Is it a sin? David danced "naked" in the old testament to praise God. The Hebrews used horns and such for their music, horns are loud. I am a lover of classic music and gregorian chant, but i feel convicted enough to lift my hands and shout at times.

What saddens me is that when I am at the Catholic Mass(not always) I see such disconnection and boredom. Why doesnt the Gospel put fire in peoples hearts? It is precisely because as a lay person that I understand what takes place in the Latin Mass that I go to it. And it is not even a question of understanding Latin itself, but what takes place. Most people go to the vernacular mass and still don't know what is going on.
Fortunately, we have hundreds of churches which have preserved the beauty of the traditional Mass. Search online for Tridentine masses in your area. It's about time you came home to the 2000 year old Church instituted by Christ on the rock of St. Peter. May God be with you!

@nasa19581 What makes one Protestant or Catholic is their interpretation of the Bible. And there is nothing in the scripture that specifies how to conduct song or communion during mass. There is nothing "sacred" about the tradition of Tridentine mass. It is your preference. All tradition means is that is the way things have always been done. That does not award it merit. I thought their chanting was beautiful, myself. But there is no reason for anyone to mourn over someone doing it different.

@nasa19581 If Christians believe the Bible to be the word of God, then if there is no mandate for practicing mass or communion a certain way, then there is nothing incorrect about doing it a different way from the Tridentine mass. Mass might be sacred, but the act of doing it a certain way is not. If you can not find a mandate by God for practicing mass the Tridentine way, then I think we've proven who the stupid and ignorant one really is.

@055697 I would agree that one should make wider the difference between secular and sacred music(music about the christian life and God and music not about the latter) However, what if one feels the need to clap, or to dance or to make loud music? Is it a sin? David danced "naked" in the old testament to praise God. The Hebrews used horns and such for their music, horns are loud. I am a lover of classic music and gregorian chant, but i feel convicted enough to lift my hands and shout at times.

@iSteven00 But is that not an assumption, people clap because they feel joy and want to clap for the Lord, sometimes I feel such emotion when i here sacred music of all kinds that I just have to move. What saddens me is that when I am at the Catholic Mass(not always) I see such disconnection and boredom. Why doesnt the Gospel put fire in peoples hearts? One time ago, a black woman had the nerve to lift her hands during the mass, i knew people were staring. I had respect for her though.

My Grandafther was a Great Nephew of Venerable Pivs pp XII. This is the true Roman Catholic Sacrifice of the Holy Mass. I can't imagine any other Mass than this and shudder to think of what the Popes pre-1963 would think of the new vernacular farse they give you now in Church. Not even the Angelic Doctor would deny that those souls in hell are still brothers of the souls of those in heaven. They cannot change what they are. They can only control where they go. If Jews or other pagans are in hell, that says nothing about them not being created by God and being therefore our brothers.

It is precisely because as a lay person that I understand what takes place in the Latin Mass that I go to it. And it is not even a question of understanding Latin itself, but what takes place. Most people go to the vernacular mass and still don't know what is going on.

@thatUkrainianguy My friend the Holy Mass is still celebrated like this in many parishes. The Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP) formed by Pope JP2 operates in many countries around the world and conduct their liturgies like this. I agree, the insipid and banal Novus Ordo liturgy cannot compete.

@thatUkrainianguy There are Masses like this. If there is a church by you that has Latin Mass on Sundays, they may do High Mass now and then or maybe there's one that has High Mass every Sunday. Also, you shouldn't be in a religion because of its rituals and such, but because you believe that it is the truth, and the Catholic faith is the one, true faith that Jesus told His disciples to spread.

Luther believed in the real presence, you dont need some sort of scholastic explanation of the Real Presence to believe in the Real Presence. Read the Church fathers, no mention of "transubstantiation" until the middle ages.
