Despite not succeeding, this was still a fantastic attempt considering how difficult the challenge was. The tactics you used of trio 9999 and auto potion were very clever. I wanted to do a Penance challenge myself and I came up with the idea of defeating Penance before defeating Sin. I actually succeeded and uploaded the video ages ago, didn't get much of a reaction though.

Anyway, I love watching this video, you put up a good fight. :)

@Mastriota Because Tidus' celestial weapon has evade&counter. If he used Tidus, he would eventually counter the arms, which obviously wouldn't be good. Plus, all of his characters have max stats (everything 255), so it wouldn't make a difference.

You don't need more than 9999 HP to defeat Penance. Take a look at other Penance videos...

I don't understand the premise of the challenge exactly. So you are to do no damage to the arms, and "without counter abilities." What does the second part mean? I would think it to include things like auto-potion, which you use. Or do you just mean no counterattack (because that would invariably damage the arms)?

@aetithjnsw Yes that's exactly what I meant: no counter abilities like Counterattack and Evade & Counter. With these abilities you damage the arms and every now and then they get destroyed, making the fight alot easier.

Now, here u deal with oblideration+mega graviton and all the normal attacks by the arms.every obliteration and every mega graviton mean 3 x potions each.

Rikku's Overdrive Mix : Trio of 9999...mix gambler's spirit with ''any'' curtain...to make all attacks/heals do 9999 damage in case of your attack/healing power is normally below 9999...

Commands like Pray, magic like Cure/Cura/Curaga and even normal potions...ANY potion to be exact...wil heal for 9999. Works on Phoenix Down's and potions selectable in ''Úse'' and ''Item'' command.

You can always to the ESR thing with MCBoot, and get the game from the internet. That way I'm gonna play it, though I downloaded the PAL version since I already have the saves for it, so I'll play that, but INT & PAL versions have practically no differences than languages

Although Potions are somewhat easier to obtain.

Penance had only won against me, because he used his Judgement Day and I haven't counted my attacks on him, only his attacks. Now i think that you have to count all damage you do on the torso and all his attacks and then before when he reached the counter (19). And then his next attack will be Judgment day.

Was die Ausrüstungswechsel angeht: in der zweiten Phase braucht man eben andere Rüstungen, deshalb der Wechsel.

Achja, du meinst wahrscheinlich die öfter auftretenden Wechsel. Die sind einfach dazu da, um sich zwischen die Züge vom Richter und den Armen zu "mogeln", da ein Ausrüstungswechsel die niedrigste Erholungszeit hat.

I get the "He uses it when his hidden counter hits 19" and "The counter increases by 1 every time he uses Immolation or you hit him" but...you hit him MANY more than 19 times before he used it. :( Does dispel reset the counter or something? Or am I misreading things?

@AeonofOblivion Yep and it spins like Bahamut's wheel. Also there are technically 3 enemies, like the Magus Sisters. Plus it has Anima's height. The pattern on the wings sort of resemble flames like Ifrit. The hooks on his back could be another version of Ixion's Horn. He's flying like Valfore. Which leaves only Shiva and that can easily be summed up with the human like shape before he looses the bottom. That and the fact that this thing has got to be the most feminine Superboss ever.

Tetra-graviton (I think it's called) would instant KO like the Zanmato, but Sin needs to fill it's overdrive. Meanwhile Penance just trashes him in about 2 or 3 hits.

So my guess is that Penance would annihilate Sin with ease.

hey mangoprohductions, try taking out his arms first, to prevent his judgement day. with stats max'd on almost allcharacters, i must say, you certainly SHOULD be able to drop this guy... i had far lesser stats when i did. take notes from this guys video, but in its stead, take otu the arms first! n u should be good to go!

Three Stars wouldn't have helped, as they are dispelled by KO. This challenge has been beaten more recently. The new challenge is to do it without Break Damage Limit, which is harder because you run out of aeon shields for Judgement Day.

Everything is dispelled at KO except for Auto-Abilities. ChaosN was the one who did it; we strategized on Gamefaqs for a couple weeks before his successful attempt. While ChaosN and dredghawl originally thought it would be easier without BHPL (due to Mega-graviton), we more recently decided to use it. It takes some luck and strategy, but in the end, is not THAT hard. It will be much harder without BDL, because you have to survive JD with Auto-Life, which removes buffs and 9 ticks and lowers hp.
