ok, the army wanted to test their nuclear weapons in New Mexico mining area,but many refused to leave bcause they practilly live there. some left, many stayed. nuclear weapons have nuclear waste, which can cause mutations. ( the movie tweaked it a bit tho) the army used the site to test nuclear weapons, and the ones who stayed were mutated from the nuclear waste. since their is no source of food in a desert, (who knows how they get water) they eat ppl who passing by thro the desert. END :D
