In addition to Stratocasters, Hendrix was also photographed playing Fender Jazzmasters, Duosonics, two different Gibson Flying Vs, a Gibson Les Paul, three Gibson SGs, a Gretsch Corvette he used at the 1967 Curtis Knight sessions and miming with a right-strung Fender Jaguar on the Top of the Pops TV show, as well as several other brands. Hendrix borrowed a Fender Telecaster from Noel Redding to record "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze", used a white Gibson SG Custom for his performances …
I wonder if all the info in the cmts is accurate. The one that says Hendrix SG was a 67 does not fit with the info in the vid. I suspect that was an additional guitar to the Les Paul/SG that dave shows in the book. After he became famous I suspect that Hendrix bought many guitars tho he still liked to use his restrung right hand Fender Strat (white).
yes he didn't approve or like the looks and the weight of it. But the real story as to why he had Gibson remove his name was because he was going through a divorce. Les Paul was a great inventor and knew anything with his name on it jalf of the procedes would go tomhis ex wife if thwre was a divorce. After the divorce Gibson gave in to his original heavy body cutaway and the rest is history.
I feel like i already knew this, and learned it really recently. I don't blame the guy either, the SG looks like crap compared to the original Les Paul design.

I've heard that Les Paul didn't like the SG because it was to satanic... because of the double horns

Is that why Carlos Santana used to play an SG?

@xxmatt95xx
He thought the horns were to deep and sharp,and you could almost cut your hands off.
Later SG'S dont have as deep of a cutout/bevel
