  • Are hydraulic winchs hard to set up?

  • The actual piping is the hard part. It's easiest to have hoses with a 'sweapt' 90 degree bend on one end and straight on the other. Then buy some 'sweapt' 90 degree adapters to go on the end. Then you can change the angle real easy.

If all the parts are 1/2" bsp they tend to be the same flow rating. But we get away with a 3/8" valve block.

You need a test gauge to see what pressures are generated, so you can set valves.

You need a suction pipe twice that of the pressure pipes.

  • The drive shaft and mount can be difficult, but most engineering works can make the parts you need, if you can't buy them off the shelf. The drive needs to be robust and in-balence due to the speed.

Infact, most of the "setting up" is in the building. The suction line needs to be free flowing with a large suction strainer. The tank should be deep and narrow, and a plate needs to sit above the strainer, to stop it gurgling like a plug hole.

If all these things are right, it'll be good!

  • Parker part number; 3349111873 and 44/06-9981167/009 for serial number. Took a while to get as its all a bit buried while the engines out and stripped. Plus all the parts for the engine thats going back in!

  • What pump are you using??
