@mediattackrecords Alan Vega wasn't the most technically gifted singer if I remember correctly. Also, I see alot of the Cramps and Zappa in their take on music. They did play with Kid Congo on the some "Blue is Beautiful" sessions.
70's street fashion bands are in. It almost seemed liked Progressive Rock Postmodernism was going to completely come back to begin but then it goes into a 70's funky, Proto Punk, raunchy sound. Nice. I just saw the Dionysians. Good stuff. This Pop meets R and B composition is brilliant.
@zeller291 This is my other account. Either way, I'd never listen to Dave Mathews. I listen to things like Captain Beefheart, Tom Waits, Drive Like Jehu, Coaltar of The Deepers, Slowdive, Bohren Und Der Club of Gore, At The Drive-In, Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen, Jandek, Devo, The Smiths, Sleeping People, Slint, Drudkh, Pelican, The Misfits, Bad Religion, any music from just about any genre. I do have 80,000 Cds...none of them Dave Mathews...but some are Sun Ra, Miles Davis, and Dave Brubeck.
@zeller291 - I have a Spiderland poster that came in the vinyl. I live in Indiana and they are from Kentucky about 45 minutes short of me. I just wanted to set the record straight about my hatred for Dave Mathews, haha. Not much worse you could be said to like....maybe Nickleback or some such non-sense.
One of my FAVORITE live bands ever. Saw them 3-4 times -- at Smith College, at Hampshire College, at Georgia Tech and one other time. Looooooove them. And I love James Brown so it all makes sense.
@bebowilliams I was going to respond, "Well the bass part isn't really that skilled," but then I looked at the video and realized... oh, you said that because she's a girl. haha
Ending that with "you Americans" is just retarded. you show your total ignorance when you lump all Americans together in one category because of a fucking opinion on music. What country are you from and why have they allowed you access to a computer to tarnish their reputation. buy your dad a condom so this doesn't happen again

well dipstick, you are truly special, with your corrupted government, media, music, banking system, eduction system, health care system, hell, every system you've created has been corrupted!!!!! Real nice citizens you got there... everyone in th world is applauding your decline for a reason, EVEN IF YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE IT!!!
you are in decline as well. don't fool yourself friend. your media is just a different blend of propaganda, and from the sounds of your attitude, it fools you into believing your country is just fine in comparison. the sad thing is, i don't know where you are from, because it is ubiquitous. many americans are willfully ignorant, and it's because they can't believe that their government is corrupt, and others are ignorant because they focus on others' corruption. this is a global collapse.
Just a reminder that shit music ALWAYS existed, it's just that old farts refuse to believe that stuff from their generation is nearly as bad. Damn you nostalgic, disillusioned turds!
i think that's an oversimplification. it's more helpful to look at the way the mass culture treats music, especially in the form of monolithic record companies that shape popular music and wield distribution like a crude, grotesque baton, producing absolute shit.
take a look at music during the mid-to-late 90's in the united states. there was some good music (much of which went unnoticed) but relative to the amount of shit that was spewed out and distributed, it was a very bad period.
what sucks is the record stores in atlanta refuse to carry their records...story goes is they came to town and went around and stole all of their own LP's and got banned
creepy cool

This live video doesn't sound anywhere as great as the song on the cd. I think it's the only good song on the cd. Probably by the band in general.
