  • Excellent Video..Well Done Mate.

  • Pachelbel Canon D, is a beautiful piece of music, I would suggest to use it on a Weapon of War is rather like walking a Women down the aisle on her Wedding Day to "Ride of Valkyries". :)

  • didnt they used to have these mounted on airplanes during ww1 by a rear gunner

  • @elchoya100 Yes they did... although they were usually in the Aircraft version with a rear spade grip, the cooling fins and cover removed, and anti-aircraft sights.

  • any one who would pick that song for a gun video deserves his class 3 license, good show yank

  • looks like its prone to jamming. does it jam much?

  • @matthewcolt1911 Not at all... setting the clockspring tension properly can be tricky and can lead to malfunctions, but when properly set and with quality ammo the Lewis is a very reliable gun.

  • Awesome video. How many rounds do those pans hold?

  • @KHollister67 47 rounds

  • I just wanted to drop you a line and say that that was a very nice and very well edited video. On top of that all the toys you have that go with the Lewis gun ......well they are very nice to see. thumbs up!

  • Hell Yea!!!! Guns and classical music!!!!

  • DAMN YOU PACHELBEL!!!!!

    #pachelbel's rant

  • Is that watercooled? Or just some big, fancy barrel?

  • @Doctorchops It's air cooled, they're just big vent thigns around the barrel

  • @Doctorchops As TheJammykiller mentioned the Lewis Gun is air cooled. There are aluminum fins radiating out from around the barrel for cooling. The outer cover is to protect the fins and facilitate the movement of air from the back to the front of the barrel jacket, by design (in theory).

  • This video is beautiful, I think im in love

  • Yes your video is just awesome!

  • Beautiful, just...beautiful

  • Great vid of the Lewis gun!

  • I wish I had a CNC machine that could produce this fine machinegun with lots of magazines at an instant.I would love tons of ammo to include spare barrels.Yes I am dreaming but I love this thing. My Greatgrandfather used in in France in 1918 as a gunner. The Germans hated this gun.I fired one 10 years ago and its great like a M240 or M249 SAW.Guys its a pleasure to shoot it.The Germans called it the "Belgian Rattlesnake".I want one....Great Video Brother!Cool music too..

  • British gun, german camo.

  • @Cigarsoapbox the boonie is the german camo? thats army ABU camo, not german flecktarn...

  • Comment removed

  • @evanatromitoszarsaz That mat you had it on in the intro looks like it was East German camo.

  • @Cigarsoapbox It is, East German rain drop camo... got a bunch as surplus and they are great for ground cloths, table covers etc.

  • i couldnt have thought of a better soundtrack to put with this gun

  • a lovely yankee desing but made with care and love by the british just like their cars

  • Hamma Teil.

  • I hated loading the drums. You start out all excited that u get to shoot this vintage weapon, then the drum runs dry and u have to reload. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKIKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

  • Light machine gun? this thing weighs alot! But sure is awesome!

  • The Red Baron was killed by one of these.

  • My grandad was a Lewis Gunner with the CEF.

  • Perfect video, thanks mate!

  • Best gun video I have seen yet.

  • Amazing video, amazing gun. Somehow i can feel the Lewis gun. Thx mate!

  • I love the Lewis the first truly Battle worthy LMG, how they came up with the idea, of the muzzle blast changing the pressure & causing the air to be sucked through the cooling jacket is amazing in its self.

  • lets get some peelz with dis guuun!!!!!!!

  • I understand that the last WW1 British Tommy named Harry Patch died recently. He was a Lewis Gun ammo bearer with a 3 man Lewis gun squad.. A shell burst killed his 2 squad mates and he was wounded and out of the war.

  • Years ago I saw one in a Restaurant ! It was on display by a starcase. The restaurant was torn down and I went to their salvage sale, but it sadly it wasn't there. Charlie Zaberers Seafood LOL !

  • Was the russian DP-27 based off of the Lewis gun? They seem similar in design, though the DP-27 seems to be more simple.

  • Thats Beutimus *sniff sniff*

  • My dream MG - i'm very jealous!! i was inches away from buying one of the guns with provenance to Pancho Villa but i won an aircraft Vickers gun on auciton from JC Devine and could no longer buy the Lewis. Someday i will own one. Beautiful gun, and great videos!! Subscibed

  • Was used during the Spanish Civil War by the International Brigades in the battle for Madrid and in the counterattack on Guadalajara (3-1937).

All over by the german THALMANN Bt., french MARSELLAISE Bt. and italian GARIBALDI Bt.

    Great machine!

  • American weapons, always the very best.

  • @SRFColonel I am going to assume you are just ignorant, not arrogant.

  • @Rippyfloseph It is a american weapon.

  • @SRFColonel NO, ITS CHINESE

  • @007bondspy no it was used by the brits in ww1

  • Nice vid :-)

  • This soundtrack bring me images of germans being killed in super-slow motion with the Lewis :|

  • That thing is beautiful!

  • My grandfather was aLewis gunner in WW1, didn't want to talk about much though. Glad to find this and to learn more about it.

  • great vid. im about to buy a replica lewis gun to use in film and print work. i am a member of a sydney based ww1 australian millitary history griup. check us out on youtube at 18thbtnaif.

  • Oh and awesome video man ! very fun and instructive ! thanks again ^^ !!!

  • Looks like a very calm machinegun ? really have that low recoil ?

  • @soldier660 Well yeah it's heavy as hell.

  • @soldier660 As finalfantasyreal pointed out the weight of the gun and the fact I loaded the rounds light helps reduce felt recoil.

  • Watched it in HD. This is as close as it comes to understanding what it feels like to experience the Lewis gun without being able to be there.

Thank you so much for your brilliant video and loved the musical accompaniment. We are not all rock & rollers.

If you have access to any other military firearms, please consider giving them the same high quality video exposure.

    I salute you.

  • 0 people do not... wait what? :D

  • nice! The recoil was nice and low, that would have been nice back in WWII! Nice vid, but I have one suggestion. I liked the music in the downtime, but if you could put a dj changing sound and then a hardcore song when you shot I would have liked it a lot better. Just some positive criticism!

  • very nice and useful video. thank you for good work which you made with love to old gun mashine.

отличное видео, за один ролик узнал больше об устройстве этого пулемета, чем из чтения десятка книг. :)

  • Excellent! Now that is what I call "Living the Dream."

  • ahhh.. I know... This is the gun used by lewis and clark.

  • Never heard before of MG having such soft and warm sound. Truly a relaxation for sunny morning.

  • Machine-gunner from Civ lV

  • Now that is old school !

Awesome job on demonstrating its features particularly the drum magazine and how its loaded not to mention all the accesories. It didnt make the noise I was expecting of course when your on the other end of it I imagine the noise wasn't your main concern lol

I'm Australian and it just adds a little more realism to all those photos you see of Australian troops in the trenches with this weapon.

    Again job well done!

  • Nothing quite as relaxing as throwin' lead; which type of ammo does yours throw ? I heard that there are both .303 brit & 30-'06 versions.

  • @Roddyoneeye It shoots .303

  • My favorite MG.

  • What was the biggest capacity magazine they made for this gun?

  • @nowthisis2stupid The Aircraft Lewis Guns had 97 round drum mags. The ground guns, as shown here, were 47 rounds.

  • @nowthisis2stupid LoL, I no sooner asked that, and I read it in Shotgun News. I also read that the British fired a machinegun barrage consisting of an estimated 999,750 in one day, or one night with the vickers in world war 1. Could you imagine? Thanks for answering my question though.

  • @nowthisis2stupid 999,750 rounds that is.

  • Wow, i thought this gun would have such a great recoil, but you can shot standing up.

    Nice video :)

  • Great vid thanks!

  • Never thought a video about the Lewis could be so emotive. T. E. Lawrence,Siegfried Sassoon The Royal Flying Corps plus more all seem to hover around your vid. nicely done.

  • thumbs up for gun porn !!

  • Interesting choice for music.

  • cool

  • Replica or real antique??Won't it cost a fortune if it's antique??

  • @bangalorebully It is a real C&R Lewis Gun. Unfortunately they are rather pricey.

  • @AZFUN4ALL Better check out with C2Builder before saying that. With him you never know. That wizard cooks up replicas out of factory-made spares. :-)

  • Nice rare accessories especially the Vickers tripod adapter and AA sights. Thanks.
