Why do you think the United States didn't try to absorb Europe after WWII? True, Russia does have some oil that it can draw on internally but not enough to supply all their needs. That is one of the reasons they invaded Georgia for a short time. It wasn't to free oppressed people in Ossetia, that was just the cover, it was to gain access to the oil pipeline and supplies coming through Georgia.

When the Berlin Wall fell(towards the West)the newly-emerged superpower was NOT specifically named by the media--we ASSUMED it was us. America's superpower years so far were between 1880-1910. Superpowers do not owe debts to other nations or to central financial manipulators.
