@bidwellcoach Clapton's also an elderly British gentleman. Joe's trying to make a name for himself. When Clapton was Joe's age, people were already calling him "Jesus" and "God".
@pini16893 Funny. Joe's face is more like "Damnit now I have to one up that." Tyler Bryant is pretty damn good. I've played with him myself. He's great.
I was waiting for Robert Plant and Jimmy Page to Jump In and start "Since I been Loving You". Have a Listen to the live version and you will find similarities.
@stairway2000 Everyone's got their opinion. Claiming your allegiance to the greats doesn't automatically grant you a superior voice. They were great in their time but they'll be the first to tell you that they were only revolutionary and guys like Bonamassa carry on the torch to greater things. No one, not even the greats, touches me like Bonamassa and that's all that matters. 95% of your attachment to them is likely emotional insistence. You're naturally attached to what you first experienced.
@Fishies125 you're funny. i claim allegiance to no man! i listened to the newer artists before i started to go back. and i find that the further you go back the more passionate the music becomes. in my opinion bonamassa's style has no soul and it's like alll he cares about is showing off his ability rather than just making good music. i'm not saying that's what he thinks but that's what it feels like when i hear his music. you can be the most tallented musician and still make shit.
the first time i saw hendrix playing the intro of killing floor in monterrey i was shocked... sumlin wrote that. i picked a guitar in consequence thanx to him. rest in peace mr sumlin
To slashcool20: It's a slow version of Lowell Fulson's "Reconsider, Baby".
Hubert schooled 'em all with his easy playing and wicked bends. Simpler rig, too, instead of those Marshall stacks. I'm gonna miss him, but what a cat !
I'm guessing Tyler Brant is the guy with the strat. His playing shows his youth. Still a great player but he has the same problem as Davey Knowles. Likes to get ahead of himself. Hopefully one day both these great players will learn some restraint. Tension and resolution are key in the blues. Bonamassa and Vivino know that.
i don´t know his age, but in this clip, his solo was the best in my opinion.... over joe. and obviously i know joe is far superior. but in this clip, tyler´s solo went over all the others

i am a joe fan, but he is not a blues titan... asthey always write..... a guitar titan maybe. Blues titan.... the man witha hat and a les paul special.... sumlin IS a blues titan
@hungerstriker27-Ohh, pleeze...JB isn't a "blues titan"..really. I and a whole bunch of others that PLAY blues, would disagree. He is BOTH a great blues guitar player, and a rock guitar player,....and a great hard rock guitar player. If he wanted to be...he has the talent and chops to be a world class Jazz guitarist.....
reconsider baby.... is from joe. And speaking of sumlin.... this is the man who was the right hand of howlin wolf. who compossed th riff of killing floor, smokestack lightning.... those whoinspired the rolling stones and the beatles to pick a guitar. The man is a legend and certainly is not trying to impress joe or anyone else.... maybe bb king
I think there are 2 kind of players. Both types are good The claton/Bonammasa type: their style is impecable, perfect poition of every note, they play, but they are planning the next move... and the hendrix/ SRV style.... less technycal.. they don´t plan every single note, and the do their solos improvising and following the mood of the moment. The kid for example is like this second type. I think is matter of taste. Both types are great. Hendrix maybe could combine every single style
yes he did... great solo.... the best part was that beggining that suddenly pass fron the 5 to the 1 position.... I think it was the best of that three solos, by far... and I think he is a big promise just kike joe was in his time...
when I first saw this, before the solo, I tought....well, maybe is some jind of new jonas brother, now in blues, after the solo I did some research and he is very good. He has a song named the habit or something... the music is amazing
ok, obviously the best player here is joe.... but I have to say... from the 3 solos that start with hubert sumlin (He is a legend and he has nothing to proove) I think the kid played the most interesting solo.... and come o... he has a great tone too... give him a break... I think he doesnt have 20 years and he is sharing the stage with joe and sumlin
@MrAmitGendelman Hes just a boy, give him time to mature and he will become a legend. Don't forget he was playing with the best of the best of the blues preachers.
sumlin is a legend and he doesnt need to prove nothing to anybody. But the other guys are good, and despite you can see how they are making his greatest effort, joe doesn´t even try so hard to crashed them both.
@hungerstriker27 Well said. Not to say anything against any player - but that's what made Peter Green for instance, the guitar-man to 'make BB King nervous'. It's what that guitar says when it speaks, not just that it can talk fast like an auctioneer, be played with teeth or behind the head (though teeth behind the head would be interesting ;>), but that it expresses something.
Someone can play chirpy excited guit, but if the singer just sang "I feel so down", then that just ain't right!
I agree man. Search the bb king blues solo winner in the king of blues 2001. It´s not hard to learn. But that feeling..... it´s incredible. Just BB King.
I love both my les paul and my strat. Even if it´s pink. But in the aspect of look, nothing compares to a flame maple top les paul. What a beautiful guitar.
I noticed that Joe's rhythm pickup is in backward to put his guitar's mix out of phase (it cancels the guitar's low-end when both pickups are used). Either the man knows what he likes mor his guitar tech is incompetent- not sure which. It's an odd thing to do, but very cool if it's intentional.
@guitartec Correction, the pickup flip doesn't change the phasing, you have to go into the pickup and flip the magnet. The flipped pickup does the same thing the mismatched knobs does, makes it look more like the Greeny Burst.
@quebecgold80 No its not the exact guitar its just a 59 reissue that Joe's tech made to be like the Peter Greens Les Paul. Joe talks about it in one of his rig walkthroughs on Youtube
@bluesmaster94 bluesmaster. ya, keep listening to joe--youll be a master. blaghagahahahah!! A guitar God, sir, is Danny Gatton, Charlie Christian, Peter Green. joe, is a riff machine. History will have no place for him, or you; a turd, who cleans his mothers poop trolley with his guitar string stubs. keep rocking that strat bluesmaster--i know you got one.

@hungerstriker27
Couldn't care less about that. Really.

So Joe is playing a Peter Green set-up guitar, and Jimmy is playing the Mike Bloomfield sig. Silly.

I noticed that Joe's rhythm pickup is in backward to put his guitar's mix out of phase (it cancels the guitar's low-end when both pickups are used). Either the man knows what he likes mor his guitar tech is incompetent- not sure which. It's an odd thing to do, but very cool if it's intentional.
guitartec 8 months ago
@guitartec Correction, the pickup flip doesn't change the phasing, you have to go into the pickup and flip the magnet. The flipped pickup does the same thing the mismatched knobs does, makes it look more like the Greeny Burst.
NathanBellSax 8 months ago
@NathanBellSax Oh, I figured he flipped the polarity. Guess I should have listened to the video. huh?
We've been experimenting lately with flipping magnets in pups in our shop.

quebecgold80 8 months ago
@quebecgold80 No its not the exact guitar its just a 59 reissue that Joe's tech made to be like the Peter Greens Les Paul. Joe talks about it in one of his rig walkthroughs on Youtube
