Is it recommended to use only one form of treatment, for the last 2 months ive had mild acne on my forehead, and my doctor recommended to use a 5% BP cream, and ive seen good results. But i also like using my daily salicylic cleanser becuase it leaves me face looking more fresh and smoother. So can i use multiple treatments ??? and if yes how would i go about using it ??? because my BP treatment i only use on my affected area, forehead which is pretty much near too clear.

I want to include glycolic acid in my regimen but im confused about if it can also be used on ingrown hair? The one i chose is a serum called "Olay Regenerist resurfacing night elixir". Im also using the sensitive skin cleanser and the Complete ageless SPF 20 lotion in the day. Im 19 i dont have acne but slight discoloration from medication. Is this a good regimen?

Any major break-outs after using any acid = acne that were under the skin not yet visible. Must get rid of them in the first place.

Please help!! I think i am allergic to salicylic acid. I have recently tryed many products containing salicylic to clear up my acne. Every I used these products i broke out. I dont thinks its anything else in the product. Any suggestions of acne products i could use that might help? Also do you know y this is happening when i use salicylic acid products??

I had a 50 micron Micro Laser Peel done about 6 weeks ago. The peel left some hyperpigmation and one small spot of hypopigmentation. The nurse that performed the procedure instructed me to begin a salicylic acid peel treatment with them to correct the hyper/hypopigmentation and to clear up my skin further. I had one 30% salicylic acid peel done earlier today. My question is, should I continue or look for a new PS? I feel the need to get a second opinion, but for all I know this is normal.

Replying to update:

All cleared up and looking much better. The light peels made a big difference in correcting what the deep laser peel did, but all-in-all, I'm pleased with the results. I'm no longer going to the PS to have the peels done as I do them myself now. These are light peels, 20% SA (very light "peeling", but fantastic results) and will be moving on to 35%/50% GA soon. The only thing left to do is buy a thank you card+gift for the nurse, and continue treating myself.

Should the percentage of glycolic acid be used gradually? After reading positive reviews I purchased MD Forte III cleanser (20% GA) but stopped using it after about 1.5 weeks because it was irritating the large pimples I already had and causing many new small ones. I dont consider myself as having sensitive skin because I've used high percentages of Benzoyl Peroxide for years np, although I do get postacne hyperpigmentation marks spots VERY easily. I have never used GA on my skin prior to this.

I have tried using St. Ives green tea cleanser with salicylic 2.0%, It went good for 2 weeks, but after that I started having a major breakout... why?

@meteorspeed I'm not sure that your breakout is necessarily related to the new cleanser. Obviously, after this breakout resolves, try a different cleanser. If you're really curious, try your St. Ives on one side of your face and a new, different cleanser on the other side to see if St. Ives breaks you out again. If it does, avoid the ingredients in the St. Ives cleanser in your next cleanser.

Uhh, I had a mild peel using salicylic acid, and 2 spots I accidentally scratched and they peeled and left a darker mark, they're fading over time...but will they completely fade :O

@lQueenBl Glycolic Acie is one of several different alpha hydroxy acids. Others include lactic acid and pyruvic acid.

@1969LAGIRL They said we can't mention brands...but think about that infomercial with all the movie stars. It comes in 3 steps and the green toner is glycolic acid. I love my glycolic acid....it must be gentle enough to do the job and it smells like flowers. I just noticed you posted this a years ago....so you probably already know what I'm talking about. Some glycolic acids at Ulta and Sephora are super expensive. I think Jessica Simpson was used to be on the infomercial.

I thought benzoyl peroxide worked better than salicylic acid at cleaning the skin. O___o

@donutmaster: Benzoyl peroxide is actually an antibiotic as well as a keratolytic used to treat acne and acne prone skin. It works differently than salicylic and glycolic acids that work by cleaning off dead skin cells. While benzoyl peroxide is sometimes put into cleansers for it's anti acne effect, it is not a cleanser or cleansing ingredient.
