so awesome! could u describe/show how exactly it works? like does the bow string hit all the strings at once an u jus mute wut u dont wana hear? or is it only on one string at a time? and can u change it?
It's tied to the string - when he pulls, it slips through his fingers with the breaid of the thread dragging across his thumbnail.... there is a Brazilian drum that works like this, you'll hear it in samba music, sounds kind of like a parrot squawking... cool stuff.

@booherz - No, I think he just stocks it there not to have it dragging around. It seems to be tied about 1cm away from the bridge, onto the third string. And as his thumbnail "scratches" the string, he plays the third string with his left hand.
I saw something similar in the movie "Latcho Drum" (which explores the origins of the Roms), where a Romanian violinist does the same with his instrument.
@pamibeau I was thinking he was merely pulling the string against the wraps of the guitar string itself. Looks like I need to take another go at this. I thought he was using the tacklebox as storage, too. It was cool to see how there's really nothing going on inside of that thing besides the pickup itself and pots/input jack/wiring. Thanks for the tip!

We recently saw these guys perform and the Bow string sounded so cool. Very unique and a great performance by everyone in the band.

This is brilliant. The bow opens up a whole new world of expressiveness that a pick can't quite provide (like steady crescendos). I love this.

the thread is looped in a great big circle, knotted to itself.

Is the string coming from the inside of the tackle box? I've been trying to figure out how to do this, and what kind of string to use...
