a little 10 minute break to have a drink of water, an orange slice and a little think about how relatively harmless lifting tackles can easily have rather nasty consequences, with just a light change in head/neck position. I'm all for the horizontal dump though, just try not to up-end them.
I've refereed a few games before, if I was in the ref's position in this video (being able to see all of it) I would be hard pushed not to send the player off. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't give a red, let alone a yellow!

The curent rulings is that if the player is lifter over the horizontal and then driven to the ground then thats a spear and can be clasified as dangerous. If the player is just dropped then that's dangerous also. My opinion as a referee that would of been a yellow at least maybe a red depending on how the game went.

yeah i agree about diving... but a spear tackle is when you lift him up from the waist, and turn him upside down and then bring him down. a dump is when you lift him and put him down flat. that was an amazing tackle man which school are you in?
