That expel of air you are hearing is to prevent getting the wind knocked out of you, if you were to get countered to the body. Also it tightens up core muscles and all around puts the cherry on top to a perfectly executed strike.
So with the hooks in muay thai how come the fist is in a riding bike position, instead of holding a steering wheel position?
Im not having a go I actually wanna know if there's any advantages to it, ive trained for boxing (a little) and ive recently started thai and the people i train with seem to be really bad at punching, but obviously better at all the other things, bt the trainer never pulls me up on my boxing skills, he's complimented them a few times and used me as an example
@zulu625 the vital points of an unnatural person is the same as a natural person......we all have the same vital points no matter how strong or skilled one is
I want to start boxing but theres no local club, only Thai boxing, I want to focuses fighting with my hands and Im not really much of a kicker, I hear anything goes in Thai. Is this true? Every video Ive seen is mainly kick oriented, will I be using my hands?
@heald111111111111111 Muay Thai is great I started training 3 months ago and I love it. In muay thai you use punches, kicks, knees and elbows. It depends on who your trainer is if they focus more on kicks or not. Traditional muay thai focuses more on kicks, but the way we train the emphasis is put on mixing all techniques together fluidly. We train boxing technique just as much as we do Kicking. I would definitely recommend starting muay thai it's a great workout and has really cool techniques.
@kironkabir Good for you man. I really enjoy it and would recommend it to anyone. Just remember that it takes time and dedication to improve. Be ready to get worn out and beat up a little bit.
@heald111111111111111 depends on the club but if it's a european style muay thai club or a club focused on K1 fighting there will be muay thai mixed with western boxing. That's what we do at my club.
Guys as you can see he is an opposite guard meaning he uses his right hand forward as opposed to the right so don't forget to adjust it to your own guard as it can get pretty confusing.
ive been doing thai boxing for a year and you dont hook like that curling your hands up like that you could brak your rists.who the hell trained you because there rubbish'and the guy who is ment to be a pro fighter has got his elbows way to out he could get hooked easily.
the only ting he isnt doing is bring his hand up to cover the face...covers leg perfectly...and standing on the balls of feet in slow motion would cause too much momentum and probably hurt his friend.
@ClownCockMeen many people use these Muay Thai tactics in 'real fights'. Would you consider a fight in the UFC, Pride FC (RIP), or K1 a 'real fight'? Muay Thai is known by martial artists to be one of the most effective and brutal disciplines in the world.
@ClownWalkMeeen the reason these techniques dont work for people in real fights is because people are to lazy to train to way there suppost to. If you don't put in the time into it, it wont work. Kicks take real work to work in real situations and people are just to lazy to do that work.
Very sloppy technique. Doesn't go on the balls of his feet when he kicks. His foot does nothing when he knees. Should be pointing back. Drops his hands before he punches. Actually one of the worst videos i've ever seen.
Thanks for the video! I subbed make more. I am learning a bunch from these! very helpfull. Subtitles help, but they are a bit delayed. oh well :) make more...!!
He's not rolling onto the ball of his foot when he does the knee strikes...and he swings his arm too low when he kicks. It leaves him exposed. Pretty good video overall though
first thing i picked up on this guy is he dropps and then swings his arms with his kicks which is a sign of lacking in technique and although muay thai is a good martial arts i don't feel that it is very defencive and lacks its side in defence compared to original kickboxing or traditional karate but if you are the type that likes to be the first man in i say this is the one for you.
@MetalHeadJuggalojr muay thai doesn't lack defence. The guy in the video lacks defence. His technique sucks. One of the most rubbish muay thai vids i've ever seen!
Im not trying to criticise this at all, you'd probably kick my ass, but i just wanted to point out something for beginners. When you do front kick, use your heel and not your toes. Its just a safer and stronger kick that way. (safer meaning you wont break your toes)
In my 29 years of training, I find it more important to improve my techniques as opposed to criticizing others. If you are that good a fighter, why are you watching a beginners training clip? Focus on yourself, that is what the martial arts are about
@tgreaper people just put those comments out there to mabe corect them and give other ideas aposed to slaging them off about there crappy techniques and after 29 years of muay thi why the fuck are you on this vid?
@salmon595 constructive criticism is always good, but to just rag on someone is crazy. And to answer your question, I like to refresh my mind at times by watching beginners in action. I remember what it was like back then.
@tgreaper i gave a thumb up because i agree in this case.
however, after wrestling and kickboxing for so many years i still watch the beginner videos over and over and over and over again again and again. The basics are so important that i always go back to them once awhile, it helps me remember certain things i could do in a fight, so that i dont lose a fight and say to myself : OMGSH, how come i didnt do this or do that...
dont critize or you will be critize. for most of yall who have negative commets keep it to ur self.keyboarders who use the internet to critzie because they cant do what the guy could do have no life. sure he made common mistakes with the kick names but most of you so called keyboarders who are so hard would not have the balls to go to the man and say it to his face let another half of you could not even do a liver kick. if u could do better than post a video and show the world how dum u r
people have every right to criticize something. if nobody criticized, no one would have points of reference to go on to analyse what is right and what is wrong.
Ok, nice video, but perhaps knees, rib, stomach are not called 'vital point' right? U said 'vital points' in the title but i dun see any vital points attacking skill here.
They are vital points. first kicks to tje legs can easly brake or dislocate the joint, IF u hit the ribs, the liver shot. The person can pass out or these lover ribs can crack and just shank your liver or other organs. The one he hits with the knee to the chest breaks your chestbone and it breaks inside and just goes trough your lugs, and elbow hits can be wital, but i dont know about the simple strait and round punches...they dont look vital at all...
I dont mean that those attacking places are not hurt, just that these places are not considered 'vital points' in traditional martial arts. Check out what is 'pressure point' via google.
Well, you kind need your knees to stand up, you need your ribs to actually be alive for more than 5 minutes and if you don't have a stomach well then you're pretty fucked lol. So yeah, they're pretty vital points
You do not wanna strike with the middle of the lower shin, you wanna strike with the bottom part of the shin just above the foot, if you use the middle of the shin and they leg check solidly with the top half of their shin it can break your shin in half.
Why do you keep dropping your hands when you're kicking? In a match you could and probably would get baited to kick just so your opponent can expose your head. I do realize in some cases you trade hand posturing for power but for basic demonstration hands should be up and clearly shown. Personally I would eat a leg kick in a match any day if it opens up an opportunity to hit the head.
@iApna Not perticurly with Muay thai. Theres alot of elbow and knee moves and theyre not allways useing thai boxing itt just depends. Study up on more traditional moves and technices.
@iApna alot of differrnt body parts are used heads knees all parts of the arms most of the parts of legs. when u kick depending on what type and how ur kicking u can use your arms to spin your self or add a little more force it depends on what your doin i thhink u have more of a boxing or mma idea going which is tottally differnt from martial arts Kung Fu and most other martial arts were designed to Miam and kill ur opponents. Differnt types of martial arts have differnt technices.
@iApna JUst because they dont have there hands up in a defensive position doesnt mean they cant defend there selfs. Theres technices thatll eat ur jabs and punches up all day like wooshoo that mainly hand technices not all but its very good against boxing.the mma and shit like that are not allowed to use full on force because its usaully desingned to maim and kill so your not seeing the full potential of any kung fu or martial arts.
@elijah4433 - I am not sure what comment you are responding to me on but I will take a shot at responding. But just to let you know I am a Muay-Thai and MMA practitioner.
Regardless of art practitioners of each style will think their art is superior. What has been proven to work however is how a fighter is prepared for conflict. Learning a technique to block & counter a jab/cross is insignificant compared to preparing the mind and body to respond. continued....
@elijah4433 Continued. Each art has maiming, killing techniques yes so does Muay-Thai based on Muay Chayia, Boran, etc. Knowing the technique for the circumstance to maim, kill or simply subdue the opponent is not the issue. Just about any art can teach you that. Training the mind and body to fight is a whole different story. Just remember in a street or ring fight your greatest opponent is yourself. MMA, MThai, boxing, etc. training systems help get you there faster.
@elijah4433 - So should someone rely completely on MMA, Muay-Thai, boxing, etc...? No not at all. MMA being mixed martial arts is a great beginning. Someone might decide that they prefer grappling more than striking then branch off. I took up Muay-Thai separately because the MMA coach I had was merely a striker and could not get down into the details I wanted. So I found an instructor who is a 5x world champ. It made a huge impact in a short amount of time.
@iApna hold on. im not sure what i message i am responding i think i might have been posting on the wrong video allthough i dont know how i did that i had been up and working for 4 days idk anyways i think i accidetnly posted on u let me check the other pages plz ttyl
yeah i think i did because my other starts but then stops all the sudden srry. but u said u practice Muay Thai? Thats preety cool Ive been thinking about that and Wooshoo. But i'm not really able to because of different finacial situations currently but thats awesome u ever think about going back in to MMA that would be cool to see someone ive talked to on there. Anyways srry its got a stupid multi gesture touch pad and it deos go back and forward pages when u touch it a certain way. Put
@iApna tried doing that and although it is easy to counter it's not a good idea... took about 5 strong low kicks to my left leg in my 2nd match just so i could counter. Didn't really feel them in the match but after I couldn't walk very well for a week... it sucked lol
lol nub? u clearly dont know my history but man im not going to get in a internet altercation with you` cuz im sure you get off on this petty shit...now I was taught that a push kick is done with your lead leg if you disagree thats fine I am sure you have been taught differently but whats it matter?
i thai box my self evry time i fight i keep hitting right knee the will break down and will be slower so u have more chanse !!!!!doth forget to black!!!!!! or els he give u a good upper and that may by it...
Muay Boran is directly translated to Ancient Boxing and its from Thailand i can say to 100%. Combodians got their type of boxing style but Muay boran is from thailand. but it got some influences and techniques borrowed from their styles such as Kamae Kham Sao from cambodia.
so stop being a smart prick PRAKTISTHAI. your just an ignorant fool
True, muay thai and such are a mixed of indigeous thai arts along with cambodian arts. Thai's borrowed alot from the cambodians in art n culture and language, im viet n study south east asian history and culture at UNLV. Another fun fact Boran is a khmer(cambodian) loan word borrowed into Thai. along with many other things, thais dont steal they borrow and adapt and vice versa. its just not cool when they dont give credit to some of there culture(cambodia)
Khmers invented elbow and knee combination strikes b4 siams. Its also engraved in the stone walls of Angkor Wat to tell the stories of ancient Khmer warriors who used the true form of this martial art to protect the Khmer Empire. Developed thousands of years before muy tie. Tai ppl borrowed the techniques and claimed it fully as theirs. fuck them tai ass sell outs. they don't know jack squat about the true art.
everybody saying this video sucks, either (1)post your own video doing it better or (2)quit typing, u prove nothing except that you're a coward who can criticize from a computer 1000s of miles away
there's absolutely nothing wrong with criticizing someone's technique in a video designed to show technique. this guy's technique in his kicks is amateur. i'm a muay thai fighter (under Kru Nurse). I should know.
It's not actually that bad. The base and floating ribs are the best points to hit right at the start. The pain builds up as the muscles are tiring, causing them to fatigue way before you do. Fatigue is an open weakness, et voila.
Yup - muay thai is extreme. Our trainer used to make us stand in a line and he'd go back and forth the line punching us in the stomach xD. It is rough, but this way you get used to being hit.
You drop down the arm where you are kicking from, if you kick with the right, you swing your right arm back..... Its part of the motion and feel... Makes your hips twist more...

elijah4433 1 year ago

Learning a technique to block & counter a jab/cross is insignificant compared to preparing the mind and body to respond. continued....
iApna 1 year ago
@elijah4433 Continued. Each art has maiming, killing techniques yes so does Muay-Thai based on Muay Chayia, Boran, etc. Knowing the technique for the circumstance to maim, kill or simply subdue the opponent is not the issue. Just about any art can teach you that. Training the mind and body to fight is a whole different story. Just remember in a street or ring fight your greatest opponent is yourself. MMA, MThai, boxing, etc. training systems help get you there faster.

@iApna ud be surprissed what people who take martail arts seriuosly and who live by that philosphy can do.
elijah4433 1 year ago
@elijah4433 - So should someone rely completely on MMA, Muay-Thai, boxing, etc...? No not at all. MMA being mixed martial arts is a great beginning. Someone might decide that they prefer grappling more than striking then branch off. I took up Muay-Thai separately because the MMA coach I had was merely a striker and could not get down into the details I wanted. So I found an instructor who is a 5x world champ. It made a huge impact in a short amount of time.

@iApna tried doing that and although it is easy to counter it's not a good idea... took about 5 strong low kicks to my left leg in my 2nd match just so i could counter. Didn't really feel them in the match but after I couldn't walk very well for a week... it sucked lol

Front kick can be done with either leg.
Or at least that is how I was taught when I studied under Thai Muay Thai teachers in the UK and in Thailand.

did he call that push kick a front kick?
TheMetalist83 2 years ago
no foot movement on the hooks. should be up on his base toe for the knees and push his hips through.
OLDMANBADGER 2 years ago
He's too flat footed, those are not muay thai kicks and knees. I guess that would be from his kickboxing background.

TommyA9011 2 years ago 3
i think you know a lot o.o maybe you we can chat someday and have some conversation if you're interested O.o?
Westside0utlaw 2 years ago
True, muay thai and such are a mixed of indigeous thai arts along with cambodian arts. Thai's borrowed alot from the cambodians in art n culture and language, im viet n study south east asian history and culture at UNLV. Another fun fact Boran is a khmer(cambodian) loan word borrowed into Thai. along with many other things, thais dont steal they borrow and adapt and vice versa. its just not cool when they dont give credit to some of there culture(cambodia)
anhkhoinguyen 2 years ago
man fuck cambodia man, if they was so nice they wouldve came out with this shit b4 thai people
Nggio 2 years ago

PRAKTISTHAI 2 years ago 2
there's absolutely nothing wrong with criticizing someone's technique in a video designed to show technique. this guy's technique in his kicks is amateur. i'm a muay thai fighter (under Kru Nurse). I should know.

Punches horrible, vai trainer de'pois first places in youtube.jajaja
Diegoata1 2 years ago
thats so bad, he just chooses some random combonations.
RandomFrazMan 2 years ago
It's not actually that bad. The base and floating ribs are the best points to hit right at the start. The pain builds up as the muscles are tiring, causing them to fatigue way before you do. Fatigue is an open weakness, et voila.

first day of muay thai i got punched by the leader in the stomach until it hurt to breathe. is that normal?
FriskyPoptart 2 years ago 7
Yup - muay thai is extreme. Our trainer used to make us stand in a line and he'd go back and forth the line punching us in the stomach xD. It is rough, but this way you get used to being hit.
elendiel 2 years ago 3
hellllllll no! instructor can get sued for that.
xmobster5 2 years ago
really? lol wow.. well im not gonna sue em but i just thought maybe they should teach me something before they beat the hell outa me... yanno?
FriskyPoptart 2 years ago
yeaah, lol i remember when my instructor hit me, i caught him off guard and hit him right in the nose.
xmobster5 2 years ago
no you sign a medical waver.
it's all apart of the training, being able to withstand the pain is a great part of muay thai.
if you're a fighter you have to be fit not only physically but mentally as well.
omgethan 2 years ago
not in the beggining of trainning...
xmobster5 2 years ago
only in america can you get sued for punching somone in a boxing class.
what stupidity? its a thai kick boxing class, it would be strange if you didnt get hit

You drop down the arm where you are kicking from, if you kick with the right, you swing your right arm back..... Its part of the motion and feel... Makes your hips twist more...
spawn369 2 years ago 4
yeah but it leaves you vulnerable to a knockout head kick if you are not careful
