  • thats pretty sweet. whats the battery life like?

  • i power my eee 901 from my car, directly, its internal power supply takes it quite well, and my cars ciggarette output fluctuates between 11 and 13.9v, hasnt killed the netbook yet

but it doesnt charge the battery well when the engine is off and the highbeams+rear demister+amplifier is doofing, though that is understandable

  • 8 AAs? cool. Although if you use a dc to dc converter to get the correct voltage instead of inverter and then a transformer (power adapter) it'd be more efficient.

  • the eee's power input is 12v, why not just directly feed it power from the aa's? bypass the charge, which is in fact just a 12v psu?

  • This 701 model requires 9.5V, not 12V. Even the newer models that take 12V would at least need a regulator in front of the batteries to keep the voltage swing within tolerance as current draw varied.

  • @cameron20020 You can run the asus eee pc as well as the acer aspire one direct off from 10 AA recharable batteries. See voltsxamps (dot com) for info. In fact they will run from any 12v source.

  • I agree. It would need to be an adjustable converter to get the 9.5V the 701 needs, though, and capable of 2.5 amps.

  • cool

  • how you do that?i need to do this on my asus eee 701...did you made this by yourself or you follow a tutorial?thanks.

  • Not much to it. AA batteries + 12VDC-120VAC automotive inverter + original Eee power supply. I would recommend using Li-Ion or paralleled NiMHs, since I had trouble maintaining the necessary current out of a single set of NiMH AAs.

  • this is the asus eee900 that's right?

  • no, its the 701 or 802

  • 701.

  • why don't you connect the batter to eeePC directly? More efficient

  • The 701 requires an odd voltage, 9.5V. Also I wanted to take advantage of the regulation of its switching power supply.

  • not every thing is on volt!!!! it will harm ur advice beleave me
