How the hell are people saying this is lipped? It's so obviously live. There are small subtleties in the ways she sings the song differently.... coarseness in her voice at times.... You can hear during We Belong Together, she was a little rough. She got warmed up and unleashed her vocal fury (perfection) in "Fly Like A Bird" though.... DAMN. Just perfect.

I don't mind that Mariah lip synced parts of this, but some lambs are pathetic. Calling someone autistic because they can see that she is lipping parts here? Actually, maybe they are autistic because autistic people can be extremely smart, something which a lot of lambs lack. I LOVE Mariah, but the lambs make me watch her performances on youtube less than other artist I watch because I can't stand the delusion of some of them.

The last chorus to WBT is lipped apart from the final WE BELONG TOGETHER which this time she sang live (Notice the strain in her voice at this part after singing the rest of the last chorus perfectly) and a lot of the climax of FLAB is lipped with parts (such as the parts you mentioned) live. But from 3:28-3:53 is lipped and she sings live with "tonight... tonight... tonight..." and most of the rest is lipped too :)
@rossgardiner I dont think so... especially given the fact that during this time she was still singing songs like Vision of Love (2005) and KILLING it... look for the blueprint bet 2005 performance... She had the vocals for it. And why wouldnt she just do a lipped "we belong together" at the very end instead of switching back and forth? You're right, it was strained, which is why we know it was live... It makes no sense to do a few second parts live and then do 2-3 seconds lipped... etc.

I am not trying to do the whole "Mariah can't sing" because she obviously can. I love her and her music but she lips a lot and I don't really mind but it gets annoying when lambs are saying things are 100% live when they're not. But it's okay because Mariah is a great singer and songwriter! :)

He layers audio from 3 different perfomances of this song (including grammys) and some parts of FLAB sound IDENTICAL. In that video when you can hear 3 different voices (such as after lipping "please don't you let the world the world the world.." she sings "break me tonight" live and you can hear different voices. still AWESOME performance though! :D Love her.

Anyone saying she is lip syching needs to seriously get their ears AND eyes checked. First of all, this is the greatest female singer of all time and secondly, the grammy's have a rule against lip synching. This performance by the one and only Mariah Carey is one of the greatest of all time!! The grammy's were are still WHACK by not giving Mariah the best female vocal performance for this album and even for best album. MC should have at least 10 grammy's instead of just 5. PERIOD.

Staring at someones face expressions & mannerism is not a scientific way to conclude singing is live. MANY ppl thought (& still do think) Whitney's rendition of the nationl anthem was live. Which she has said was lipsynced. Not all lipsyncing is pop-princess-obvious. JEEZ. But, Regardless Mariah is amazing. Get a clue
@KyleRockafella It's actually quite obvious when Mariah lip-synchs. Her tell is that she tries to act cute -- when she sings live, she gets into it, primarily the hands movements go crazy. You can hear the strain in that ending C5 of WBT and furthermore, you can clearly see the movement of her larynx all throughout the upper-chest/head voice section of FLAB.

Nothing but perfect. Her voice is flawless, and there isn't to much female artiest with a voice like that. She has a talent like no other. It's a gift. No one can pull of high and low notes like this woman does. She's outstanding. And SUCH a great performer.

I'll get loads of hate for this, but I think the final chorus of We Belong Together (excluding the note) is pre recorded. It sounds exactly the same as her MTV Movie Award performance. If there's one thing about her genuinely live performances of We Belong Together, it's that they all sound different but this is just uncanny to the MTV performance.

All artists use their own equipment and their on sound techs. Usually even the camera distances and angles are pre plotted by the artist or their management. @MariahCareyDotCom Sometimes artists that are the GENUINE ARTICLE, like Mariah Carey sing live and can produce what they do in the studio live as well, there is scrutiny if it's being lip-sycnhed or not because she's a part of the elite singer-songwriters that have actually talent, and because there is such a small group that possesses it, novice listeners or people who simply DON'T KNOW SHIT can't tell what's real or fake. :-)

Anyone saying she is lip syching needs to seriously get their ears AND eyes checked. First of all, this is the greatest female singer of all time and secondly, the grammy's have a rule against lip synching. This performance by the one and only Mariah Carey is one of the greatest of all time!! The grammy's were are still WHACK by not giving Mariah the best female vocal performance for this album and even for best album. MC should have at least 10 grammy's instead of just 5. PERIOD.

Plus, you can hear the occasional raspiness of her voice, which is an indication this is live, and not lipped... Get over it y'all, this was live, and it was good. Mariah, you go girl!!!

@MonkeysRule6211 the transistion is from head head voice to full chest voice. which both sound VERY distinctive thats why. the body and hand movements clearly show. also 1.33 she takes a gasp of air. so it is live.

Regarding that "transition" at 1:33, you're right, the hand movements and breath in take show she's singing live, but the thing you haven't noticed is this: Her mic is turned off.
You see it in Fly Like a Bird, she lips "please don't you let the world, the world, the world" and then her mic comes on too late for "break me tonight~~~".

@MariahCareyDotCom I used to lip sync EVERYDAY. And my throat, expressions and hand movements ALL matched the recorded vocal. If you are gonna lip something you should be a GOOD actor. Which isn't difficult if you can actually sing. Not everyone lips like Britney Spears (badly) AND LIP SYNCING MEANS...singing to a recorded track. It doesn't mean popping in a CD release and moving your lips. I hate when ppl say "It sounds nothing like the CD, it has to be live" It doesn't to--are YOU stupid??

@MariahCareyDotCom Its a LIVE MIX, recorded for the purpose of lip syncing or to be used as a backing track. Artists make them everyday. I'm a record producer & an audio engineer. Staring at someones face expressions & mannerism is not a scientific way to conclude singing is live. MANY ppl thought (& still do think) Whitney's rendition of the nationl anthem was live. Which she has said was lipsynced. Not all lipsyncing is pop-princess-obvious. JEEZ. But, Regardless Mariah is amazing. Get a clue

@KyleRockafella It's actually quite obvious when Mariah lip-synchs. Her tell is that she tries to act cute -- when she sings live, she gets into it, primarily the hands movements go crazy. You can hear the strain in that ending C5 of WBT and furthermore, you can clearly see the movement of her larynx all throughout the upper-chest/head voice section of FLAB.

I'll get loads of hate for this, but I think the final chorus of We Belong Together (excluding the note) is pre recorded. It sounds exactly the same as her MTV Movie Award performance. If there's one thing about her genuinely live performances of We Belong Together, it's that they all sound different but this is just uncanny to the MTV performance.
I know there's that rumour that you can't lip at the grammy's but they would have negotiated because they wanted Mariah to perform.

If you don't believe me, play the last chorus of this We Belong Together performance and the performance at the MTV Movie Awards 2005 and you will see no difference.
It's pre recorded, she also used this version at the Live 8 concert in London, August 2005.
The MTV Movie Awards is the genuine live version of this performance, it was so good she just used it again.

@FoxHound109 This is NOT true AT ALL. I've witness many people lip sync on The Grammy's. Maybe they have to TELL the Grammy's the wont. But they cant control it. All artists use their own equipment and their on sound techs. Usually even the camera distances and angles are pre plotted by the artist or their management. How would the Grammy admin even begin to monitor that?? Just take a moment and think about this.

well, it's obvious.. she struggles at some parts as singers normally do when they sing live, and suddlendy there are parts where the voice is as clear as in the cd.. the only way to do it is miming!!
