  • All Volvo cars have the SIPS (side impact protection system) which actually moves the seat of the car sideways towards the center of the car, away from the impact. HOWEVER, this system is most effective when the front seat is positioned as close to the B-pillar as possible; in this test the seat is moved unusually forward, even for the teenage girl size dummy they were testing, completely missing the B-pillar and severely limiting the effectiveness of the SIPS system.

Take a look at the volvo crash center in sweden .... and then we will talk ... it's the most advanced in the world, and there, volvo push the limits of their cars ... the SIPS on a Volvo S40 is unique ... volvo cars are designed to face a real side impact with a real car not with a frame with 4 weels and a steel bar in the front as the "american institute" does ... volvo ... from sweden with love
