  • happy birthday roger daltrey

  • this song is unreal. Touches you straight in the soul. Something unbelievably powerful.

  • EXTRAORDINAIRE THE WHO sont a leur apogé avec cette album

  • Great rap and great rock.I love both

  • Fuckin BRILIANT

  • The Mods!!!

  • @Dean100able The Rockers. Both? The Mockers! Thanks Ringo.

  • how people can listen to rap n shit over this is just beyond me keep the faith :)

  • @Muse96UK No disrespect intended, but you are comparing apples and oranges. I love this record, but there is also good rap music just like there is bad rock n'roll.

  • @orenico96 I had to chuckle as you compared good rap music to bad rock and roll. I'm sure it wasn't your intent to say that good rap is as good as bad rock and roll. Hee, hee, hee. You have to remember that music is an art form and for it to be art it has to arouse emotion good or bad. It's all subjective to the listener. I've listened to allot of submissions and some I won't even comment on and others move me in one way or another and I'll comment on it. Regardless of the style.

  • @Insight200801 Actually I meant to say 'genre' and not style. Got myself. ;P

  • AWESOME Song !

  • What is there to say about this Masterpiece?

  • 3:47 onwards especially i think is beautiful!

  • i honestly get shivers when i hear the end solo best band ever people :D

  • Greatest band of all time :D

  • This nice :D~

  • This is so god damn good

  • Mods are the the sensitive and better fighting punks with attitude and drugs too !

  • sad..........there are no more rock operas...yet......who could fill the shoes of The Who ? no one...........was the greatest time to be alive back then............at least for me......i hate getting old.........instead of living the nights.........i find myself sleeping thru them now.........

  • @arai59 Try Pain Of Salvation "Be"

  • @arai59 But, you did live then, lucky bastard. And you've LIVED nights, I'm 17 and I barely have a social life. I'd give anything to be alive then :I Any-fucking-thing.

  • @ultimateshield4ever I guess it's all relative. This is your time. Live it and remember. Although todays music leaves much to be desired. Mind poisoning anger with no point or agenda, other than demanding respect.. You poor bastards.....you got a lot to learn. The Who was and still is one of the best diverse bands ever. I do feel fortunate to remember those times..........just wish I could rewind the clock.........only love can make it rain.

  • @arai59 That's why I don't listen to today's music, I'd rather hear what my mother listened to back in the 80's then this crap. As far as it goes for my time and living it, I don't get that priviledge. I'm held back by a lot of things, kids don't have as much freedom as they used to weither it seems that way or not, my mother agrees.

  • @ultimateshield4ever If you were a kid in the 80's you might have been pissed that The Who was history and pissed at Pete Townshend and bands like Rush who let themselves be affected by bullshit trends that were happening. If you were a skateboarder in the first half of the 80's and didn't live in California you were by yourself and having a rough time. Still, compared to now, you look and you see there was still a lot of great music, great bands and movies.

  • @ultimateshield4ever Now there's a HUGE void where Rock N' Roll used to be. If you're a skateboarder now you're laughing. The Ramones were great! They were just bringing back the primitive Rock N' Roll but once it broke in England it became a massive brainwash and it fucked everything up! When's the next time that you're going to find something as brand new and incredibly exciting like Rock N' Roll in the 50's, 60's and 70's? When will everybody grow their hair long again?

  • @ultimateshield4ever When Punk Rock broke in England, that is. It's funny, you know, the break in this song and 'Cut My Hair' is the first thing I think of when it comes to how I felt when I was a kid like you. Imagine A Man, too. I still have the same raw emotions. I might be a lot different than you but I was sad the same way. I was the cutest kid but, I was the result of a relationship between some incredibly selfish, ruthless and narcissistic people.

  • @ultimateshield4ever i.e. Society Types/Sociopaths. Not Tony Sopranos crowd. The other side, his Shrinks crowd, who thumbs their noses down at his ilk when the truth is that her crowd is a million times worse and is where you find the true Sociopaths. They blend in. You don't see them for who they are. If you're Mother actually has a conscience and the capacity to love you and there is no one to prevent her from loving and caring for you, don't take it for granted.

  • @ultimateshield4ever We lived then and we loved it and you live now and you best love it this is your time love your life 17!

  • @manovatny What life have I to live? I haven't been truly happy since I was 8. And I won't be again until I escape the rut I'm in. What is their to love in a time like today?

  • @ultimateshield4 You've never been truly happy in that long?, And you want to escape your rut, your narrow point of view, your perspective on life? Well then buddy, I think shrooms were made for you!

  • Si no lo tienes te quedaste con Bowi y T. Rex.-

  • 0:00 0:40 that solo sound so fuckin EPIC

  • Man, i need to download all Who's Album~

  • @deadtoanimations, its called a overture, which is an overview of the entire piece of music, dumbass

  • @yomamas177 Why are you hating on youtube? Jesus.

  • @fruitykill the who were mods not rockers dumbass

  • Love everything the Who does but this album is their Magnum Opus.

  • @godbluffvdgg I pretty strongly agree that the album was the pinnacle of their creative output.

BUT....if I had to pick one single song as my top favorite (of any rock group), that honor would go to Won't Get Fooled Again. Hands down.

  • @Jangle2007 Tough to pick a favorite Who song... : ) I would have to pick "A Quick one" if someone put a gun to my head.

  • @peace0eight what do you mean rockers if they thumbs down this than they are losers more that rockers

  • The whole track is incredible, but 4:46 gives me chills every time I hear it!

  • @thornhead1994 Ive just realised that part is from love reign over me, why is it in this track?

  • @thornhead1994 you're totally right about it!

  • @thornhead1994 2' 05 3 '45 you moron

  • @ILAN2187 He's a moron for liking a particular part of the same song that you like parts of? You're a moron.

  • @batosai370 i like all of it but this part take me higher when i smoke a joint sorry for called you moron

  • 1 genesis 2 pink floyd 3 zepelin 4 rush 5 doors 6 the who 7 yes

  • @ILAN2187 1. Pink Floyd :I

  • @ultimateshield4ever lets say that both pink floyd and genesis at the same level

  • This is how prog rock should be

  • @noradosmith this is not progrock dumbass

  • @yomamas177 fuck you, this is prog to the core

  • I agree just shutup and enjoy the music.

  • i don´t know why you english speakers people are so short minded, maybe its the poor expression your language has, you are always arguing and fighting as idiots, better get some spanish lessons, or french, or italian, so with your great energy could build a better world instead of destructing it, greetings from México City.

  • People, please, they all are great bands and all very different in their own ways, they all have their place in music history and not because one is better than the other, but on their contributions to music .Like feddie said, enjoy the music.

  • HI, Randomovieguy, nice to know someone else is supporting the story,a lot of phoney people out there who will turn a blind eye to there idols commiting vile acts ,all because they like the music, how sad.

  • WHEN TOWNSEND WAS ARRESTED FOR DOWNLOADING CHILDPORN,WAS HIS MIDDLE NAME DENNIS>

  • @joedog281 Cool story, bro

  • my teachers always tell me that classical music from mozart and bach are the best to listen to when im studying.. fuck that shit! (not that im disregarding it cuz it is good music for its time :P) but i rather put on quadrophenia as this is also classical

  • Well, I'll just throw this in then: The teabags had all either been to India or knew someone who had been there. The lyrics that exploded out of the minds of Lennon, McCartney, Jagger, Townshend, Waters, Hayward, Lynne, Hodgson and others from the UK in the late '60s and early '70s were a perfect match for easygoing gange we were doing in those days.

  • I agree with @8DpoverNJ, lyrically and musically The Who are the best band to come out of England. I enjoyed Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and even a song or 2 from The Beatles but none of them have the overall appeal to me as The Who.

  • @Soulman785 The Who never was as good musically as The Beatles.

  • @Luxmaxnike

Yes The Who were better musically, both in compostiions and musicianship than The Beatles.

  • a masterpiece in every aspect. just incredible

  • alisday12,are you one of his pervy followers ,

  • THROW DIRTY ARSE GLITTER TO THE DOGS ,,,BUT LET TOWNSEND GET AWAY WITH HIS DIRT,,,,

  • @joedog281 fuck offf

  • crazy keith, rockin roger, jaming john, powerslide pete

  • there are no rights, there are no wrongs, just differencies of opinion. Broadly speaking ; my opinion is that THE BEATLES and THE STONES and THE WHO and anything of that time/ period/decade/s is better than the conveyer belt manufactured production line shite that we have now. I dont even like hardcore except maybe one band that might tower above all the others at the moment . They are called THE OCEAN BETWEEN US.

  • can anyone out there every hear another band that could be described as sounding like the who?

  • Isn't it nice that we can all argue about The Who v. The Beatles v. Zeppelin v. The Stones (v. why hasn't anyone brought up Queen?) and all be exactly right?

  • The Who songs are much more deeper, emotional and personal than either the Stones, Beatles or Led Zeppelin. All are amazing, but no other artist writes songs that move me more than Pete Townshend. I identify with the angst, exhiliration and passion of the lyrics more with hiim than any of the others.

  • The who are better than the beatles any day. Like the rolling stones even more though.

  • This is who I was 15 years ago

  • The Beatles: the best ones composing romantic ballads and beautiful songs; The Who: the best ones when it comes to Rock Opera; Led Zeppelin: the best ones when it comes to hard rock.

  • The first time i listened to Quadrophenia i didn't know The Who. I just took the album from a library (where you can also find music) because i liked the sleeve... I admit i freaked out with Quadrophenia.. "what a voice! amazing drums and guitar!" It was going to a theatre, each song was like a different chapter of the same story... then i began to know The Who. It's sad Keith died just when The Who were composing better and better. Keith was the backbone of the band.

  • How about we stop comparing bands to each other and enjoy the fucking music.

  • One of Townsend's best pieces

  • Comment removed

  • @fordatude I think Zeppelin were better, with a lot of great songs, most of them. The Who have many soft and boring songs however some of their songs are really amazing, i really love them, specially the hard ones with Daltrey singing loud. Jimmy was better than Townshend as a guitarist but i think Townshend was better as a "musician". Bonham and Keith... both amazing. JPJ and the Ox, the same... Roger was amazing but i think Plant was unique, more versatile.

  • After this album, the group's sound went down. It didn't help that Keith Moon died.

I mean, what did we get later? Athena. Gimme a break.

  • I remember when they played this at Madison Square Garden the year the album came out. The band was booed for having taped music of the synthesisers and horns in the background.

  • no one can beat this song. its the most epic

  • i never miss Keith or John more than when I listen to this track....

  • I love the Who!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dat synth line

  • Quadrophenia + No Lights + Lavalamp + Mary Jane = best 1.3 hours of my life

  • 7 people were born with a thumb on the other side of the hand...

  • 0:00 to 0:40 is one of my all time favorite guitar solos. I heard this on the radio yesterday, and you better believe it cranked that volume up to 11!

  • @MokoMikoMako my bad, 0:07 to 0:40.

  • Quadrophenia > Pinball Wizard.

  • Wow..Listening to the album as I find the songs...Pure genius. Head & shoulders above anything that comes out nowadays

  • the WHO was kind of the subconscious mind of the rock of that era?

  • Is this track cut from some versions of the CD?

  • The Who were truly unique. Nobody sounds like them. If they had any influences i don't know about them. The Beatles said the were influenced by Elvis. Lol. The Rolling Stones were influenced by Chuck Berry. WTF!. The Who stands alone and there can only be one. (Worlds Greatest Band)

  • Started listening to this song, and now I can't stop listening. Epic song.

  • Pink Floyd did a take on that riff at 5:00(thereabouts) on "meet the machine"

  • Best rock ever composed!!

  • great song

  • did they ever do this song live?

  • @flamesguy11 yes performed the whole albun live last year at the albert hall.It was amazing,

they also performed it live before in the 90's

  • 7 rockers...

Anyway We are We are We are the Mods!

  • This song made me divide by 0.

  • Questo è quel che ci vuole!

  • i REALLY like Moonie's druming at the Helpless Dancer part of the song. Right as the synthesizers come in, he taps the bass drum once. This changed the whole feel of that section of the song to me. That one tap of the bass drum made it less like a rock song and more like a march. The diversity on this album is incredible. WAY ahead of its time.

  • Classical music meets rock. This is by far one of the greatest albums ever. Great synthesizer work, complemented by the Ox's lead bass, Roger's killer vocals, Moonie's electrifieing drums, and Pete's brilliant overall composition are what makes it musically superior to anything else out at the time. Match that with a killer story, and you've got the best rock opera EVER! LONG LIVE ROCK!!

  • what is this album about?

  • @kfag101 it's about a boy( jimmy cooper) living in england during the sixties. Jimmy is a mod, and he hangs out with his friends and what not. but he has personalities that relate to all the members of the Who: petes fiery attitude, roger's charisma, john's politeness and kieth's craziness. Jimmy is also like addicted to amphetamines and later gets like kicked out his house.... anyways man just watch the film. its great

  • @0kapnkrunk0 I will thanks!

  • 2:10 = Eargasm

  • I love this album

    Zeppelin fans love this album

    Beatles fans love this album

    Stones fans love this album

It is out of media and hits parades, but he will be forever deep in our hearts!

Needless to say it´s the best drums and bass ever recorded!

  • Masterpiece. Nothin' to say anymore.

  • The media and everybody just went nuts over Tommy. This was a thousand times better and is always over looked. Every documentary about The Who always skips over this or just talks briefly about it. This was Pete at his best. My favorite Who album by far.

  • song starts at 4:46

  • @mrKANEandLYNCH no, the song starts at 0:00 this isn't love reign o'er me. its a whole diferent song in it's self

  • @TheBucketheadhead no dumbass i ment the whole song is shit till 4:46 get it now

  • @mrKANEandLYNCH how is the whole song shit til then? it is a excelent work of art from a great band, you sir, are a dick

  • @TheBucketheadhead bro calm down like my opinoin maters to the six billion people on this earth

  • @mrKANEandLYNCH i was being scarasitic haha

  • 'clean living under difficult circumstances' peter meaden said that

  • The tab for this is alomost ten pages long. Just goes to how how great the Who were.

  • Listening to this album was a big, big problem for me. It heightens your quality and complexity standards too much! After listening to such a perfectly composed, played and sung piece of music like Quadrophenia, everything you and your ears listen after it seems dull and simple in comparison.

By far, and without any single doubt, my favorite album/masterpiece ever.

  • Too some people like me THE Who are scooters and the whole scooter scene. I still have a parka with the who on the back and still get suited and booted as my dad did before me, the roller coaster ride of this album has got me through some good and bad times. THIS IS ART!

  • By far the greatest instrumental piece of all time!

Quadrophenia is THE greatest album ever created!

  • at 4:46 it's certainly a thrill!!!

  • Look, the Beatles and the Stones were okay and had some good songs BUT THE WHO had a different connection to something a bit beyond in our conscience. You Who fans know what i'm talking about. But for the rest of ya, when you hear that redundant question about "The Beatles or The Stones?," just answer THE WHO!!!!!!!! No apologies!!!!!

  • @8DoverNJ I idolize all three, but I always answer "THE WHO" emphaticly because a) the debate is retarded, and b) the Who were absolutely the equal of the other two, easilly, and emotionally MUCH more honest musically.

  • @8DoverNJ "the Beatles had some good songs" is the most laughable statement I have ever read on YT

  • @rippinz06 unless read in the context of a 3000 word "History of the Milky Way Galaxy"

  • @8DoverNJ

thats bullshit, i love The Who as much as the next guy but, there is nothing that makes The Who better or worse than the Beatles or the Stones. your pretty much saying "yeah your ok, but you'll never be as good as those guys", when in fact the Stones and the Beatles are in a league of their own, much like The Who. your trying to compare the incomparable.explain to me how Quadrophenia is better than Sgt. Peppers, or Steel Wheels. explain to me how The Who are better than The Doors.

  • @Mikkael365 i agree that the beatles and stones are in leagues of their own, but they didn't change music the same way the who did. dont get me wrong, the beatles and the stones were rock innovators who both brought that sound to the states, but the who changed the way people saw the bass guitar and drums. on top of that, they were the first band to tell stories in their music, and killer stories they were. all three bands are legends, but the who is the superior of the three.

  • @Mikkael365 My god your having a laugh sgt.Peppers was a shit album.Beatles and stones were great bands but never as great as the who or led zeppelin

  • @quadrophenia41

or maybe yuo have shit taste, so how bout you go fuck yourself, cause the beatles were a far better band than the Who, and you can't proove me wrong.

  • @Mikkael365 I can prove your spelling wrong, but not your biotch rant...

  • @upthcreek

    exactly, you can't do shit

  • @Mikkael365 you seem to think i should fuck myself because of my dislike of 1 album education would have been good for you try it or is it yuo. fool

  • @quadrophenia41

    cool story bro

now go play pokemon or something

  • @Mikkael365 thats better i'm laughing now we'll have to adree to disagree

  • @Mikkael365 The Who Did more "good stuff" then the Beatles because they lasted for decades!

  • @soxwina fuk off

  • @Mikkael365 Frank Zappa once said that the Beatles only had thre good songs. Paperback Writer, Hey Jude, and I Am The Walrus. I tend to agree with Zappa.

  • @Mikkael365 The Who has a great drummer the beatles has ringo, The who has a great bass player the rolling stones dont, The who has a great vocalist and the doors have jim morrison, The who has a great song writer/guitar player and the rolling stones, the beatles and the doors dont

  • @MoPower2112

lol, the rolling stones have a great bass player, just because they don't go 90 at it all the time doesn't mean he sucks at it. what do you mean the beatles don't have a great song writer/guitar player, are you daft, Paul, John, George harrison, they all wrote songs and played guitar.

  • @Mikkael365 Sorry im just being an ass, and i love all those band you mentioned minus the doors, but the who is still my fav. Keep on rocking my classic rock amegio :D

  • @MoPower2112

    so rage induced trolling?

  • @Mikkael365 More or less :D

  • @MoPower2112 Keith Richards was a great songwriter/guitarist

  • @sulmagnificent 2112 r u rush fan

  • @8DoverNJ I KINK you might have a point... I'll have to give The Who a respectful silver medal, for the British rock team, after much consideration, the gold, in my judgment, goes to the Kinks... Beatles... ya ya ya.. Stones.. no satisfaction... one last jab... there would be no Pink Floyd, without Parson's...

  • @upthcreek all great bands but add led zepp and small faces to that list but the thing that stands out is their all english bands.

  • @8DoverNJ The Stones have generic blues sound to a lot of their songs. The Who vs The Beatles? Two different types of bands, The Who makes rock ballads more or less and The Beatles were interested in making songs from all types of genres. I wouldn't really say you could compare the two. However The Beatles are most definitely better and more original than the Rolling Stones.

  • @Dai3eb The Who makes rock ballads? You must be confusing The Who with The Beatles...

  • @Dai3eb Yeah, The Stones are a bit overrated.

  • @8DoverNJ

    I cannot agree more!

  • @8DoverNJ That's what I've always said! The feeling I get from The Who's music is different than when I listen to The Beatles and The Stones or any other band for that matter. In fact in my opinion the Stones are overated. I'm sure just about everyone would argue with that opinion but too bad that's my feeling. I get tired of The Who being pushed to the back.

  • @8DoverNJ Whoa whoa.. The Beatles are the greatest band of all time, hands down. The Stones and The Who were the other great bands of the British Invasion. Are we forgetting Zeppelin? How about The Animals? Donovan? The Kinks? The Zombies? The Moody Blues? You're forgetting to mention a LOT. But, anyways, The Beatles are always on top. They begin the list. Always.

  • @8DoverNJ I'm a Who, Beatles and Stones fan and i don't know what you're talking about.

  • I never thought this would happen, but this is probably the only rock song that has ever made me actively seek out and listen to classical music. At this point in time, Pete Townshend was certainly the equal to Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, etc.

  • I really think that this song shows the "4 faces" of Jimmy. The musical theme is constantly changing.

  • classic simple!

  • what do you guys know. the word quadrophenia is littered all over my digital history. i discovered it not in real-time, but yes i've been there & thereabouts for 20 yrs. peace. daddy rolling stone!

  • Im 18, ive just discovered the whole album, it is such a masterpiece. I only knew The Who from their song Behind Blue Eyes, i discovered the album thanks to the movie "Reign Over Me" with adam sandler. I downloaded the song Love reign over me which was in fact the song that ponctuated the album, im so glad i had enough good sense to get the whole album now, which is now one of my favourite ever. Too bad that nobody of my age loves that kind of music :'(
