap) ones. They're all different anyway

  • I have a brand new RX6 and it does have the Millenium 3 action. I am not sure of the age of the one in the video, but the sound quality is awful - pit a better quality vidoe camera was not used. The RX6 is an awesome piano with a huge bass! My tech told me it is better than the equivelent 7 ft long Steinway! I tried out the SW and mine is better! Esp the M3 action - its wonderful!!!

  • @miykeey off brand piece of shite, you need your ears checked

  • Funny "tiny-grand" piano. =)

  • Hehe perhaps fortunately they aren't my pianos...

  • now do it on a steinway and fall in love!

  • oh, I'd rather not...because if I do, I can't afford one...haha!

actually yes, I'll be doing this again sometime throughout this year on a Steinway, and with an orchestra! I'm quite looking forward to that!

  • Wow! This guy is a genius....

  • Well, Beethoven indeed was! This guy would be happy if he's even worthy to be considered Beethoven's 'pawn' ^^

  • I heard little mistakes at the begging from the lady but still, very good. I'm 15 years old and im practicing emeperor too.

  • This lady did a fantastic job for such a last-minute engagement - so grateful to her! And that's great - this is a fantastic piece kid! Love it!

  • o very nice, piano duet is the happiest thing in the world, i wish i could play tht with my darling

  • ...I think chamber music is even more fantastic! =D

  • Well Done! my favorite concert!

  • Thanks for listening ^^

  • Molto BRAVI !! cannot stop listening.

  • ...grazie ^^

  • Phenomenal!!!

  • Thanks for listening! ^^

  • Hah Beethoven's legendary 5th concerto

One of his best pieces <3

  • I agree! Lots of people may be playing it, but you simply can't have enough of it!

  • Excellent! I love this piece. You played very well too. What Grade are you now?

  • Thanks! I never did grades =)

  • excellent job!

  • Thank you!

  • It is so wonderful to see young people making great music. Maybe the world is not yet totally mad.

  • ...as long as we have Beethoven (or his music), I hope there's still hope...haha

  • The girl is beautiful,wow.

I hope she could accompany emperor for me,oneday, too.

  • lol...

...oh no, is she that visible? =( she didn't want to be part of the video because she wasn't dressed up (she didn't know it'd be video recorded as well)

  • MAGNIFICENT!!!! BRAVO!!!

I'm giving a standing ovation in my pyjamas!

  • ...thanks ^^

  • This is my favourite concert and Beethoven is my favourite composer; Congratulations for yr performance!!! I'm a portuguese woman who enjoys this kind of music

  • Beethoven is also absolutely one of my favourite composers - very passionate music!

  • That was AMAZING

    BRAVO

    BRAVO

    BRAVO!!!!

  • Thank you for listening!

  • She's messing up your performance. ;)

    Just a little.

You sound so profession. You should be playing with an orchestra. I guess you're just practicing with her first before you play with an orchestra.

I'm also working on this, but you're a heck of a lot better than I am. lol I will post it when I have some done.

    You're awesome, dude!

  • Hahaha in hindsight, she's a brilliant sight-reader!

Thanks for listening! I look forward to hearing yours ^^

  • prongated, she's SIGHTreading? If she never saw the music, then she's a GENIUS! And I deeply apologize to her. She's AWESOME! And so are you.

    (:

  • LOVED IT! Thank you very much!

  • ...you're welcome! Thank you for listening!

  • Awesome =D

    The piece inherently is miraculous

    I love it <3

  • Yay! Beethoven is an absolutely brilliant composer.

  • You did a GREAT job on this! Not an easy piece.

Your back-up needs a little more practice ;D

but the lead pianist is awesome!

    ^L^

  • Hahaha thanks!

...you see, the orchestral pianist was given about 2 weeks notice to do the whole concerto. She also had a concert in the morning of the recording session and preparing for a few upcoming ones as well - I thought she did quite an amazing job!

  • Wow, impressive. I am working on this with my friend, but we don't sound this good.

I would also like to hear the 2nd movement of this if you have it available.

  • Thanks! It's a great work, and I trust you are doing great and enjoying it with your friend ^^

  • Why??? Why Rondo Allegro~~~~~

I'm not saying that you did not do a wonderful job, which you did. It's just that I've heard some many people playing this piece in rondo allegro, such as Arrau. Actually I prefer the piece played by Sylvia Capova. I wonder if you have listened to it before?

  • Hi...thanks for putting up with my playing here ^^

No I haven't heard Capova's...I've heard some of her Chopin, which wasn't bad I think.

I guess there are many different ways of playing it hey...there's those that like the classical (Kempff, Weissenberg - my personal preference), the romantic (Gilels, Richter), and the um, eccentric? (Melvyn Tan...?)

  • Passionate, skillfully played, and exactly what I expect to hear from the third movement. However, I would really like to hear you play the 2nd movement, which I think is the most difficult of all.

  • Yay ^^ thank you!

The second movement is here; pianostreetDOTcom/smf/indexDOTphp/topic,24050DOTmsg289063DOThtml

  • Ahhhh, now this concerto I very much love. Hope you play this with the orchestra and post it on youtube if you get the chance. 5/5 for this^o^.

  • Haha thanks!

  • i like it. Better than i could ever do.

  • ...really? Thanks! And I'm sure urs isn't bad :)

  • Ooh cool. Love this song. =D

  • Ah...Beethoven lives on ^^

  • Awesome!!

  • Thanks!!

  • Well executed, pleasant to listen to

  • Really? Glad to hear that! Thanks :)

  • Very nice. I like the duo-piano arrangement.

  • Thanks :)
