I am glad that some player in the NFL had the speed to lay Welker out. He is the kind of offensive weapon that will destroy a defense. The Patriots and Steelers have a heated rivalry and I would not be a bit surprised if they play in the AFC championship in January of '12. Brady should have to wear a dress as he does not want any part of tackle football. I hope that I see a few more hits on Welker like this one.

You must have no idea what your talking about. The hit here isn't bad at all and the WR had plenty of time to defend himself. What you are all referencing to as being bad is the missed FACEMASK penalty. Those get missed all the timed. As for a fine? I don't often see many fines for facemask penalties. I keep watching it, over and over. The receiver has enough time to prepare for the hit, there's just a missed facemask call. Get over yourselves.

@lightdijini with a facemask like this it doesnt matter how long the reciever has. the discussion about defenseless receiver is irrelevant in this scenario because it wasn't helmet to helmet contact. and you talk about other face-mask penalties not getting called : yes, but polamalu is leaping towards welker missing him but then uses the facemask to hold on therefore using all is weight plus his forward energy to twist his neck. and you saw other calls for facemask getting fined and penalized

He wasn't fined, but given that Faulk and Chung were fined for hits that were not nearly as harsh, he should have been. Plus this was legitimately dangerous.

Any sort of tackle where a facemask is involved and a players head twisting is what it is, im with u alot of defenders are getting screwed over with rules, im a packer fan ive seen 2 QB hits this year that were called penalties when they were text book tackles on QBs, but theres a difference between football textbook and this
