up until 1994.5 they were ALL IDIs with 1994 IDIs being turboed. After that in 1994.5 they became 7.3L DI Turbo Diesel Powerstrokes. They have had the name Powerstroke since 1994.5 up until the most recent super duty. Before that was just an IDI

actually from 1994-199.5 they had stock turbo on them My dad had an idi with a factory turbo but was replaced with the full banks setup.

for one, diesel fuel is cheaper then gas, and diesel trucks are pretty good with mileage..
