God bless your souls.Truly the greatest heroes next to the men who fought Chernobyl.I do not know how to describe how great these people are.Upmost respects from Canada.WOW
Interesting how the the concept KAMIKAZE is understood differently by the British interviewer Buerk and the Japanese interviewee, Yamada. The interviewer was quite, quite culturally insensitive here. Yamada makes the logical conclusion that the effect of radiation damage to his life is far less than to to that of young people.
Mr.Yamada strongly denied the image "KAMI-KAZE",but media wish to act the group as Kamikaze, because that is a news. refer "Fukishima 50" then next should be "Fukushima 60".
Hahahah.. Good slap to that reporter who is so typical white dude with his stereotype thoughts. Not all Japanese are Kamikaze. And dont take Japan for a fool. Japanese are the most organized people i must say. Fukushima case was because of some greedy corporate s and that does not represent all the Japanese.
I admire Mr Yamada's remarkable efforts and wish him - and all the people of Japan - Godspeed in dealing with the devastation brought about by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear tragedies.
There were brave Americans who sacrificed their lives to fight against the hijackers. Whether they be Japanese or American, let's not forget these people who risk their lives.
Mr Yamada (age 72 !! ) and his team call themselves " The Skilled Veteran Corps". As of June 5, they've signed up 277 volunteers and raised more than $30,000 to support their efforts. He made a proposal to install an alternative cooling system. If you are interested in this project, please visit his website on my page.
In a twisted kind of way I'm really happy this happened in Japan. There the only country strong willed enough to get on and fix it. Look at new Orleans.. its still fucked
when people start not to think about their selves only, but also about others. Only then you know they are on the right track.....only then you know their nation is a strong strong hold!!

@jimmyPain2121 Relax man, sometimes people just want to joke about things. My comment didn't happen to mention the respect I have for this man, but that doesn't mean there is none there. Don't take things at face value, especially not on YouTube.
"Are you Kamikaze pensioners" What the HELL kind of question is that?
Anyway, the amount of selflessness and community healing that I've seen in light of this disaster has honestly made me reevaluate whether or not western culture has much to offer humanity. The fact there was no looting, there was organization amidst incredibly terror... It's inspiring of awe and respect.
@uexp4 These people are smart and rational, they are not sacrificing their lives by doing something stupid that will kill them: I'm sure they will still take all the precautions. Still it's very honourable of them to offer to accept the risks because it makes more sense than needlessly endangering the young.
No!!.. these old people should be training TEPCO and young people about how dangerously stupid it is to leave Bins Laden with spent nuclear fuel on site at uninsured nuclear power plants around the world.
what a stupid thing to say "kamikaze" stupid reported so, so stupid
