@chapplin1306 no prequel but its not really necessary. i didn't play any of seven but had a rough, rough outline of the events in the game. it didn't take ANYTHING away from the awesomeness of the movie. But then again, an FF VII fan's opinion might differ. i say go IN!

I thought this movie looked cool and bought it. I watched it and didn't understand one fucking thing about it. I'm assuming it's a fan service movie and you have to know everything about every freakin' game to "get" the movie.

And yes I must say if you don't know the story of that game the movie might be a little confusing.. but hey! there are plenty of summaries to be found online so you won't have to play the entire game (tho I would recommend it lol).

To celebrate FFVII's aniversary and it's succes they made this movie as a tribute to the game and the 1000s of fans who loved it (and still do btw)

In the beginning, there was a fascinating story. But they just had to go and extend it, each time with a whole new web of retcons and those throw-together-throw-away characters, until finally they got tangled up in an overpatched mishmash, with the original idea butchered and degraded beyond salvation...

BUT I'm still looking forward to this because if nothing else, the state-of-the-art CGI makes it worth a shot...who needs a plot now anyway_^
